hey im getting right into this!
now i normally hate games that are set entirely at night but this has got me sucked in. theyve done a good job of cranking a big-city feeling through the old ps2.
the few weeks i spent playing gran turismo 4 have paid off, im wiping the floor with these guys, which makes it even better :)
it all got better when i turned off the music. i got put off the soundtrack in the first five minutes when wolfmother made an appearance. dreadful band, one of the most overplayed last year.

playing through the second phoenix wright game and it's definitely not anywhere near as good as the first one, but i want to get through it in time for the third game, which is supposedly the best out of the original trilogy. the major fault of the second game is the bland translation that's rife with grammatical errors.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3... I really shouldn't have paid full price for this... it doesn't seem to differ from the Xbox NG much at all so far. It's more ''Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes'' than ''Resident Evil Gamecube''.
It's beautiful, but the original NG is ALSO beautiful, to this day. I guess it was Itagaki's gift for hardliner Sony fanboys or something. Still a spectacular game. I'm almost afraid to progress, because while I've beaten this before, it was not without much weeping and gnashing of teeth. I'm not good at these kind of games.

Speaking of action games, the Heavenly Sword demo is up on PSN now, and it's sort of fantastic. The fighting mechanics and physics feel great. Standing still, the game is VERY beautiful, but the framerate isn't very good. Especially after playing Ninja Gaiden in blazing 60fps GLORY. They need to improve it. Looks to be a great game though.

Started a new Darkness save, this time on Hard. It's sort of rewarding, I don't think I did the game justice playing it on normal before, now my Darklings are actually useful and I find myself having to knock out almost every light I see, whereas before that wasn't a big part of my gameplan. And I discovered some new sidequests I didn't do before. Wonderful game, Riddick + Darkness = yay 4 Starbreeze.

It was just weird how hard the beginning of the game was now that you die in like 2 hits. When you team up with Mike Patton, it's all good, but it took me a good half hour to get out of the construction site this time. I don't like being thrown to the wolves like that at the start of a game.

hmm, so far persona 3 is pretty good. i stayed up until 7am playing it, something i've only really done with yakuza and final fantasy xii lately. the gameplay mechanics are very addicting and, like final fantasy xii, become more complex as the game goes on. the battle system, for once, isn't just mashing the A button to spam the attack option. weaknesses and strengths play an even more important role than in final fantasy xii, which i thought handled it well as well.
the reason why i got the game -- to pretend i'm a japanese teenager -- is well done but not as good as i hoped, since you never have enough time to do everything you want to in a day. still, i think this will get better the more i play. i only have about 7 hours logged into the game at the moment.
i'd say it's recommended for people who want a quirky rpg with a focus on modern japanese culture. but people already know that.

Got Warhawk for PS3 this morning. This game is multi-player only and I rarely play online games, but all the cool PS3 kids are playing this and talking about so I got it so I can talk about too. Not my thing but at least it lives up to the hype, awesome maps, crazy action on 32 players and the onfoot/ground vehicle/warhawk are all vastly different, but well balanced. I don't know how many times already some guy on foot has shot me down while I was clumsily strafing him in a warhawk, god I suck.
My PSN name is revolverjgw, in the unlikely event some of you are also Warhawking.

Warhawk is multiplayer only? I love multiplayer, but I don't buy games without at least a cursory single player campaign to allow for a hiatus from multiplayer when it becomes too frustrating. Other than that, Warhawk looked really cool.

Neither do I usually, and there's no reason why this game couldn't have had one. I just wanted to give my PS3 a workout before the holiday deluge, it was getting cold. Heavenly Sword is only 7 hours long and there's not a hell of a lot else to play right now.
(Metal Gear Online is also multi-player only, but there was a never a question in my mind that I'd be getting that)
Warhawk definitely came along at the right time for PS3 owners, it is fucking awesome. I'm hooked, played it for 6-7 hours yesterday and can't wait to get back into the fray today. Every option in this game is just so darn... viable. Expertly balanced, you're as dangerous sneaking around the bush on foot with a knife as you are in the sky in a Warhawk with a 2000 lb payload, no more no less. Everybody is employing a different strategy at all times because everything works.
Well, there's this one map in the sky where tanks and useless and it pisses me off because tanks are my specialty, but other than that, it's so perfectly designed. The dogfighting is so satisfying.
I tend to burn out on this stuff fast though, and when Halo 3 hits... I guess a ton of people are going to migrate over there. And I wonder what kind of legs this game will have... SOCOM is coming. But it has overtaken Resistance for the best online on the PS3 for the moment.

i'd say it goes 1, 3, 2 (much like metal gear solid for me)
1 was great. huge and immersive. one of the best, if not the best gamecube game.
3 on the wii isn't as good but close. it's an easier, simpler game compared to the others. less weapon variations and no light/dark worlds (2nd game) the interactivity with other characters and the story line is a bit strange at first, but overall you forget about it and it's a good old metroid game. the wii mote immerses you more into the game. very interesting level design and artwork.
2 i thought of as a let down. a bit too much with the seperate worlds and weapons.
although i recommend finishing the 1st game, haha, it has no real bearing on whether you can enjoy the 3rd game

Are you EVER going to beat that game? I guess you're still scrolling through all that text.
I got Heavenly Sword today but more importantly while there I also found Syphon Filter- Dark Mirror for PS2. SF was my favorite series on the PS1, and the first PS2 SF was very mediocre. This, on the other, hand, is awesome, by far the best PSP game. Should have been on a console in the first place.
The PSP is weird, tons of good meaty games, but all of which are better suited for the PS2 than a portable.
Heavenly Sword is a lot of fun and a treat to look at, but I don't expect another God of War or Ninja Gaiden here. Should be a fun way to spend this Sunday afternoon, I'll kill a lot of guys and see some nice panty shots, then I'll regret paying full price for it.

Fucking awesome. The game says "screwww graphics" and focuses on sharp and fun game play along with a highly in-depth franchise mode, complete with practice for individual players. The game showcases more player development and control over one's team than I have ever seen in a baseball game. Get it.

I've mostly just been playing Warhawk, camping out for 20 minutes at a time on mountains 2 miles away from the action picking people off with sniper rifles and airstrikes. Which I guess is why I'm getting murdered when I play Team Fortress 2, there's nowhere to hide in those tight spaces. I need to be able to play like a coward or I can't have fun.
Ratchet and Clank might be out tomorrow. That Contra-meets-Mario never gets old and the demo is like playing a Pixar movie and I'm so psyched (sp?).

late reply to optimus: 3 visors. scan visor, for info on things. normal visor, for normal stuff (haha). advanced visor (not sure if this is what it's called) semi x-ray looking dull blue bright red/orange colors that pick up thing the 'high frequency' gun can shoot. also the guns, while upgradeable as the game goes on, layer on top of each other so there isn't gun switching aside from the hypermode which is present throughout the whole game.
anddddddd i'm playing mlb power pros. sweet simple and highly deep kiddie looking baseball sim on the wii. closest thing to a modern rbi baseball ala nes you'll get.
and a lot of virtual console shit. donkey kong country. wave race 64. mario bros 2 lost levels.
