I might buy it. Your future post may sway me.
Right now, I'm playing through Sly Cooper 2, which is an incredibly long game for a platformer, great game... you're totally uncool if you have a PS2 and you don't own it, it's only 30 bucks brand new. And the first Zone of the Enders for PS2. Super stylish, some cool 4/4 ''electronica'' in that game.

Right now I'm in what appears to be between chapters 2 & 3. So far so good. Seeing all the characters in the game is nice and nostalgic. The music is sweet. Gameplay is fun. I do have some complaints, but nothing major.
I'll wait til I'm done for a final analysis.
And of course, I'll have these little updates. Why? I don't know.

heheh well. harvest moon is one of the most addictive games i have played recently. one gets really into it - i can spend minutes and minutes just fishing in the game, and when you fish you basically don't even do anything. it's very simple and easy, but still enjoyable. i think it's slightly more 'easy-going' than harvest moon. i bet you would enjoy the graphics uzim :)

just in time really... got the "Mother" ending (don't know why this particular one is called "mother" though).
i didn't really have a problem with item fetch, but sometimes i was getting pissed off/lost in the subway world and in the final world, because of the slightly labyrinthic level design (i'm not a skilled one for orientation and memorizing places, it happens to me VERY often to enter a room, then inside this room try another door which is in fact the one i entered the room by....)

Yeah, the music is pretty horrible. Aside from the opening theme when the game starts up, all the rest of the music is pretty much piss poor. It sucks when you think back to FFX and compare the music from those areas to the same areas in FFX-2.

Ratchet and Clank- Up Your Arsenal. My topic about it was ignored, which is a shame because this series has maybe the sweetest action ever. 10/10 and then some.
In the next two weeks, I'll be buying Halo 2, GTA- SA (I've gotten far and I love it, but only a rental), Killzone, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metroid Prime 2 (if it's out, I forget the release date), Jak 3, a few others... it's out of control! Although most of them are sequels, I don't mind, they pretty much all build considerably onto previous games. I don't see anything regressive about using established characters, stories and universes for new games.

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes is out on november 26th, at least in Europe : )
i hope it will be as good as the first!! (that would be so awesome...)
i know the date per heart (besides it's just at the end of my first exams session... (i have four throughout the year))
Ratchett and Clank? i don't have any platform games for 128-bit consoles, even though it was my favourite genre before... (Donkey Kong Country, Goemon II on N64... and the old Sonic series on megadrive, Super Mario World too... those were the good days for platform games!!) i remember i liked Banjo-Kazooie on N64 even though it was a bit too "cartoony"/happy to my taste, but now every platform game seems to be like it, i lost interest : |

I finished star wars: knights of the old republic, on the Xbox not too long ago, I gotta say it was the best game experience in quite some time. It actually felt like playing a star wars movie and brought back that good ol' star wars feeling that was virtually destroyed by the last two movies.

I can't wait for Echoes, Jesus... I'm feeling so giddy.
Uzim- about 3-D platformers... I was disillusioned a year and a half ago, but I'm back into them hardcore, I think the PS2 has singlehandedly saved the genre and improved on it big time. I agree that Banjo Kazooie was a too cartoony and light... it was a well crafted game, but it was too ''kiddie''.
But the Jak, Ratchet and Sly Cooper series do everything right. They're cute, but they're also pretty sarcastic and not exactly geared towards just kids... I mean, look at the Ratchet and Clank 3 title... Up your Arsenal! And Sly Cooper is one of the most stylish and smart platformers ever, nice sneaky noir feel, and a very convincing Saturday Morning Cartoon presentation. It's excellent. There's also a lot of pop-culture references and spoofs in these games that younger players just won't get, the developers obviously put a lot of work into giving these games personality. Ratchet has some genuinely hilarious cut scenes (Captain Quark being one of the funniest characters EVER).
See, the problem I have with Nintendo's platformers is that they DON'T WANT TO OFFEND. And their characters have no character. Mario Sunshine is a fun game, but it's so obviously cherubic and cutesy. It's a bit annoying and dated. Mascot games all used to be like that. USED TO.
Nintedo is working on Mario ''128'' right now, but they really have their work cut for them, because the bar for 3-D platformers has been raised. Another Mario Sunshine will not cut it nowadays. The PS2 platformers are too big, clever, polished and inventive. As it stands right now, Mario Sunshine hardly cracks the 10 best platformers of this gen.
To quote IGN's recent review of Jak 3- ''If you like games, buy this immediately or we'll come to your house and beat you to death''
Seriously, if you haven't played a platformer in years, you might want to try one. They're certainly smarter and deeper games than Halo or Doom.

And since you mentioned Sonic... that series has gotten pretty stale, for the same reason. :_-( Horribly cheesy music (the Genesis games had some of the best music ever, period), and that stupid ''cool dude'' attitude. The Sonic Adventure games are nowhere near as good as the PS2 Holy Trinity. It's a shame, the 2D games in the series are so classic, I still play them from time to time and it's still fun.
(Sonic Adventure 1 was pretty cool, though)
Optimus- MGS3 is my most wanted game, I swear I'm shaking just thinking about it. And it's getting wonderful reviews, too. I think it's going to live up to the hype.
It's weird, since even though it's a huge franchise, it's kind of under the rader with Halo 2, GTA, Metroid and Half Life coming out... I think MGS is going to be the best of them.

The music is pretty good, mostly orchestrated, some electronic beats here and there... honestly, the music in these games is nothing spectacular... but that's a malady that affects MOST genres these days.
Take the new Contra... Neo Contra. Or the latest Castlevania. Lots of loud guitars and orchestras, lush, polished production, but the melodies and themes do not stand up to the soundtracks on the NES, SNES and Genesis. Pretty much the same thing here. None of these games have music as memorable as the Genesis Sonic games, but they're definitely not cutesy or annoying. Just good situational tunes, like in a movie.
Ratchet and Clank in particular is hardly cute at all... it's more action packed and violent than any first person shooter. You kill about 10 gigantic things per second, very Contra-ish. Ratchet is geared towards the action gamers (they're my favorite, I think this series has the most refined shooting/jumping/dodging/weapon system ever in a video game), and Jak is more adventure-based, huge world and stuff.
Mario Sunshine was definitely a let down... except musically. Koji Kondo still has it, I loved the soundtrack, especially Pinna Amusement and Noki Bay.
