...and liking Britney Spears doesn't make people stupid.

"they (hollywood) think thats what people want, they must
think we are stupid or something"

exactly, they do, which is a 'big' problem with their movies
recently, they dumb down the best of stories to get the
biggest audience. Then again aren't the majority of people
stupid anyway? Isn't that why films like Titanic, American
Pie and music like Britney and Westlife are popular?

I've heard Collateral, promising at first has a predictable
plot and hollywood ending. Shame, but doesn't surprise me.
Nor does your comments about irobot, the trailer is full of
stupid lines.

As for Batman and Robin being more entertaining than
Amelie... well maybe when you reach 20 and watch both again
you might think differently.

of course not

just makes me think that many people will like whatever they
are given

cos everybody like a good hitchcok movie... everybody

so if holywood did good movies people would like those good
movies, but as holiwood sees people will like anything they
make they just do average movies (not like in the 40s and
50s when a great % of what was done in holiwood was really
top quality)

I think people will just like whatever you throw at them,
cos notrmally people dont have the time or will to look for
themeselves what they want... they just dont give importance
to it

I am just like all those people but not with music... but
probably I am like that with other aspects of life

i went with about 4 people to see 'Eternal Sunshine of the
Spotless Mind'... I think i was the only one that really
liked it, all the girls that went with me hated it.

i think the majority of people are so used to dumb stories
and fast action thats all they seem to accept these days.
People even walked out half way through 'Lost in
Translation' because of the slow pacing.

Thats generalising a lot, but thats how I see the majority
of cinema goers. When the trailer was on for Big Fish people
at the back of the cinema were sarcastically shouting 'that
looks good'.

Actually no, I'm no fan of Hitchcock. So far I've found most
of his films very boring. Suspense taken to the point where
I completely lose interest.

It may be what they accept, but they enjoy it as well. It
doesn't explain someone like me though, I like Britney
Spears and Christina Aguilera, but I also like Autechre and
Zoviet France. My favourite movies include Notting Hill and
Armageddon, but they also include Hana-Bi and Three Colours:
Red. People just aren't that black and white.

Requiem for a dream

I finally got to see it last night. I thought the story was
a bit too forced near the end as if the writer desperately
needed to make things even worse than it already was. Also,
even though they acted great, some of the characters looked
a bit too polished for their role. On the other hand the
movie has great music and lots of spectacular visual effects
to more than make up for it.

9 out of 10

The Village... I downloaded it because I've heard so many
AWFUL things about it. I like to watch bad movies. But I
liked it... I knew the ''twist'' going in, so maybe I was
focusing on all the wrong things, in order to truly hate it.

Dumb movie, but I enjoyed it. I like Shyamamalalanan's
directing style, it should be unintentionally funny
sometimes, but I don't laugh.

I, Robot - 4/5

I saw it last Sunday evening. There were some
inconsistencies, such as robots initially being
indestructable but then getting wasted by Spooner's bullets.
The audience burst in laughter at some of Smith's
one-liners, but I only found them mildly amusing.

On the bright side, it potrayed a believable model of the
human race's potential, and presented plenty of delicious
eye candy to accompany it.

Alien - Directors Cut 9/10

It makes me depressed seeing how great sci-fi films can be
and looking at all the shitty special effects films we get
these days. I hope they don't ruin Rendevous with Ramma, if
it ever gets made.

this puts me at ease a bit:

Morgan Freeman has revealed that he is still actively
looking to develop Rendezvous With Rama as a movie."The
bugaboo there is the script. A picture like this, that is
written by Arthur C. Clarke, the problem is trying to get
someone to understand what it is. These things, they always
want to make it into an action film, so you've got to cowboy
it up a little bit. You can't
do it with this. And we've been having trouble getting
someone to see the science aspect of this, the exploratory
aspects of it, rather than the blood and guts and stuff.
It's not in limbo. We're pushing hard at it constantly"

Very bizarre dialogue in this Soderberg film, yet hilarious.

Elephant- gus van sant.

this is lush and spacious and seems to impart no agenda to
an horrific event. Aesthetically it is amazing. Beautifully
shot and with long trailing scenes, so much real time in
this movie it is agonizing, deliscious and jolting.

I liked it a lot at the cinema, the Lotr films seem to lose
a lot of impact on the small screen. I watched it on dvd the
other day and I noticed how much I can't the acting by
Elijah Wood (frodo) and the guy who plays Samwise. Still, i
think its the best out of the 3 films. I really liked
Miranda Otto (Eowny), definately an actress to look out for
in the future.
