Hey! Autechre will listen to ALL remixes. The winner picked
by them can be one of the contributions NOT selected by the
Xltronic crew. Who knows?

i know i won't win the autechre's choice. i'm not good
enough.
i didn't even made a remix. just a two song mix. maybe i
have even broken some copyright's and i will be
disqualified... wonderful

ahhhahahahah!!!!

how can people live their lifes like "i shoudn't even be
allowed whatthefuck"

'outside' problems are way enough, no need to build up the
strongest barriers inside

i think this is bullshit that new users can participate...
that's not fair. i think that if someone like this wins i'll
be really mad

rising waves.

sadist: uhh..

everyone else: i don't think anyone should get upset about
people joining just to participate in the contest. nothing
wrong with a little friendly competition. if anything, i
think this will keep everyone on their toes to really work
hard on their bits.. thinking, "oh gosh, who knows what
those newbies have up their sleeve"

Just try your best and have fun is what I say.

they will email themselves congratulating themselves on the
awesome track.

then they will send themselves lego feet

upon which they will go to their mail box and be all "WOAH.
AUTECHRE SETN ME LEGOFETTZ!"

then they will put it up on ebay

hahahahahahaha. that would be funny. you know they'd be all
nervous about it too, like "what if we don't like our

song?" hahahahaha

oooooh... i was under the impression that ae was going to
listen to just the top 15 winners..
this is even cooler now..

hah, they must be pretty sadistic agreeing to listen to the
(probably) hundred something amateur remixes
..must have hit a streak of bordom after finishing their new
album heheh

kinda reminds me of when they agreed to that q&a session on
the warp site.. they must have been kicking themselves after
a week of that...

you could get a sense of a 'ohh why the fuck did we do this'
feeling in their answers towards the end

there should probably be some kind of limit to who can
enter, not based on points, but like by the register date,
because it's really not fair for people to join just for
this contest

well that means i win then! i'm member #0008!

I think splodgechops "dj's" or whatever with some of the
schematiconians. I havn't heard any of his stuff though. I
hope this contest brings out some wicked tracks in people.
The more who participate the merrier. It's strange that they
do their official remix contest (the only one I've ever
heard of them doing) thingamajig through this site. Maybe
phobiazero is their uncle. My poor little modplug tracker is
going to be pretty tired after this. I wonder if
funkstorung, crunch etc etc will participate. I hope so.

his past posts

i dont think he's mike p though, as some seem to have
suggested

how do you seperate the audio files if you dont have them
seperated in the first place?

offline disasemble from United States on 2003-04-04 00:09 [#00631773]
Points: 1448 Status: Regular

you just dont seperate them?

just extract loops, snares, kicks, whatever.

or you can granulate things into oblivion and wave shape
them into kick drums or people eating sandwiches or whatever
suits your yes

experiment! have fun!

F-U-N!

I don't wanne be a little prick but the border between remix
and cover are thin IMO. Could you please define both therms
please. Especially relating to use of own sounds and samples
from the original. Lets say I made a midi version of the
track I'm about to do and I can play around with that
without any input from the original, is that a cover or a
remix?

or reconstruct similar aspects of music with your own
instruments and samples

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-04-04 03:04 [#00631974]
Points: 10513 Status: Lurker

i agree. sometimes there is a very questionable line between
remix and cover.

offline raimons from Stockholm (Sweden) on 2003-04-04 04:31 [#00632121]
Points: 4266 Status: Lurker

been thinking of that too. lets say if a made a version of
"VI scose poise" only wity piano. is that a cover or a
remix?

offline raimons from Stockholm (Sweden) on 2003-04-04 04:33 [#00632124]
Points: 4266 Status: Lurker

You all know aphex has done some remixes that you really
cant tell if he has used the oroginal sounds or not.

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-04-04 10:08 [#00632425]
Points: 5264 Status: Lurker

it's a remix if any of the song is used to make something
different, even if it bears little reselmblance to the
original. if you played someone else's song and recorded it
with nothing but your own material, it would be a cover.
if a song does not use any of the original song's sounds or
source material, it's neither.
