I like some good players from japan as nakata and inamoto
(this last made some beautiful and difficult goals)

I hope raul makes a good championship, I am glad that even
in japan he is known

where is football going to
defensive oriented teams are wining
(except for the brazil-but they are playing in an easy
group)
its a shame to see french out of the competition-they play
the most attractive football imo

well 0 goals in 3 matches is not very offensive...they are
out cos they have done nothing, and this is the world cup...
no faults allowed

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2002-06-11 09:35 [#00259949]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

are u serious?
they played around denmark's goal for the whole second half
it can't get any more offensive than that

read this article fromm fifa.com:

The stakes couldn't be higher when France play Denmark on
Tuesday. But hey, what's new? Since 1984, the two sides have

crossed swords on numerous ocasions, and incredibly,
whenever they have met in an official tournament, the winner

has gone on to capture the trophy. An amazing statistic,
which currently stands three to one in favour of the French.

anybody thinks denmark could win the cup??

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2002-06-11 09:37 [#00259951]

it must be pretty hard to score if the opponent team is
playing infront of own goal with all the players all the
time

I think you are overrating france...they are good, but not
as 2 years ago, I think that era is over, they need to renew
players

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2002-06-11 09:38 [#00259953]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

i don't think they can really win
except if they are not going to be as lucky as today

offline nacmat on 2002-06-11 09:39 [#00259955]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

anyway france was my favotrite to win the cup... but 0 goals
in three matches, I think there is no excuse for that

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2002-06-11 09:40 [#00259956]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

its probably tough time for france to come
because i don't think they have a new zidane coming-he is
the best player there is imo

offline nacmat on 2002-06-11 09:41 [#00259957]

denmark has done their match... they waited their moment to
strike back, and they did it very good, besides they´ve
played a great football in the last two matches, they are a
good leader of the group

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2002-06-11 09:42 [#00259958]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

its shame they didn0t score
but they had a lot of chances
i mean trezeguet ussually don't miss oportunities like the
one's he had today

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2002-06-11 09:44 [#00259959]

i don't want to take anything away from denmark-but their
football its just not attractive to watch

Hands up ... Who bet on France scoring "zero" in the world
cup and going home after 11 days ?

FANTASTIC !!!! :D

I love this world cup so much !!

The gap between all the sides is narrowing, and that is
GREAT for football !!

PS> France rode their luck in 1998 & 2000 to win with
penalties , injury time equalisers , and golden goals....
No-one can say they deserve to qualify this time, they have
used up their luck !! Thats life mon amis !! . I always
believe the team that qualifies deserve to qualify, that way
you don't get grumpy if you lose, and lets all feel good for
the qualifiers !!! The onus is on France to prove their
credentials AND THEY COULDN'T EVEN SCORE !! I'm sorry
Tolstoyed, but when opponents put men behind the ball, you
have to grind them down and France couldn't !! merde ! zut
alors !
allez les rouges !!!!

:D

(did you see Morales header in injury time to put Uruguay
through 4-3 ?.. he missed an open goal from 3 yards !!)

I totally agree with you about France... they finished their
luck, they won against us 2 times, in 1998 at penalties and
2000 at golden goal.
For Italians it was really too much...

I like the irish spirit, they play very hard but
honestly...nice team, but I hope we can win...anyway
anything could happen.
besides spain isnt still the first, they have to play
tomorrow, and if we loose, then we are 2nd.
