Sweden today. The Dutch are favorites, but I wouldn't count
good ol' Sverige out yet.

Haha, I just watched an interview on Swedish TV4. Some
former Dutch player said Holland is going to win. So, when
the reporter asks why, the subtitling fucks up and says
"för fortsatta kärnvapenprov"!! <--trans. "for continued
nuclear tests"! Then the subtitles disappeared completely.

Heh, was pretty hilarious.

what a boring game so far..

sad enough Sweden plays very offensive and needed a lot of
fouls in the first 10 minutes which slowed down the game a
lot

I am afraid they are gonna win with a counter, although they
do not deserve to win imo

I know what you mean and indeed offensive playing football
is weak and no fun to watch either

Indeed, this match is a complete tedium. What a letdown so
far. They might as well skip straight to the penalties
because they're playing far too cautious. And what the hell
is Robben doing on the right? This game needs a few
injections. Couldn't care less about it otherwise, I might
even turn off the telly.

Pfft! I say. PFFFFTTT!!!

Gah! Sweden's been so close..and so has the Dutch.

Oh penalties. Well congratulations then Sweden for reaching
the semis.
Another utterly disappointing quarter-final that doesn't do
the exciting group-phase justice. So far, only
Portugal-England was a worthy game. Let's hope the Czech's
can inject some excitement into their match tomorrow. My
hope is on them.

sides were very poor tbh. I'm surprised Holland pulled
through though.

no i don't think so. i think he even wants to serve out his
contract, but i think ajax will be very willing to sell him,
since he hasn't scored that many goals (for a striker) - 48
in 3 years...

cocu was the only one i had doubts about taking a penalty :)

Im really happy for Holland... I was hoping that they would
make it as the two teams that i support are "Greece and
Holland".
Ibrahimovich going to the penalty spot with a grin on his
face... Well, he's pretty happy now i bet... ha ha.

amazing about Greece.... Who would have thaught that they
would have made it that far... And by beating the European
champions.... WAOW.... Really Impressive... So was the
after-party in Athens btw

yeah penalties are a lottery, they doesnt show in any way
what team was better... though in this case I think holland
tried harder during the match to win... but then in the
extra time sweden had good chances too

I know how it feels to go back home due to the penalty
kicks

sorry phobia... and really, sweden scored some of the most
beautiful goals in this championship

no... it was a very tight game... both teams
could/should have scored with all those chances.

imo it was, Holland played much better
towards the end of the game Sweden played better and better
but not enough to win the match (my view might be unfair
because I am Dutch)

lets ask our football expert ;)

all newspapers in spain agree that sweden didnt search for
the goal as much a sholland did.... but really if it was
0-0 I dont think one was much better than the other...

anyway, football is a game, and luck is involved... if
everytime the best team won, then this sport wouldnt be so
exciting... its the fact that you can never be 100% of the
final result what keeps this sport on top

in 1992 denmark was not going to play the eurocup, but due
to the yugoslavia problem (war) they finally played the
tournament, with no preparation, with strong teams as rivals
such as germany, netherlands... but finally they won...
"football is football"

shrug, I thought it was an exciting game... obviously it's
more fun when the teams score, but they had chances, so it
was exciting... and I'm happy, cause I've been cheering for
Holland!

and about penalty kicks, yes I agree it sucks... but it's
fair to everyone... that's the way it is... it just so
happened that Holland were the lucky ones last night, next
time it might be sweden... just the way it goes I guess!

I still think it should be sudden death, where the first
team to score wins... that's the way they do it in Hockey I
believe, in the stanley cup playoffs and stuff (not a real
hockey fan, so I'm not sure... ask Ophecks), but I guess
there are more goals scored in hockey then soccer, so sudden
death in soccer might take forever!

Actually, I thought this was one of their more poor matches
and the score doesn't really reflect the game, but that's
what you get with such a deadly striking front. Also, I
sincerely hope Greece gets knocked out of the tourney
courtesy of the Czech Republic as they've gone far enough
with their pisspoor football.

At least it was a better game then the timid quarterfinal of
Holland-Sweden. Sweden's dynamic duo Larsson and Ibrahimovic
couldn't really swing and Holland played too far back, too
angsty, which saw van Nistelrooy isolated most of the time.
Robben hardly got used, which was disappointing to say the
least. Plus I didn't get their "tactical" move of switching
wingers, and moreso, Overmars would have been far more
dangerous if he had started on the right wing instead of the
mediocre van der Meyde who clearly moved away from AFC Ajax
too soon. All this caused the game to be more balanced than
it normally should have been. Sweden had some unlucky
moments hitting the bar, the post as well as the Dutch who
had their chances but did too little to really test the
Swedish defence, so neither could rightly lay claim to the
coveted semi-final spot.
Holland-Portugal sounds more promising tbh.

stop complaining and go for the czechs or the dutch ;d

i wonder what the czechs will do against greece. the danes
hardly gave a good defence and had to rely completely on
their offensive football (i only saw the second half), which
created the space for the czechs to score. the greeks on the
other hand will burry themselves in their own penalty area
leaving little space to score. all the greeks need is one
lucky counter and they're in the final
