i don't think things would end in a better way for slovenia if zahovic played
our team is just not competative enough to play against teams with more experience
and i don't think thinghs can get any better with the way football is treated in our country
i would like to see italy wining the world cup now that france failed to qualify
so i hope italy starts to put more effort into offense-so we can all enjoy watching vieri, inzaghi(or montella)and totti

IM SO HAPPY!!!! =)
But allso very irritated. The swedish people has voted Slatan Ibrahimovich for greatest swedish player during world cup.
HE HAS ONLY PLAYED LIKE 10 MINUTES TOTAL AND THAT WAS TODAY!!!!
Very ignorant by the voters.Slatan is very overrated imo.
And Anders Svensson was voted greatest player in todays match , well thats fare enough , he did a great goal but i think without for example our defensive players Johan Mjälby and Andreas Jacobsson Argentina would have won with 8-0 !!! They did a amazing job today , im very impressed.

article by carlos alberto parreira fom brazil
spain - south africa:
It was an exciting game with five goals and two teams which fought until the very end. The goal from Spain came too early, and generally speaking South Africa had a few setbacks that forced them to fight for the result. There was a global balance in the game but Spain proved to be more effective in using their opportunities, with two very good strikers like Raul and Morientes. Although Camacho made many changes in his team from the first two games, they kept their standard. Both teams played with the same basic 4-4-2 formations, but with two different styles of play, two different schools of football. Spain played a compact game based on ball control and passing, for which 1-2 combinations brought a lot of speed and fluidity. South Africa played with skill, moving and dribbling, constantly pushing up front with McCarthy and Fortune, two very good players who created a lot of chances. It was difficult for the Spanish defense but the two centre backs Helguera and Nadal were excellent and managed to block most attacks. It is interesting to notice that Raul came back in midfield to make the link with the attacking line. Spain also developed their game in counter attacks with Curro Torres, Raul and very much attacked on the right side with a very good Joaquin. The result was fair because Spain made a better use of their chances. They were more efficient in the game. South Africa made mistakes on all the goals they conceded, such as the first one by the goalkeeper, the one on Mendieta’s free-kick and even Raul’s second, as he was alone in the box, but they never gave up and fought for the result until the very last minutes. A very exciting game on the whole.

i hope this doesn't sound too bad- i think u have a very good team: great strikers-raul,morientes and tristan solid defense but i think u need a player like zidane or figo-player that can create game
perhaps mendieta could do it but he is playing in a wrong position imo
xavi could do it in years to come
the way thinghs are going spain may win the cup-it wouldn't be a big surprise for me-and it would be a great thing to see your country wining because i know how much would that mean to people there
spain is the biggest football country in europe-i mean u can't see anywhere else in europe the situation alike barcelona and real playing

raul is one of my favourite players-but his primarily concern is to score-its what he is best at
when i say a player like zidane i mean a player that is playing in midfield and brings the ball forward to strikers
and raul its just to good in scoring so it would be a waste if he played more in the midfield

I understand what you say... ok, when spain plays next match, take a look to Valeron (Juan Carlos Valeron is his full name) I hope he does a good match so you can see the rel great player he is (very creative).
he playes for "Deportivo de La Coruña" team that won juventus, manchester and arsenal in the first rounds of the champions league, then they lost against manchester in 1/4 finals but they did great football till march...and with a big importance of this great player

Today we should play with Totti, Inzaghi e Vieri, so much more offensive than last match.
Anyway I'm worry... the ball is round, the referee and linesmen are in trap, everything could happen.

We're carefull, mate. I don't know if we'll win against Mexico 'cos 2 are the problems:
1) Mexico is a strong team so we'll be a very hard match. 2) Referee and Linesmen are always ready... to make mistakes... against us :(

today, klose (german striker) said that they would have preferred spain in the 1/8 finals cos he thinks that spain is an easier team to beat than paraguay.
I think he is stupid if he really thinks that... by the way what has klose won so far? cos raul, hierro, morientes, helguera and casillas have won 3 champions leagues in 5 years, mendieta, albelda and baraja have been runners up of the champions league twice in a row in the last 3 years...
I know many german players are great players from great teams such a bayern munich (champions league 2001) but in spain we have won great things too, so klose better be carefull with what he says... he should learn of what happened this year to bayern munich:
munich won real madrid 2-1 in munich and they said that madrid was a team that didnt do it well under preassure, and kahn said that it was impossible that madrid scored 2 goals in bernabeu.... well they lost 2-0 and they had to eat their words... so better talk in the field than in the papers.

turkish always do a great job... with galatasaray its the same, they havent got a great quality, but they are highly competitive, galatasaray is always on top of the champions league, and they won the uefa cup 2 years ago... the team that plays against turkey in 1/8 finals will have to fight till the end to beat them (look how much brazil suffered to win)

Germany are renowned for talking up their opponents- in a reverse psychology trick.
They are clever and have seen what happened to France and Argentina who talked up their chances and underestimated their opponents.
Of course Germany would rather play Paraguay than Spain, but they are trying to win a psychological trick over the Paraguayans, Germans are well known for such mind-games :)

thanks woofer and toltoyed... hehehe
now I dont wanna make the same mistake with Ireland.
we respect the irish a lot, they have qualified with germany and camerun in their group (camerun is the olimpic gold of 2000) and none of them could win them...so its gonna be very difficult, and its just 90 minutes, anything could happen.
besides we remember how ireland got to this world cup: they were in the same group as portugal and netherlands, and they qualified sending the orange clockwork home (kluivert, overmars, van nistelroy, stam, de boer, hasselbank, cocu...) so if spain wants to pass we will have to do our best match...
