MP3 File sharing Dying!

well the stuff that I download i wud probably never have
even heard before if it wasnt for someone mentioning it to
me, and me downloading it.

My musical knowledge of smaller artists wud be almost none.
I know people who download whole albums and burn them, and i
frown upon that - u've got to remember that the artist mite
not have even had that "fan" if it wasnt for file sharing.
File Sharing must produce many more fans for an artist as it
allows ppl to freely listen to their music, but without file
sharing those potential fans wouldn't be there to start off
with!

totally - my little brother downloads, say, ONE album by
lagwagon, then he'll go out and BUY all of their albums!
this is just an excuse by record companies to hike their
prices up even more! just watch!

there's a difference in coming across directly and repeating
the same message time and again :)

quivvuulum - perhaps you missed the two dozen times people
have said that they buy MORE IDM since P2P came about? maybe
you only read what you want to?

Well they better watch out because monopoly capitalism takes
no prisoners. In a recession they'll be swallowed by the
majors.

BTW I don't smoke weed.

In fact I don't download music as I can't even afford a PC
at home. I spend a lot of money on music, money I can ill
afford. I've spent thousands and thousands on music in my
short life and all that money has gone into the pockets of
the corps and artists.

most people who put music on MP3.com do it out of love of
music. they are not professionals, and you can hear that in
the music, its amateur. Im not saying theres anything wrong
with that, its just a hobby. To make good music, there is no
short cut, it takes time and devotion, full-time not
part-time

If you accept the free market then if your music was any
good you'd be selling loads and making a fortune. As it is,
you're not so your music must suck. I feel sorry for you.
Take up another hobby. Ever tried stamp collecting? It might
be more conducive to your anal nature.

you know, when people want to hear my music, i feel happy -
i am very glad that i have musical talent and can make my
music.

stop going on about "professional" musicians, please - there
is no point there: music is music - people who don't get
paid for making music make music just as good as those who
do, however pitiful the amount is... there is no hierarchy
in music - only a pathetic human would impose such a
hierarchy and distinction

my music is magick and no-one paid me to make it!

and about wot u said about amateur music...

i used to think that music was so good because anyone cud
make it... or am i being old fashioned? Weren't ALL artists
"amateurs" until they were spotted by someone?

Why yesterday did you have your email address as
rdevine@warprecords.com?

and then when it's tested by the crew, it bounces....then
you get rid of it!

qu: you still fail to see the things from other point of
view than business: "these artists are professionals",
"their music is hard work, it takes 6 months of work to make
an album". Hey!!! It takes other musician about an hour of
improvising to prodice an album that lasts an hour. And it
often sounds fantastic and as far out as any "IDM" thing you
can come up with. You are still mixing marketi/ business
terms with aesthetical/ musical ones. This is my last post
for today. Over and out.

Theoretical salary? What the fuck is that? She sells a shit
load of CDs despite downloading, you however sell none. The
fact that she still sells loads also renders your argument
redundant. Unless you can retort without telling me to grow
up of course. Come on, you can do it.
