so 1st half holland looked ok, second half they lost control midfield, but Ivory coast couldn't capitalise. Wonder who'll be Hollands challengers in the 8th finals...if they play like the second half, they'll die |

Yep, Holland didn't even build up an attack in de 2nd half.. most of the possession was lost due to a long ball (something that doesn't fit their style). Even van der Sar kicked the ball to the other side a few times. It was a panicky played 2nd half, much enjoyable. I really had the wind up all of the time. |

well i'm really happy i was proved wrong about the argentinians tonight, fantastic football.. i bet other teams will be well wary as they look to be the serious faves all of a sudden... no team has played like this since it all started. i'm glad Messi came on, he's a natural. it was the attitude i hated against the ivory coast, but tonight the attitude was superb.. in fact i love the dutch team, but they played rough against the ivory coast today... maybe it's an ego thing i dunno. |

offside: (general situation) being between the last defender and the goalkeeper in the moment that someone from your team hits the ball to pass it to you there are some other situations, but this is like the general basis. also if a player from your team hits the ball, as a shot on goal, and you are between the last defender and the goalkeeper and you disturb the goalkeeper´s visibility or movility. (this is, if you have influence in the result of the game) if the ball comes from a player from other team, it is not offside, no matter what your position is if you are already behind the goalkeeper, there must be two defenders ahead of you, if there is none or just one (in the moment of the pass) then its offside if the pass doesnt go to the player who is offside, but goes to a player that is in correct position, and then he scores, that is not offside, cos you didnt make any influence in the game... but if afterwards that other player passes the ball to you, then its offside cos you are taking advantage of your pevious illegal situation there must be some other cases I dont remember now |
