been 'playing' hotel dusk. turns out it's much more of a
visual novel than an adventure game, but i enjoy it since
the character dialogue makes me chuckle out loud on
occasion. the dialogue reminds me a lot of jeff smith's bone
(the comic book, not his penis). it's been getting great
reviews, lots of tens, but i hear that more than a few
average joes are completely bored by it. i'm just glad
nintendo took the risk in bringing over a game from such a
niche genre.

Rented Lost Planet- Extreme Condition for 360. It's alright,
kind of a less fun version of the extremely underrated
Freedom Fighters. Also just started Clive Barker's Undying,
which is absolutely awesome, legitimately scary, and I can't
believe I waited so long to play it.

BTW I know there's some Manhunt fans here, Manhunt 2 was
recently announced. The original is still one of the most
intense games ever, totally misunderstood, I'll have to
replay it soon.

One of my favorite videogame moments ever... running away
from one of the inmates at the insane asylum level in
Manhunt and hearing him yell ''stop... getting...
SMALLER!!!''

World of Warcraft and Dragon Quest 8. When I beat DQ, I'm
moving onto Final Fantasy 12. I like RPGs. Also playing
Final Fantasy 4 on my DS

just finished okami (thanks to a 2 month hiatus brought on
by sort of playing bully, old metal gear games, and nintendo
ds)

i can't deny it's a solid game with originality, but i have
my complaints. it's like the story should of ended a bit
half past the game and they added on more for whatever sake.
(this is around the time i stopped playing it)

still a very well put together game. great graphics, great
soundtrack. great gameplay (although repetitive and drawn
out at times) but as far as adventure games go it's a
winner.

now on to finish bully perhaps, then buy lumines plus when
it's released.

then i'll be done for the old generation....crap.

I will be done with the old generation after God of War 2.
That will be the PS2's last hurrah.

It's almost a shame that it's a PS2 game, because it's sick
to think what it could have looked like on the PS3. And it
also could have been the PS3's first really good game.

Yeah but the point is the PS3 still doesn't have a killer
app yet to compete with Gears of War and Zelda. God of War 2
could have done that.

PS2 had a poor launch lineup too, though.

it really does.
They needed metal gear or gta 4.
resistance is supposed to be amazing, but it hasn't had much
hype.

theres no way i'd get a ps3 so early on..

recently finished ufouria on emulator. crazy to think, i
used to play this as a kid and then see it in video shop
sale bins all the time but never bought it, only to find out
its a rare nes game..

i feel like playing more nes roms, but not ranbomly like i
normally do, but one game at a time. i still haven't fully
played the original zelda or kid icarus.

(ps. that previous post was about okami.. stil wanna buy it,
though i'd be rather annoyed if i finally got around to
buying it only to find the rumours of it coming out on wii
were true.)

sound voyager is good but you need great headphones to do
well (blind people are meant to be good at it!)

My fav is Orbital, very addictive and hard as to get to
grips with.

Rainbow Six Vegas for 360, great great shooter. Playing all
these newfangled shooters with in-depth cover techniques
have sort of changed the way I think when I play FPS' and
shooters. It feels weird to play games that don't force you
to hide and cover and stop'n'pop and use lots of
self-preservation.

i've been playing with a mix of headphones and external
speakers. the external speakers (my regular stereo speakers)
work the best for me. the sound is surprisingly thick for a
gba game. i never have to look at the screen when i play,
it's great.

i've been taking advantage of the lucky lunar new year sale
at play-asia:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-17-71-2-74-1bg-49-en.html

i guess i should just download them but i like to support
'art games' such as these and rez and katamari damacy and
ico etc.

I've been playing Hotel Dusk for DS. Makes great use of the
DS but the story is a little slow. Only a couple hours in
though.

Getting SSX Blur for Wii next week. Looks like fun and I
love how they've implemented the controls.

i'm on chapter 8 and the story has only just slightly sort
of begun to pick up. that said, i still thoroughly enjoy the
game as all of the characters are completely unique and the
main character is such a badass. the only people i know who
are disappointed in it are those going in expecting an
adventure game when it's actually a 'visual novel' (the
japanese equivalent of adventure games).

beat bully (only had 3 hours left)

at around 70% i may try to collect everything and do all the
missions eventually.

started a new season of mlb2k5 w/ the devilrays. crappy
pitching, mediocore hitters and a tough division. it should
be fun at least until 2k7 comes out and i get to rock the
phillies w/ ryan howard.

gonna get lumines plus on tuesday and trade in winning
eleven because my american brain can't contemplate european
soccer.

i've really gotten back into Everquest. It's actually why
i've not posted here much lately. My old Enchanter character
that i started over 7 years ago was still on the server.
I've leveled her from level 20 to level 51 since november.
i now have several guilds trying to recruite me. i also
started a berserker character who just turned level 15
today. i can play at work because i'm here when nobody else
is and i have a lot of "downtime."

I can't believe i'm playing EQ again i used to hate it so
much. but Sony has really improved the game vastly in every
aspect. there is much more questing, much less grinding,
much less linearity, much more player to player
interactaction and communication and there have been 13
expansions since the original game came out in 1999
including 1 expansion that came out this week.

after this i plan on beating prince of persia sands of time.
i'm up to some elevator level, and i die every time.
then i'll have to get okami. we <3 katamari.
um, is bully a wrothwhile game as well? i'm a BIG fan of the
gta series mind you..

God I can't wait for God of War 2. It's odd that the game
was reviewed by the major media outlets as early as a week
or two ago, but it's not even out 'till mid March.

offline pigster from melbs on 2007-02-25 05:08 [#02054974]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker

yeah. there are reviews out and about for it too.. with the
exception of poor old gamespot.

i just beat god of war. was surprised to find out there
wasnt even 10 hours of gameplay. the end boss sucked ass. i
spent most of my sunday, on and off, trying to beat those
clones. and once i found the correct method it was piss
easy.. *sigh*

i then put on prince of persia and it plays terribly
compaired to god of war! the graphics and controls are not
what it used to be, now that ive played the superiour game.
in regards to both graphics and controls. and im still at
that damn elevator!..
i just wanna beat this game and forget about it.

now to save my pennies for okami. i might buy some 2nd hand
metal gear solid along the way. im sure its a brilliant game
but ive never played it properly.
and then theres god of war 2, but that can wait.

Metal Gear Solid in what form? The original PS1 version/the
Gamecube remake/other?

For me only the original is legit, the remake added
ridiculous over-the-top cutscenes that kill the whole feel
for me, and had an altered soundtrack. The original is the
gr8est game ever, even with those dated PS1 graphics.

I think skipping MGS1 would be a very uncool and dorkwad
thing to do. The trilogy is so story/character/universe
oriented that I think you have to play them chronologically
to get the full impact. And the impact is immense, you will
weep at the end of MGS3 and be a bigger man for it.
