Too bad we can't play online, at least I don't think we can.
You avatar is from Mega Man Legends, no? Now that was a fun
game.

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, super mega
fun, very mega beauty. Speaking of Mega Man, the R&C games
are kind of how I used to envision modern Mega Man games
feeling like eventually. About the same ratio of
platforming-to-action, same variety of weapons, same robotic
adversaries, same huge robotropolis settings and
vaguely-cybernetic natural environments... now if only they
got a developer as talented as Insomniac to work on a Mega
Man game.

fuck. i love the ratchet and clank series. wheres my ps3..

the mega man series is good as too. i'm sure if imsomniac
worked on mega man, it'd be an improvement to the legend
games or the recent mega man games.

Last night I borrowed my friend's SNES with mariokart, super
mario world, star fox, mario RPG, mario all-stars, and
more... He's got like all my favorite classic games and he
was kind enough to let me borrow the whole package for a
while (his suggestion, not mine, actually). We started a new
game of mario world last night and got pretty far. I shall
now continue that quest.

yea ratchet and clank is probably the only ps3 game i
adamantly NEED to play... I purchased the second one, for
PS2, for a low price right after I beat the third game, I
can't get enough.

otherwise I'm not playing much right now, after beating
Grandia 2 last week, except the occasional Mario no Super
Picross challenge (it NEVER ends, that game) for SNES.

Super Mario Galaxy, best game ever after Zelda: Ocarina of
Time.

finished super mario galaxy. fantastic, but not sure when
i'll pick it up again to go through as luigi. sorry if that
was a possible spoiler for anyone because it wasn't.

played through about 80% of resident evil x: code veronica
then got tired of it. i felt like i already beat it and then
all of a sudden oh now you're somebody else or hey you
didn't really beat it.

now i've moved onto resident evil 4 (bought a neat 3 pack
for $30 around halloween on ps2. x, outbreak and 4) it's
great. i like the newer camera angle. let's me feel more in
control or aware of what is happening. survival horror games
really scare the crap out of me. i've never played any
before because i'm a big baby but i think i'm pretty used to
them now.

Ratchet sold like crap apparently, not a huge surprise but
still tragic and stupid. So hurry on up and buy it if you
haven't already.

I started a third Mass Effect save, and yesterday I watched
my cousin beat it in one sitting. It's a good thing the game
is so fun and replayable because it's so damn short. Other
than that I'm still playing Warhawk regularly and looking
forward to the rad new map and dropship vehicle this month.
Definitely the most fun online game I've played.

i found loose carts of metroid fusion and zero mission at a
used record store for 10$ each, which felt like god's
christmas present to me. playing through fusion right now,
not really digging it that much due to the much-maligned
hand-holding and intrusive story elements, also the bosses
are pretty lame. but i'll take 2d metroid any way that i
can, even if it's anally.

once i beat it i'll let my self play the one that matters:
zero mission. can't wait!

(the sequals were good sequals too).
i played a bit of mario galaxy at my bros, man that game
looks good. i watched that 15minute gameplay video of mgs4

Trying to play Unreal Tournament 3. Hate it, spastic,
simple, repetitive. Does deliver what it promises though,
just not my style.

2008 is nigh, what's you gay's top 5/top 10 for 2007

1- Warhawk (PS3)- had no expectations, bought it because it
was cheap/to bolster my once lean PS3 library/
word-of-forum-text, turns out to be the most fun game I've
played this year, hands down. I feel like a kid in a candy
store each time I spawn.

2- Mario Galaxy (Wii)- finally some real Mario magic again,
well worth waiting 11 years for.

3- Uncharted- Drake's Fortune (PS3)- fun, treat for the eyes
and ears, but another bonus is the presentation, nice to
play a cinematic action/adventure game that is well acted
and scripted. Nice break from the meathead Gears of War and
the god awful Resident Evil approaches (both great games
otherwise!).

4- Bioshock (PC/360)- being a huge fan of System Shock was
both a blessing and a curse. Once the WOW factor wore off,
the gameplay was too familiar, and actually dumbed down...
but the presentation and concept was novel. It totally
earned its GOTY honors.

5- Ratchet and Clank Future (PS3)- this series is the 21st
century version of Mega Man in the 80s/90s, totally
formulaic and endlessly fun.

6- God of War 2 (PS2)- a classic lost in the shuffle this
year because of its platform and release date.

7- Syphon Filter- Logan's Shadow (PSP)- my favorite PS1
series is AAA quality again. Just wish I could play it on
the PS3, or even PS2. Too good for a handheld.

8- DiRT (360/PC/PS3)- RIP Colin McRae.

9- Silent Hill Origins (PSP)- series redeems itself, but
again fuck this "console quality on a handheld" shit.

10- Mass Effect (360)- mixed bag, awesome campaign, boring
sidequest system. Still, very addictive and fun to play
through the story quest in different ways.

Hon. mentions-

Orange Box (PC/360/PS3) and Resident Evil 4 (Wii)- the meat
here is 04-05. Disqualified. But both are better than all of
the above games.

it just wasn't fun anymore. i dunno, i'm probably wrong here

I'm going to skip on a top 10 list, because I haven't had
the chance to play that many new games (like 9 out of the 10
on Ophecks's list!). But here's some gems I've enjoyed this
year:

1) Super Mario Galaxy
2) Tomb Raider: Anniversary
3) Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
4) Broken Sword 4 (not a great game, but I enjoyed it)
5) Persona 3

Again, I've still to test most of the games released in the
last couple of months... plenty of gorgeous games out there.

sucked. i did not enjoy it all -- at no point did it feel
like a true metroid game to me. just started zero mission,
though, and it's already healing all that pain. awesome
stuff.

only had about 2 hours left where i stopped.

forgot that the wii vc doesn't actually have save points and
i lost my smb3 'resume file' when i turned the system off

i may DL zelda on SNES, otherwise my games are all played

Assassin's Creed is weird. The fundamentals of the game are
sooooo fun. It has the coolest and most intuitive
platforming mechanics ever, you can climb ANYTHING you can
see, and the stealth kills all feel awesome. But the mission
design is terrible. Once you've completed the first two
assassinations, you've seen every trick the game has up its
sleeve, yet it stretches beyond 9 assassinations.

Massive squandered potential, if the mission design was as
varied and imaginative as Hitman's, the game would be one of
the best ever. Still worth a rent to experience its beauty
and wicked environmental interactions.

Still playing WoW on a somewhat consistent basis. I have a
huge backlog of PS2 RPGs (a few PSOne to boot) as well as
some Gamecube/GBA games. I've been wanting to buy a PSP/DS
for awhile now, and I may just buy a DS after finding out
about some aftermarket players for it.

I also just picked up Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core on the
side. I need to find someone to build me an Arcade Stick
for some $$, so I can get some positive practice in with
Order-Sol.

Oh phooey, I missed my thread, sorry. Holidays and all that.
Congrats on 666 Satan, you're a hell of a hockey player.

On topic, I started a second save on Silent Hill Origins.
Anybody that likes this series HAS to play this, it feels so
authentically Silent Hill that it gets me teary eyed.
Thankfully it's likely coming out for PS2 eventually if you
don't have a PSP. I'll buy it again if it has manual camera.
Origins is endearingly clunky, but I like control over how I
look at game worlds.
