yeah that's true, but it doesn't look they they're holding
back. it just looks like they can't get to do things right.

if they wanted to hold back they'd just play with substitues
or something.

this is not the ronaldinho from barça or the adriano from
milan or the ronaldo from 1996 (hehe). we'll just have to
wait see i guess, i even said in a post earlier that brazil
always wins being lazy. but i'd love to see you eat your
words ;)

I would. But another part of me would prefer you to prevail
and leave all your critics in shame.

THEY ARE THE BEST

that doesnt mean that they are nowadays playing good

in fact they are playing shit

but, of course they are the favourites

you understand those two concepts?

they are the favourites, but they are not playing well at
all... YET

they didn't play good in the last world championship either
but they still won. they must be the luckiest football team
ever :)

YES THEY ARE.

and as I said the last world cup should be erased from
everyone's memory. it's not really a point of comparission.

lets make a bet. let me watch brazil's next game but i'm
gonna bet brazil doesn't make it to the final.

i don't know what can we bet but yeah.

you know, all the favourites played on a lower level so far
but they all mostly won. with exception of argentina maybe
though i wasn't all that impressed. if they game would last
10 more minutes it would have been 12-0..

the thing is, that the teams who play against these
'favourites' usually try their best and play 110%, and the
favourites play just enough to take the win..you should know
better by now :)

i think the effect is opposite. when a team plays a BIG
team, they feel more pressured, and play worse, this is why
big teams stay being big.

yay spain are through. they have an easy group but the have
played great. puyol setting up that goal for torres the last
game was sheer class. goal of the tournament for me.

bad news for australia is that harry kewell could be
suspended for the next match. :(

brazil had 4 times as many free kicks, and brazils second
goal was a clear offside.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2006-06-19 20:04 [#01923520]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

haha, yeah australia should have won that match. they were
clearly a better team :)

offline DaggerHappy from Australia on 2006-06-19 20:11 [#01923523]

fuck, their first goal should have been offside too. look at
where ronaldo is when the ball is played to him.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2006-06-19 20:13 [#01923524]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

see, ronaldo is excused of offsides because he's too fat to
move. the lucky bastard.

offline DaggerHappy from Australia on 2006-06-19 20:15 [#01923525]
Points: 662 Status: Lurker

yeah, while the ball was in motion, three socceroos ran
infront of him. i'm sure if they didn't feel so threatened
by him, they would have stood where they were and appealed
for offside.

"spain suffered today, but again played the finest
football
of the tournament "

Spain displayed some excellent football once again against
Tunesia. This has to be the first time in decades that Spain
actually prove themselves on the big stage even though they
got the best national competition and usually alot of big
name players in their squad. I'm not even a fan of the Spain
national squad, so they have to work twice as hard to
impress me, which they have done so far.
Didn't think Torres deserved a penalty though and he hit it
really poor too. But the players found each other very very
easily and I saw some complex "one-touch-football" that was
enjoyable to watch.
Similarly I tremendously enjoyed watching the Czech Republic
trample over the USA and Argentina thumping Serbia was also
nice. It a shame Ivory Coast had to be in the group with
Holland and Argentina because they were better but not
luckier than their opponents twice in a row and so lost
those two matches very undeservedly but hey that's
football.
Brasil looks and plays like a sack of potatoes, but then
again they play like that most of the time and still make it
to at least the finals. England, well it's unbelievable how
crap they are playing having a squad of their stature.
They've got some of the biggest names from front to end and
still I've never seen a more uninspiring and bland bunch
than that. They should be glad that Ericksson is quitting
because I can't imagine it getting worse than this. And
France.........well..... nevermind

England was lucky... Sweden has some great chances to kill
the match in 2nd half... for example, two hits in the
bar...

Germany is up next. I predict a swedish victory... and we
might even have our best team then... with Zlatan on top.
