a: Webmaster, wipe this shit. This has nothing to do with
Aphex Twin.

b: Ireland should have won.

tell me about it, and i'm not even spanish or irish !!! No
more nails for me :)

what a game - i still can't get over the irish fighting
spirit, quite amazing!

Senegal has a conceivable chance of making the semi's - that
would be quite incredible - mind you Turkey or Japan would
be tough to beat (Japanese + Fanbase, and Turkey look
strong, and have potential to go far).

^reply to nacmat - can't do the follow up on my system :/

yo jedi - you seen the star wars game? I'm not much of a
gamer myself, but my flat mate is well into "the fallen
jedi" or something - looks pretty flash -> wonder if its the
actual story line post - original trilogy.

back to the soccer.

south korea/italy be interesting! south korea will be
encouraged by irelands effort, and with the huge crowd
support.

Still i hope italy wins for woofer's sake :) .. that'll make
up (at least in part) to the questionable disallowed goals
and such.

Spain - Italy : ...

I think england is not as good as brazil (man by man) BUT,
if there is one team now in the world cup that could beat
brazil..that is england...so go for it.
why?
well they can score goals in every corner, any free
kick...cos beckam is soooo good and then you have owen (the
killer boy) and on the other hand you are very good in
defense

to tell u the truth i don't care really
i favourised france, but they are out
i like italy-but i would really like to see them play more
offensive
for real
brazil is looking strong-so i think they have a pretty good
chance to win
tho england has a strong team also-so anything could happen
imo
what do u think?

if steven gerard would play u would have even more chance
and kieron dyer should play more

Brazil are looking good -

England Brazil would be a massive match to watch (almost as
massive as a possible Italy/Spain match up) - I think if
Sven manages to keep his players in line that England will
be very hard to beat - with their "shut up shop" defence -
and lethal dead ball skills.

First brazil must win against belgium, which i think they
will/can but will be tougher than anticipated -

offline nacmat on 2002-06-17 01:49 [#00269550]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

well I am sure belgium - brazil will be a tough match for
both sides... brazil would do wrong in thinking they have it
already done

I think its great !

But it pisses the world off that most of the USA don't even
know there is a world cup happening.

Come on USA, you have to believe ! support your team ! Beat
the Germans :D

US plays Germany on Friday

USA was such a great surprise for me...first they were in a
group where they werent believed to qualify (poland and
portugal are good teams of all history and korea were at
home) but they qualified...and now they beat mexico with a
clever match (2-0) when mexico was one of the teams that had
showed better football so far in the cup... USA is a good
team, they know what they can do and what they cannot, and
they always do it...in a world cup its very important to
play as you know thats something USA does (spain for example
didnt played their way yesterday and they almost pay for
it)
besides there are some very good players in that team....be
carefull germany if you think you ve got an easy match now,
cos when the other team thinks that USA is bad, then is when
they make the surprise

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-06-17 10:45 [#00270070]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

Man, USA - bit of a surprise - seemed (apart from the last
20 minutes or so) to be very much against the run of play.
But then, you have to take your chances - and America did
that - Mexico was a little dissapointing in their finishing.

Germany USA could be interesting.

But for now i'm looking forward to Belgium Brazil, its going
to be a cracker - The fifa site had some stats, apparently
of the 100 something tackles Belgium has made in this cup so
far 45% have resulted in fouls !!! :)

nacmat: yeah, hope so too - physical but not dirty.

i think spains 'win' yesterday actually did them some good
in a strange way - will make them more resilient or
something (like the saying, whatever doesn't kill you can
only be good for you), especially if they have to face italy
-

well, the only problem is that Raul maybe is injured and
cannot play next match...but apart from that its true that
suffering like yesterday and even we did a bad game we
passed, those things are good for the next matches...
sometimes is good to feel that luck is on your side

I really want brazil to win...why? well its a bit strange to
see the teams qualified to 1/4 finals:

germany, england, spain, senegal, usa... well its great to
see that there are new countries at this point...but I miss
argentina, france, netherlands... its ok if they didnt make
it to get here, but now i need to see here brazil and Italy
to join germany and england so i feel that all the best are
there...
imagine:
gemany
usa,
senegal,
spain,
england
korea,
japan
belgium

it would be great, I am sure...but wouldn we miss some of
the historic teams there?
do you think those are the best 8 teams in the world?
