I didnt expect this result...of course I am glad for my english friends here in the board...but I didnt expect england to have such an easy match.... 3-0
with erickson england seems to be a team better in defense, that waits for a good oportunity to kill their opponents without taking any risk in their back lines, and they have beckam and owen to deal with their quality

I think England could work some more on their offensive play.
These goals where caused by danish screw ups in the deffense imo , it will take more to win in the future.

well probably next match will be against brazil, so ...
even though brazil has great players, they dont play that good as a team, and this is very important to beat a team that has a solid defense such as the erickson´s england... so if english manage to keep their goal on 0 they make take a chance on corners and some genious pass by beckam... I think england can beat brazil...though in theory brazil has my vote to pass

I agree. England is very strong when it comes to corner situations. I think they can beat Brazil if they can keep their heads cool.
They have very very strong suport in japan , i think that helps to.
Mills has problems with his temper , i predict a red card in next game if not Erickson has a talk with him.

article:
England went two goals ahead in the opening half hour and controlled the sluggish Danes from there out to win a place in the quarter-finals. England will meet the victor of the Brazil v. Belgium match.
Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, and Emile Heskey were the goal-scoring heroes, though a fit-again David Beckham was consistently outstanding for the English. Denmark, who slew France in the opening round, never seemed to recover from the early deficit in Niigata. It's the FIRST time that Denmark have failed to score in a FIFA World Cupâ„¢ match

A good example of Englands strenght was the corner goal against sweden.
The experts on swedish TV showed it on rerun after the game and explained how everybody new exactly where to stand and run , they completely fooled the swedes.
Owen for example stood in front of our goalie (Hedman) and blocked him so he could not reach the ball in time , a classic basketball "screening" .
Campbel came from nowhere and was completely free to use his head.

so far we have england and germany in the best 8 of the world cup... who will meet them?
probably:
BRAZIL - belgium MEXICO - usa ITALY - korea SWEDEN - senegal
and then those who win their matches between:
spain and ireland turkey and japan
which are the most equilibrated matches I think.
anyway my heart of course tells me that we could pass so I would bet for:
SPAIN - ireland JAPAN - turkey
so:
germany - mexico italy - spain
brazil - england japan - sweden

You don't need to , you got Raul =) I love that guy , he doesen't look like a profesional football player , he look like a lazy guy working with computers or something cause he is so skinny.
But still he is one of the best!! I remember his goal against Poland (i think?) , fooling one player completely and shooting the goal tunnel thru another player in the same move , Amazig!!!

so far the goal that I liked the most in the world cup was...:
korea - portugal- (1-0) brazil - costa rica .... the one edmilson scored
brazil - turkey. the one ronaldo scored
spain - slovenia.... the one by valeron (it was the 2-0)
paraguay - slovenia....the one that cuevas scored (it was the 3-1)
senegal - uruguay (it was scored by diop in a great strike back...it was the 2-0)
rusia - japan ...the only goal was scored... by inamoto. (1-0)
I cant think of any other right now

cogratulation England. thank to them i won for my bet. this game is one-sided victory. anyway england is very strong. that's why they took advantage of a few chance to strike a goal. they are threat.

yeah, I watched a game between, hmmm who was it? Ummm, I forget now, but it was fantastic... one team got off to a 2-0 lead or something, then they eventually scored another goal, and the other team came back and at least got it to within one goal, or maybe even tied it... I can't remember!! But it was an excellent game!! :)

sengal - sweden
ireland - spain
make your bets what do you think will happen??? I think sweden should win senegal cos the swedish team is so organized and well defending and also have good strikers... in general a very competitive team... senegal on the other hand has some other skills such as a tremendous power, speed and therefore a great strike back...but they are not as disciplined as the swedish...

article
Historically, the Spanish and the Irish have been connected in many ways. However, these two nations with turbulent 20th century histories have never met in the final stages of a European Championship or a FIFA World Cupâ„¢ and they have very different reputations on the world footballing stage.
The Spanish are regarded by many as the most famous underachievers in FIFA World Cup history, while the Irish can make a claim to being consistent overachievers for the past 15 years.

Ok .. swap denmark with england in my prediction ..
could be a england spain final after all!!! ... have to say sven is doing a wonderful job - mercenary and calculated to the bone - but hell effective.
And yeah, i reckon england definetly (if they play like they have) capable of beating brazil, but its one of those matches where anything could happen - a red card could destroy either team ??

Sweden-Senegal 1-1 in first half. Shit!!!!! it's not looking good at all. Its all Senegal , they are given to much space and time. We must control the ball more. Senegal plays dirty to , lots of arms. Someone need to tell them this is not hockey for christ sake!!!!!!
One swede in bandage alredy , crappy refere.
Not good at all.... I hope sweden pull together their team in second half.
