ok

dont assume for a second you can answer all the questions of
life with science. thats not 'realistic' at all i dont think

No, some non-believers think Christianity is "OK with them"
and even "teaches some good morals". I say NO. It teaches
servitude, self degradation, fear, and above all blind
ignorance of the real world. Hardly OK with me.

nod, mappatazees view seems to be that if you don't believe
what he believes, you're an ignorant loser whom he wants to
slap... you go around acting like you have everything
figured out, but you don't... you seem to be retreating into
a corner now...

how do you define snotty?

not thinking what YOU think?

THAT sounds like servitude to me... expecting me to yes-man
you... like i said, you have a god complex.

To clarify rockenjohnny,
no I don't think everything can be answered with science,
nor do I think it will ever be. But using reality and
logic
are the only methods to answer anything
truthfully.

My big problem with Christianity is that it view the human
beings as essentially bad from the begining and that we will
transend to something better. I like being human and I can't
think of anything better than being one.

both sides could probably get along a lot better if they
concentrated on being civil to each other. my guess is that
a lot of non christians see christians as acting holier than
though, and a lot christians see non-believers as being
bitter and more close-minded than they think they are.

1. What was it like before you were born?
nothing
2. What is it like when you are unconscious?
nothing
3. Now what is it going to be like when you die?
nothing

it seems in these discussions there are some who will take
pleasure in downing upon anothers belief system. its not on
at all in my book.

who is a person to say another is wrong... my own views are
personal. i can see already that my disagreement is met with
another question

all i can do is reflect again from my own experiences. that
is all that is expected of me. it is important to question,
but just as important to be humble.

well, this is the dividing line... i dont buy human logic as
the be all end all, so there you go... there is where we
seperate then.

i believe things exist outside of what you or i have seen or
felt.

i had the same thought in post #2

but i held back from saying that.

:)

indeed how can one expect to be perceived as being open
minded when they present an intolerant front?

i guess its all a bit of learning curve though

ive sure had my moments when i was a bit younger, and i
thought i knew it all, thought i was hot shit.

the openminded one is, and it's not their opponent!

Well really, come on and think about it for a minute tibbar.
What happens when your brain stops functioning: nothing.
Your state of existence is grounded by real physical
processes in your brain, nothing else. As I've said in
another thread, you can probe your brain, destroy certain
parts, stimulate others, and it has a direct effect on your
state of consciousness, personality, emotion, etc.
Everything that makes you, you, is contained in the cells of
your brain and of your body. Nowhere else.
