I can ask the same question. a remix? a cover? what is the
difference? a remixcover or a coveremix. hmm...

ok, that made me doubtful.
1. can i use my own sounds?
2. can the track be made totally out of my own sounds?

i need to know the details very soon.

Phobiazero, you should set up a ftp / html server, were we
can upload our tracks !!

i've thought of that, but that would spoil the anonymity
since all users would be able to list the files.

offline sadist from the dark side of the moon on 2003-03-31 10:29 [#00625580]

i already sended mine. it's not even a remix but a two song
mix. very nice like my friends said.
but i don't really think i'll win the autechre's choice. the
member's choice maybe, cause it's quite good.

btw.: i think about 3 peolpe who can get the prize: qrter, w
M w, and od_step_cloak

SUGGESTION TO PHOBIAZERO:

Is there such thing as drop boxes on ftp servers (like on
Hotline) where people can upload files but can't read the
directory?

this is probably a bad idea to ask on my part, and someone
is likely to steal my idea, but i have to ask... does anyone
have any audio files of autechre being interviewed or
something? i cant find any.

there was a movie that came out a couple years ago. i can't
remember the title (ugg) but it had autechre interviewed in
it. I'll try to find out what it was called and post it

so, do all those people who mentioned which tracks they are
remixing earlier in the thread before it was made clear that
was against the rules have to change their tracks so they're
not disqualified?

just thought i'd ask to clear that up

offline evolume from seattle (United States) on 2003-03-31 14:51 [#00626016]

well they have it at amazon.com
'course it might take a while for them to ship it. good luck
anyway

offline redRummy from Brighton (United Kingdom) on 2003-03-31 14:54 [#00626028]

ermmm... there are no rules as to what/how you remix.... its
just that the tracks shouldn't be identifiable by user (to
preserve the purity of the voting :))

someone should really do Naftwa4 (from the warp party
sampler thing)... theres not too much going on in that track
so the sounds should be easy to seperate...

You put one too many o's in that.

It has not been made clear whether each individual is
allowed two seperate remixes OR if we are allowed to use the
elements of two seperate tracks in ONE remix. (I don't think
it has)

Xltronic will pick the Top 15 tracks...

what does this mean? like.. we all get to vote on all the
tracks submitted? the rules seem a little sweded out, i need
a little clarification please.

offline theo himself from +- on 2003-03-31 22:29 [#00626523]
Points: 3348 Status: Regular

'a little sweded out' he says.. hilarious

maybe, to avoid the bias that many may have (w/ the tracks
people have chosen to remix now known to many people here)
the 'people's choice' vote should be left up to people at
another site? watmm?

OR those who have chosen not to, or cannot create a track
for submission should volunteer (or phobia could invite/ask
certain people) to participate in the voting.. an xltronic
autechre contest judges panel should be formed out of those
who are not creating remixes for this contest.. otherwise
one could vote for his/her own track or vote for track
b because he felt track a was strong
competition... I'm telling you, the bias that comes with the
territory of being a contestant will be damaging to the
voting/judging process

offline teapot from Paddington (Australia) on 2003-03-31 23:09 [#00626539]

offline wayout from the street of crocodiles on 2003-04-01 00:35 [#00626604]

yeah, it would take forever and a day for everyone to listen
to every remix and then vote on them...

im still not clear on whether all the people who mentioned
what they were mixing earlier are still elligible with said
selections..
