BOC has been building up stocks of medical gases in
preparation for the pandemic, the company said, and has also
increased its fleet of tankers for trucking gas to
hospitals.

I reckon sex workers should be declared an “essential
service”. They could offer very cleanly, masked sex, with
gloves and God knows what else 👍

They're talking about ending it in May here but I think
that's horseshit. Shutdown will continue until early July at
minimum. (in any sane country with policy that's driven by
the unvarnished truth)

And yes, the world is hornt as never before.

The US has suffered more confirmed coronavirus deaths
than any other country and on Saturday was poised to soon
reach 19,000 Covid-19 fatalities, new data indicated.

By Saturday afternoon, Johns Hopkins University’s tally of
US Covid-19 fatalities was at 18,860. Italy followed with
18,849. The US was also the first country to report 2,000
deaths in a single day, with 2,108 people dying in the
previous 24 hours.

USA #1

my grandma lived through the great depression, WWII, and
then the cold war. my father told endless stories of her
almost burning down the house making candles from fat
drippings and other absurd lengths she would go through to
avoid spending any money at all, ever. the great depression
was what really did it, apparently... and, yes, i think this
will effect people in a subtle but lasting way. even when
the virus threat has passed, people may have a different
outlook and remain frugal, keep a full freezer at all times

politics, however, will likely remain about the same

i've been to a stylist here and there, but i've largely been
cutting my own hair for at least a decade. a month or two
ago at work, the topic came up. everyone was all...
"dfgjlkdfg you cut your own hair? how? how do you
do the back
"

corny as this is, part of the reason was i actually read an
interview with liam of the prodigy saying he cut his own
hair, and the interviewer's reaction was similar. his answer
was, "oh, just go slow and don't cut too much" and that's
solid starting advice

as for the back, where you can't see, you run a bit through
your index and middle finger, repeated scans and you start
to have a clear feel of which bits are too long. gradually
reduce them all, don't chop off chunks. the worst problem,
really, is it's super fucking tedious and slow, and the hair
gets everywhere. despite that, i often do it in multiple
sessions: most one day, then clean it up in reducing
amounts. occasionally just clip stuff out of the way that i
missed last round

i guess i'm aright at it, given how gobsmacked people at
work were when i started talking about it

tired of not going anywhere so i drove out to the better
grocery store a ways out. it was wonderful to drive around,
actually. streams of green lights. on the way back, i
realized: i'm not sure i've ever, ever coasted through all
these lights in a row. this is like it was twenty years ago,
traffic-wise. it was sunset and i was timing my driving to
rhythm and stealth

the store itself, however, was absolute shit. people are all
wearing masks now, there are arrows in electrical tape and
some people are being studious about it, others ignoring,
generally serious anxiety vibes. i walked into it feeling
rather sedated, but after a few minutes, something in the
back of my brain announced: i can't think straight

these fucking arrows, people being weird, i can't think
straight. i literally cannot remember what else i wanted to
get here. my memory is fine, there's too much psychic
crossfire to access it. let's just accept we will miss stuff
and grab a bunch of crap as we go through the aisles
