well now spain will want to win, I was afraid that germany
ended 2nd, cos in that case i would prefer spain to be in
2nd place so we didnt meet germany so soon

dont get me wrong...i respect ireland´s team, and I am sure
they can win any team, but on the paper, its easier than
germany, which by its history always gets very far in the
competition... I hope you understand me...I am sure ireland
can win spain, but we will do our best to pass.

article:

Spanish striker Raul offered no sympathy for team mates
Zinedine Zidane and Claude Makelele, after the shock
elimination of France in the first round of the World Cup.

"France were one of our rivals for the competition and I can
only think about the concerns of the Spanish team," said
Raul, who plays alongside Zidane and Makelele at Spanish
giants Real Madrid.

"France were expected to challenge for the title again so
now that's one of our rivals gone."

The defending champions managed just a single point from
their three games in the opening group phase and failed to
score a goal, as Denmark and Senegal qualified for the
second round.

"It was a surprise," Raul said. "France were one of the
favourites for everyone.

"In footballing terms you have to say Denmark and Senegal
deserved to go through, though. They played better than
France."

more articles:
about england:
- England, who have never lost to an African side, could
face two in succession with a place in the World Cup
quarter-finals at stake.
England meet Nigeria in Osaka on Wednesday in their final
group F game, needing only a draw to reach the second
round.
Should England win and overtake group leaders Sweden, who
are playing pre-tournament favourites Argentina, they would
face group A runners-up Senegal for the first time.
Of the unbeaten record, manager Sven-Goran Eriksson warned
on Tuesday: "There's always a first time in life --
hopefully it will not be tomorrow. But you never know.
"I have a lot of respect for African football -- I think
Nigeria, Cameroon and Senegal are big, big football
countries."
Wednesday's game will be England's 13th against an African
side, and they have previously won nine and drawn three.
Their only previous match against Nigeria was a 1-0 friendly
win at Wembley in 1994.
However, England were seconds away from suffering a defeat
to Cameroon in a pre-World Cup friendly in Kobe on May 26,
trailing 2-1 before an injury-time header by substitute
Robbie Fowler secured a 2-2 draw.
In World Cups, England have won three and drawn one of their
four games against African opposition, including a memorable
3-2 extra-time victory over Cameroon in the 1990
quarter-finals.
Eriksson was also wary of reading anything into the fact
that the last time a reigning world champion was knocked out
of the first round, Brazil in 1966, England won the
tournament.
"It's important that we think just about the 90 minutes
tomorrow and not what happened in 1966," said the Swede.

matches... and about to end the first half?... well as time

sweden can take their chance in a strike back

England v Nigeria

subdued performance by England , Nigeria started brightly ..
but Scholes and Owen got going and made some good chances.

second half> England created a few chances but soon the game
slowed down to a stroll and Nigeria seemed content to
collect their only point of the tournament. England settled
for it too without really attacking to win the group.

England must now play a better attacking game if they are to
beat Denmark who have scored 5 to Englands 2 so far...

Rio Ferdinand: Man of the match (again)

I am totally shock...
I cant believe this
france, argentina, uruguay and camerun ... 2 of them
favorites for the cup and the other tow...I thought they
would get to 1/4 finals...

at the begining i thought that was the hard part of the
draw...(argentina, england, brazil, france, uruguay...) and
in my part only germany, italy and portugal... now this is
the toughst side I thnk...as france and argentina are
gone...

Oh this is soooooooooo great man.

Scandinavian domination!

Its good that sweden and denmark are not to face each other,
because then there would be a bigger chance of scandinavian
victory!

And if england plays us like they did to nigeria, i seriusly
think where gonna win!

Well, Jens Larsen, its weird because on the paper he should
be a wery good at it, but he just decided to fuck up badly
in that match! And it was two beautifull goals, thats the
worst thing. They deserved to win, no doubt about it.
pity.

Italians remeber Larsen 2 years ago in the match
FRANCE-ITALY... he hadn't a great day too (obviously always
against Italy)

Anyway, we must look to the future and especially to our
match of tomorrow against the Mexico of Blanco and
Hernandez.

I want you to pass and be first of your group, so that spain
waits for you in the semifinals... if you end second of your
group then we will probably meet in the 1/4 finals (if spain
passes through ireland)... so please win

ok this is the spanish eleven for today:

casillas (european champion)

romero (spanish cup champion)
helguera (european champion)
nadal
curro torres (spanish league champion)

mendieta (lazio...not good this year...but...)
joaquin
xavi (barça´s midfielder)
albelda (spanish leagu champion)

raul (no need to describe him)
morientes (well...)

(today some will not play such as hierro, puyol, valeron,
luis enrique, tristan, de pedro, baraja, juanfran....buuff
they are sooo good)

7 of them were not in the initial team in the past two
matches, and I still think its a great team...lets see what
happens.

I think spain HASN´T got the best initial eleven players of
the world cup... but i think we DO have the best 23, I mean
we have lots of nice people for sustitutions.
with 23 players we can do 2 very competitive teams.

I hope they come up to my expectations

so far this is a strange match, but we are winning.
