i traded a sage francis cd for unlimited saga, that rpg shat
upon by the press.

so far i like it (played for ten minutes). i wouldn't call
it an rpg. more like a marriage between pen & paper rpgs and
a board game.

i'll have more to say about it after i've beaten one of the
seven quests.

Now playing all the old NES ''graphic adventure games''. I
beat Uninvited a couple days ago, am playing through Deja Vu
as we speak, will play Shadowgate tomorrow and Nightshade on
the tomorrow after that (I've never beaten Nightshade).

I have consulted gamefaqs a couple times, I admit.
Especially since Uninvited has some seriously stupid puzzles
in it that are less about puzzle solving and more about
tedious trial and error and complete suckiness.

I've been playing Wario Ware: Twisted for the Nintendo DS.
Some Mario Sunshine. And Donkey Kong Junglebeat with the
bongos. This game is so simple but one of the most fun
platformers I've played in a long time.

i'd love to play that, but . . .

i've officially quit video games. i've already given away
half my collection so far and by the end of the week i won't
have a single game in my house.

why? so i can spend more time reading and writing.

do i think games are stupid? no. i plan on renting the new
zelda when it comes out, then giving away my gamecube.

i also plan on getting a ds or psp for all the long bus
rides to toronto i'll be doing for the next three years.

anyway, goodbye thread. you were kind to me.

the only time i used my television was to play games, so
yeah.

i'll be keeping my ps2 since it's also a dvd player, so if a
game comes out that i absolutely crave, i'll rent it. it's
just that when i have games in my house or on my computer
then i gravitate towards them even when i know i should be
doing something that affects me on a more personal level. i
won't mature as an 'artist' if my creativity is stunted by
spending hours finding the right green pipes to press down
on.

staying at a friend's lately, playing a bit of killer7.

it rocks. i really enjoy the gameplay as it takes me back to
the good old days. and everything else about it is simply
stunning.

gt4 and mlb2k5 still

i just took a week long vacation at a beach house with some
friends. i did about 12% progress in gt4 and close to 20
baseball games in mlb2k5. not much of a vacation, but hey i
have a broken collarbone.

i'm about 62% into gt4 and 3/5 done the season in mlb2k5 w/
a .740 win percentage.

i'm getting kind of sick of these games. perhaps i'll get
metroid prime 2 soon. WOW LOOKS AT ALL THE NUMBERS AND
ABBREVIATIONS I'VE USED SO FAR

optimus, appears you're going through some tough times...
hope things get better :)

Awesome game, feels like Deus Ex on a smaller, prettier
scale to me. Has no replay value whatsoever, but I barely
replay games anymore anyway. I'd kill for a follow-up. I
think you'd better get it.

these past two days i've been playing (and kind of forcing
myself at that) hitman contracts for ps2. i bought it a
while back and only played a level, then it sat on the
shelf. didn't find it as good as hitman 2, or maybe it just
got old. i'll probably play some more today.

also, last night i got 2,790 on monkey target in super
monkey ball on gc. a friend of mine recently got something
in the low 2,000 while we were on vacation. i just wanted to
see if i could beat it.

Devil May Cry 3: beat it in easy mode, now trying to
beat it in normal mode but i have difficulty (even with all
the extra life and extra other stuff i got from beating it
in normal)... i really suck at this game.

God Of War: pretty excellent gameplay. but the
ambiance doesn't "catch" me, i find the hero as charismatic
as a Thwomp without a face and neither does the world
enchant me (cruel brutal ugly world, kind of)... and it's
kind of a Prince Of Persia Warrior Within + Devil May Cry +
Onimusha rip-off. oh well. the gameplay kind of makes up for
it, but it's too bad - this could have been a killer
game.

Metroid series: in Metroid Prime 2:Echoes, i got to
the Ing Emperor (Emperor Ing?).. had to use a solution to
find all the keys though and i haven't really tried beating
it now. i love both Metroid Prime episodes but those bosses
are just so hard and annoying... *_* all in all i can
say that i preferred Metroid Prime 1 for the ambiance, but
both are great games. i'm trying Super Metroid on (emulated)
SNES also... enjoyable, though with my keyboard
configuration it's barely playable because of the L and R
buttons...

Ico: i only play it every now and then, and for short
periods of time, but it's really beautiful. and sort of
realistic too. (the fights are really overlong and annoying
though, you need a lot of patience...)

Super Monkey Ball 2: got 99 lives. got to Expert
Extra level 5. i probably will unlock Master mode. dammit i
love this game.

there are some good reviews as well, such as gamespot's. it
plays out as a cross between a very linear resident evil 4
and a light gun game.

everything about it meshes together perfectly for me, but i
can see why a lot of people would hate it, particularly
younger gamers.

i think everybody should at least rent it, though. to me
it's this generation's jet grind radio.

The IGN review made Killer 7 seem very quirky and made me
say ''WTF'' in my mind, but I do love the style. I'll have
to rent it. I haven't played a Gamecube game since Resident
Evil 4, it's coated in dust.

just turned on metroid prime 2 for the first time.

just got out of the ship and i know it's already awesome. i
like how the scanned things change colors. a lot easier to
see than the last one. i actually tried to play the first
one earlier and complete my 100% game (at 89%) but i really
forget what i was doing and what i have to do.

when i played the first game i always listened to bola. it
went together beautifully. i'm thinking of listening to
monolake's interstate, but maybe i'll just listen to bola
again.

Ocarina Of Time is my favourite game ever, but not because
of the music. well, i do love the music from the Temple of
Spirit among others but that's not the thing that marked me
the most about the game. : )

the only game soundtracks i have are Silent Hill 2, Silent
Hill 3 and Rez ones, but they totally own (= they're great).
i also have a few tunes from Metroid Prime 1 (Tallon
Overworld and Phendrana Drifts).

some other video game musics i love are:
• Hydrocity Zone in Sonic 3 (absolute coolness)
• Buttville in Earthworm Jim (at least the melody in what
i remember)
• the one from world 6 of Super Monkey Ball 2 (with the
boiling soup)
• a lot of tunes from WipEout soundtracks... obviously...
• Tetrisphere on N64 had some pretty cool tracks from what
i remember too (now that was some time ago).
• i remember the desert in Final Fantasy X had a cool
music to it too but i can't remember a single note from it.
• some others i forgot...

it must be special, for sure. everyone says you either hate
it or love it... and even because you like "weird" games
doesn't mean you will like it; i have a friend who's a great
fan of Rez and Katamari Damacy but just cannot get himself
to like Killer 7 (he downloaded and tried the japanese
and the us versions even, to be sure he didn't like
it) and finds it boring as fuck...
