Played Zombies ate My Neighbours, need Game Genie codes to
get me through the later levels with the giant ants in the
mines.

Preparing for God of War 2 and the new GRAW, and also hoping
that the Mother 3 translation project wraps up soon because it's only the
sequel to like my favorite game ever.

Still playing tenchu 2 for PS1. I love the level editor.
It's a shame I have no friends willing to play my levels due
to the outdatedness of the gameplay. I make all these
intricate secrets but since I made them the enjoyment is
lost while playing.

Little Nemo is an insanely difficult game, major kudos if
you managed to beat it.

i just finished Twilight Princess. to tell the truth i'm
even a bit sad because i finished it... a bit too much based
on Ocarina of Time maybe, but still fantastic.

now i've also just bought and began to play Okami, which
seems to be great so far. being a goddess (though also a
wolf ridden by a little creature again (Isshun or whatever
his name is is no match for Midna though)) and being able to
stop time and draw shapes with a brush that makes fancy
pretty little flowers and coloured leaves and stuff burst
out everywhere and make everyone happy is pretty cool. (what
would have been even cooler is if this game had been
released on Wii, but still.)

right now i'm making my third attempt to play ocarina of
time and i think i'm actually enjoying it for the first time
ever. i never made it past the child stage of the game
because of boredom but now not only am i an adult but i have
the biggoron's sword. the atmosphere of the game is really
growing on me and it's my goal to beat it before i even
think of picking up twilight princess.

the child stage of the game isnt even like ... i dunno 9
tenths of ocarina : ) GEEZ!
i liked god of war, but im not sure if id be willing to play
a whole another game of it. looking forward to your report
on it ophecks.

I can relate to the boredom you used to feel with that game.
I will never understand how OoT is considered the ''gr8est
game ever'', even at the time something about it just felt
off to me. I tried playing it a couple of years ago and now
it feels so contrived with that hub field (with hardly
anything of interest in it) and the equally barren areas
predictably placed along the perimeter of the very
video-gamey and unimmersive hub. The overworld feels more
like an... overYARD or something.

Love the dungeons though, and the graveyard. The game had
moments of brilliance, but it feels dated to me now. Much
moreso than the other 98-99 classics (MGS, Thief, Half Life,
etc).

Anyway, I picked up Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for
360, which is basically Extremely Fun and Intense Xbox 360
Shooter # 493, but I'll have to beat it quickly before
getting God of War 2, which I'll undoubtedly craft a boring,
long-winded rant for.

I'm also considering getting GTA Vice City Stories... I
never get tired of that formula, and I really want to hear
the soundtrack and revisit Vice. I loved Liberty City
Stories but shiiiiiiiit, do I have time, GTA games can take
over your days.

offline pigster from melbs on 2007-03-11 03:37 [#02060777]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker

i'd only conisider liberty/vice city stories for the ps2 at
a ludicrously cheap price. also, i wouldn't get it for the
missions so much as i would for pretty much having cleaned
up versions of gta3/vice city to mess around in when bored.

I got LC Stories for 19.99 brand new last year, so I would
guess VC Stories is the same price. I loved LCS and I'm sure
I'd love VCS, I'm just iffy on it because there's too many
other new games and maybe I'd be better off just waiting for
GTA4 and letting the anticipation build.

PS- Don't waste your money on the GTA Stories games if
you're just going to ''mess around'', it's the same cities
with the same weapons. The missions are great though.

When I play GTA, I'm all business, I just play the
missions... unless I get to a frustrating mission, then I
may go on a rampage between failures. Still waiting for them
to add a Rape command.

heh. but if i ever get some random impulse to randomly play
gta3 and mess with the cops for a bit, surely i'd prefer it
if i could move the camera with the right joystick..
OOH BOY IM SALIVATING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

Indeed. GRAW is a helluva series.

Ceri- make the decision for me, shall I get Vice City
Stories? Is it worth the time? I heard the missions are more
elaborate than those in Liberty City Stories, which is good.

finished omega weapon in ff6 advance last week... bit
disappointing, challenge-wise... the new spells are ok, but
not really essential. neither are new espers though finding
and fighting them was a rather good time.

these days i'm playing alot of civilization 4, since i got a
new pc ("wee!") which is finally able to run things
appropriately. it's fun. on par with III if you got used to
it.

I got Vice City Stories and beat a few missions, lots of fun
and all the little refinements in every successive GTA are
much appreciated.

I also got God of War 2... which takes precedence. Played it
for many hours this evening. What can I say, it's God of War
and it's exactly like the previous game, but tweaked
ever-so-slightly to be even tighter. It does add flying
sequences between areas, which are OK, but generally it's
devoid of innovation. Which is fine. The action game formula
is so refined and polished to a mirror sheen here so I don't
give a shit about no innovation. The production values are
insane and the elaborate situations and set-pieces you find
yourself in are very exciting and very manly and promote
massive bloodflow to your dick. There's very little bullshit
in the form of tedious puzzles or repetitive battles, it's a
delightfully brisk adventure.

About the only bad thing about the game is that I really
really want manual control of the camera. The camera is
strategically and cinematically placed and for the purposes
of action and navigation, it works well, but the
environments are so immense and ornate that I want to just
stop and look around and admire them. But you're at the
mercy of the camera's preset views. They're nice, but I like
full control. Even a stationary first person view would have
sufficed. If you're going to spare no expense rendering
environments this awesome... LET ME FUCKING LOOK AROUND AT
THEM.

It's simultaneously depressing and inspiring that a game
like this is on the PS2... on one hand, this game is far
better than anything on the PS3 and would have given that
machine instant credibility. And would have looked even
better. On the other hand, it's quite an achievement to get
an insane looking game like this running on a 300mhz machine
with 32mb of RAM... a nice last gasp for the PS2, and should
be interesting to see what this team can do with PS3
hardware.

I'm playing GOW2 and so far it is just as fantastic as the
original. The art direction on this game is just incredible,
but beyond the visual aesthetics, it is just a lot of fun to
play. I'm also a sucker for the ancient greek myths so this
game wins on all fronts for me.

Kratos is also one bad motherfucker.

now. despite hvaing missed out on the two most recent
additions to the series, i really do love the zelda games.

He's TOO motherfuckery. There's a puzzle where

*possible spoiler*

there's huge metal gears you have to get through, and to
stop them from turning you have to pick up the dying soldier
nearby and then stick him in the gears. I don't like playing
as a heartless asshole. :-(

besides, the whole weird glitchy side with the twilight

no i havent!
i loved ocarina (still one of my favourite games) and
majoras mask was a good game as well (tho, dunno how i
wouldve liked it if it werent for ocarina...)
i'd been keeping my eye on windwaker for such a long time,
but ended up not getting a gamecube. which was a let down
for a zelda fan.
after twilight princess (and possibly okami too, dunno how
im gonna order these future 'to play' games).. THEN i'll
finally play wind waker. : )
