ok, i didnt read all the posts, cause there are too many,
but here is my view

quivvlm, you're a fundamentalist... and thats bad.

im a musician.... i am goin to a music college. it is
definatly my carrer.

i dont care if people download my stuff.

because i know if they like it, then they will buy it.

end of story

if they dont buy, then they really dont like it. so why
would i want them to buy it?

most likely, im gonna have to have various jobs, shit jobs
at that..

but as musicians, we accept this. its a running joke at my
school, how poor we will be.

if i want to make money, ill sell my music to an ad, or
something... but i am fully aware that IDM is not a money
maker... but i dont care, i love it. of course it would be
great to make my living off of my music... but thats very
idealistic... even people in pop genres usually cant do
that

dont blame your lack of sales on the net.

truely... it shows the lack of talent on your part. it
sounds harsh, but its true. sorry

any musician, even before mp3, only really made money from
gigs, and selling it to commericals etc.

and that whole 1 dollar thing... well, sometimes yes, but
not if you get well known and renegotiate your contract

so basicaly... the point is...

mp3s are good, cause they allow people to get access to an
underground music culture

stop saying how its ruining your carrer
you are making excusses to shift the blame from you to
something else

-Zeus

This is the worst thread ever, I don't even want to continue
reading it(I'm only about halfway into it), you people make
me too sick.

I agree with quivvuulum (even though he IS slightly
trolling, but you people wouldn't listen anyway, so what the
fuck?) and the other guy...

And skodt probably made the best post on this topic

You people wouldn't buy the cds anyway, so it's a worthless
cause.

I won't even begin to express my feelings on this issue.

lol...
choose your side everyone? ^^

no, really... some people are caricatural... :)

mp3s are a great way to discover artists, and don't say that
all people downloading mp3s are doing this in order to get
music for free without paying cds. i do buy a lot more of
cds since i use file sharing, and i'm far from being the
only one.

this said, some people are actually totally "stealing" music
and don't buy cds, only download mp3s. that's a fact. :)

but some people would make believe the music industry's in a
bankrupt... come on... (do capitalism prevent them from
thinking?) ;)

(just give one example of an artist which stopped
making music because of mp3s...)
