i dont think saying that ppl "need to grow up" is a very
strong arguement.

Maybe if u were a bit more specific we might understand.

Your arguement seems to be that professional artists deserve
to be paid to spend all their time on music, while unsigned
"amateur" artists carry on making music however and
whichever way they can. Is this correct?

theoretical salary = what an artist would earn if people
bought their music rather than stole it

Hmmm yes if artists/record labels expect me to start buying
more cd's THEY HAD BETTER LOWER THE FUCKING PRICES. I
listen to over a hundred different artists/dj's, and I can't
purchase all the cd's from each artist. . . I just don't
have the money, job or not.

BUT IF WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ELECTRONIC ARTISTS HERE. . . alot
of them don't even need record sales. They get all their
income from djing.

I burn dj mixes and actual albums by. .. say, DJ Tiesto, and
if I'm depriving him of money, so what? He doesn't need it,
he's one of the world's best dj's and that's primarily where
he gets rich from anyway.

Ahh, well her ACTUAL salary is based on people buying her
CDs and that looks pretty peachy fuckin creamy to me right
now.

we do respect artists....as we've said about 1000
times...but I guess you simply haven't read...

B3N: this guy so isn't R Devine...just some kid...(who's
music isn;t selling for a reason...if he does music at all
seeing as it won't let us listen to any....kinda odd that
eh, Q?)..

I didn't read this thread because it was too long..

But I for one buy far more music now because I learn about
bands on the internet. There's no way I would've heard of
half the bands I love if it wasn't for the internet.

hey jand: using a phrase from the novel generation x [which
was mediocre at best] is like sampling a snare, not really
infinging on copyright.

everyone:pablo picasso walks into a bar, puls out a pen adn
starts sketching on a napkin.
sets it down. some trollop reckognises him and comes over.
How much for that sketch?
$60000
What! It's just a sketch and it took you 5 minutes?
It took me 65 years.

true story.
good point.
an hour of improve music isn't created in an hour.
it is created over a lifetime.
think please.
