Evil Deadly Silenece, they'll be my next DS purchases for

The third disc, Existence, supposedly sucks. It's just a
''movie'', which is really just a compilation of the
cut-scenes, with a bit of gameplay footage to fill in some
gaps. Nothing I'd need to watch, and it's a really erratic
and nonsensical viewing anyway, nobody with the LE seems to
have been too enthused about it. Also the LE packaging isn't
anything special. I would say don't waste your money. You
can watch any cut-scene you want in the demo theater
anyway.

I played many hours of Metal Gear Online today, very fun
stuff. Although it's a bit on the runny gunny side. You can
be stealthy but not nearly to the degree that you can be in
the normal game, it's a bit too manic and busy for that.
But it's a riot anyway, Snake vs Everyone mode is great,
it's fun to hunt him down with a group and it's fun when you
get to be Snake and slaughter said group (the guy who kills
him gets to be him in the next round).

Another touch I appreciated was being able to choose some
music after every death/respawn. There's arranged versions
of the MGS1 soundtrack, the original MGS soundtrack, the
8-bit music, MGS2 and MGS3 sets, some new music, etc.

And another thing, since I keep noticing that the first post
in this topic is about Hitman... is anybody getting Hitman-
Blood Money? That'll probably be one of the last Xbox 180
games I get, I love that series.

Carmageddon Splat Pack

downloaded this classic piece of data to check it out. it
sucks because: timer is ticking two times faster on my comp
which makes it impossible sometimes even on the easiest
level. pedestrians somehow were replaced with smth i can't
describe other than stupid and irritating and i don't know
how to change them back. Plus, the game crashes when it
wants to.

fps: quake 1, quake 3 arena, counter strike source
puzzle: super bust-a-move (PC ed)
rpg: heroes of might and magic 2
mud: legend of the red dragon

it would also be worthwhile to note that act1-wild from the
diablo 2 soundtrack is one of my favourite songs of the

mario sunshine. i dont really care for the controls, mario
64 had a much better control responce. gameplay is alright,
rather than a learning curve im facing an interest curve.
wasn't until i got about 8 shines that i started to enjoy
the game.

so i just rented timesplitters 2 on ps2 and it doesn't seem
like anything special to me or anything i'd really enjoy
playing....

i think i've come to the conclusion that i've been spoiled
by great games...

the gran turismo's, metal gear solid's, tekken's, mario's,
virtual tennis', katamari damacy's, shenmue's, ico's (well
shadow took place in the same "universe"), metroid's and
others all seem to have set a bar in videogames for me.

is my overbearing critical eye permeating into videogames?
or have videogames just not been as good lately? OR do they
not match up the above mentioned games?

i need a game that immerses me with it's distinct qualities.
visuals (not necessarily "good", but unique. katamari damacy
for example), audio, and overall experience seem to have to
be groundbreaking for me to enjoy a game lately...

any recommendations....

I think Transformers for PS2 is underrated. The levels are
nice and sprawling, there's cool abilities, a few really
bodacious ideas and moments sprinkled throughout the game
(an aircraft carrier that transforms into a massive fucking
boss), etc... I really dug that game. Psychonauts and
Riddick are very cool and stylish too.

Of course there's the Xbox Sega games, since you're a
Shenmue fan you might be familiar with them already... Jet
Set Radio Future, Otogi, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gunvalkyrie...
they're all dirt cheap (I bought all of them used from
Blockbuster for peanuts) and they all stick out like
endearingly sore thumbs.

I've been playing soooo much Metal Gear Online. I love this
game so much. Hiding in the boxes is just the best. I set
myself up near stacks of crates, wait for some suckers to
run by me, then shoot them in the ass.

No, whilst most mortal kombat games since Ultimate Mortal
Kombat 3/MK Trilogy have been gash, MK: Shaolin Monks is
completely different. If you've ever played the "Powerstone"
games on the Dreamcast, the VS. mode is very similar to
that, rather than the half-hearted Virtua Fighter style 3d
fighters of late.

Incidentally I'm not playing bike/car racing games for a
bit. I've potentially lost my licence for doing over a ton
on an A road. Ho hum. I'll have to go to court in a month or
two to sort it out.

Actually I'm really into the game now :)
The reason I didn't like the controls is because there were
some bits in the game that drove me crazy, like the sand
bird level, and the surfing for red coins in ricco harbour.

Perfect Dark Zero for the 360. Alright whats the deal.
Golden eye and Perfect Dark for the 64 had that awesome
aiming capability where the trigger would go back to the
center. Now nearly 10 years later, that effect is removed.

WHY DO GAMES DOWNGRADE?!
When something new and awesome is introduced to a game
engine, it should be applied to all games made after.

I enjoyed the game itself, and I'm not trying to sound like
a psychotic killer or anything but when I shoot a dead body,
I expect to see blood stains and bullet holes. Not because I
like that sort of thing, but because thats realistic, and if
they're going to put so much effort into moving objects like
punching a box around, the realism of all they worked hard
for is gone, when I can't put some bullet holes in a fucking
dead person.

Also, there were parts in the game where if you panned
slowly, it looked REAL. The bump mapping is getting alot
better.

i find that kind of 'realism' pretty gross. i think the
metal gear solid games straddle the balance to my liking.

Ophecks: Unfortunately I don't have an Xbox (well, actually
I'm a xbox hater) but there are a fews games on it I'd like
to play, such as Outrun 2.

I just read that the makers of Gran Turismo have made a
motorcyle racing game called "Tourist Trophy" and it's
coming out real soon, so I'll probably entertain myself with
that. Also, I really should trade in MGS3 and grab the new
edition, but I'd probably get screwed on the trade in-price.
I'll have to check out stores near me. I've heard a lot of
good things about Psychonauts as well, I'll have to rent
that if I see it.

optimus:
You are definitely essential to this thread. Whether it's
your love of Sega or Ico recommendations, it's awesome. I'd
download that rom, but my computer is god awful, even to
handle a gameboy game. Gameboy has been looking might fine
lately with all the great games that have been coming out
for it. Have you sold your gamecube? I know you looked for
it before, but grab Beach Spikers if you find it,
seriously.

Since gamecube appears to be dithering away into nothingness
and games are getting cheaper by the day, I'm going to try
and concentrate in that area.

Of course I'll be getting MLB2k6 on ps2 though as long as it
doesn't suck. God damn EA stealing ESPN.

will be racket takeovers.
