AUTECHRE REMIX CONTEST

offline Phobiazero from the next Xltronic (Sweden) on 2003-04-01 02:22 [#00626723]

Good advices:

- Try to make the remix ORIGINAL and add your PERSONAL
touch/style to it.

- Do NOT HURRY with the contributions. There are still
plenty of time to enhance them further. Maybe you'll come up
with some good ideas two days before the deadline?

the entire xltronic community? or the people who actually
work/run the site.. mods etc

This remix is hurting my brain. It started off fine and
dandy. But now i'm just freaking myself out with some of the
noises I've got from the track.

offline Jarworski from The Grove (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-01 07:54 [#00627188]
Points: 10836 Status: Lurker

More than anything, I hope this is the start of a running
segment at Xltronic. It would be cool if it doesn't end with
Autechre... I think you keep in touch with them fairly often
Phob, so it's easier to get them in on it, but it would be
cool if we could get other artists with a fairly large back
catalogue to agree to this idea.

I'm complaining basically, cause I don't like Autechre! Roll
on the Plaid Xlt remix contest!

I too hope that it's the start of something that'll happen
often.
Remix comps for other big names. Not forgetting Kid Creole
and the Coconuts. They deserve an update as do Morris Day
and the Time.

maybe a stupid question, but I don't see any files to
download for the remix on this page
http://www.xltronic.com/............. am I missing
something? or am I to rip apart an Autectre track from a cd
to do the remix?

thanks

get the mp3 from a file sharing service, like soulseek or ..
I think audacity is one, or napster if that still exists..
then convert it to a wav with music match jukebox or
something. I think it's www.slsk.org

Ok thanks, it’s a strange way to do things every time
I’ve done a remix I’m always given a track
breakdown…. But I can make do..

lots of people are joining just for this, eh? kinda makes me
wonder why should i even bother to do this.. virtually no
chance of anything remotely good if there are pro people
joining to this

offline etched from charlotte (United States) on 2003-04-01 22:54 [#00628318]

well hey, i'm not even really rippin them apart as much as
rebuilding them...

offline etched from charlotte (United States) on 2003-04-01 22:56 [#00628319]

haha neeta, i was joinin anyway, then thought to meself
"what could be cooler than remixin autechre?"
of course, that was the thought that forgot all about aphex
twin and boards of canada

offline etched from charlotte (United States) on 2003-04-01 22:57 [#00628320]

besides, if i'm pro, then autechre and aphex and everyone
else on a label are nothing short of gods

hehe

well, we all start somewhere.

overall it was more fun than anything. remixing, that is.
remixes ive done for people are usually fun anyway,
regardless of what it includes.

FUN! FUN IS KEY!

FFFFUNNNN

offline etched from charlotte (United States) on 2003-04-01 23:03 [#00628327]

haha, same here
i just like makin music, and makin it electronic is...well,
saves the problem of throwing together a band with all kinds
of personality conflicts

offline etched from charlotte (United States) on 2003-04-01 23:04 [#00628329]
Points: 429 Status: Regular

oh yeah, remixin autechre songs was (and still is) more fun
than anything else
i just always listened to them and wondered how it could be
different...now's the chance to MAKE them different!

dunno if i should use past tense there...i'm still sittin on
my remixes, i KNOW i'll submit 'em and then find somethin
that went horribly wrong

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-04-01 23:07 [#00628333]

i agree. i admit i have been slightly paranoid that mine
wont be good enough, but i think if you enjoyed what you did
and got creative with it, thats what matters.

offline etched from charlotte (United States) on 2003-04-01 23:13 [#00628338]
Points: 429 Status: Regular

yeah, my fear isn't paranoia...i KNOW mine most likely
aren't good enough, but ya know what, i've put 20+ hours
into the 2 tracks so far, with plenty of free time to do
even more...i'm givin my all, mebbe it'll get voted, mebbe
it won't get voted, but it all comes down to this: the past
2 days have seen my production skills jump considerably

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-04-01 23:17 [#00628346]

i meant that more about neetta... i think she should just
relax and have fun. not worry about anyone else's mix.

please disapprove if I'm not right.

if you are bad losers - then DO NOT enter the contest. it's
silly, you are given the oppurtunity of making remixes and
having them judged by Autechre themselves and you are
whining about not being selected to the TOP 15 already...
grow up FFS!

all remixes WILL be available to download after the contest
has ended.

I'm with Phobia on this one--I mean, how many threads are
made just trying to get us dorks to listen to each other's
music? Lots! And 8-15 people are going to get Autechre to
hear their material--that's pretty damn fortunate! I say be
happy for the winners and if you don't make it, oh well!
