simultaneously? here we have one and then the other...

i have to say Portugal deserved to win the match, they
played the much better football, England are really getting
boring, they think they can defend constantly and not play
football. They came unstuck against France and again
tonight.

Fun fact: the splitsecond before Beckham hit the ball it
rolled a notch to the right. Looks odd, almost like
someone's moved it by remote.
England started bright but in the end they got swamped by
the passionate Portugese. I Couldn't have picked a winner
from this one tbh, the match was pretty intense but in the
end the grapes are always sour when you go out on
penalties.
It's the suckiest way to go out imo.

if it was just golden goal, it would have been just fine...
although it was pretty cool to see lampard even it up...

haha yeah
on second thought
france - greece 2-2 in normal time, and after that...i
dunno. seeing what happened last night, the team which
is able to adapt to the state of the
penalty dot will win. ;d

it's amazing they managed to be 2nd in their qualification
group, regarding how much they suck...croatia then won in
the additional (?)qualifications by only one goal, which was
also a surprise :)

why not just have sudden death overtime? The first team to
score wins... seems more fair to me then stupid penalty
kicks...

you mean golden like eternal goal rule, right? 1st thing is
coz the players would be to tired to run around and 2nd
because of tv and their precious time.

i prefer the golden shower rule where if england lose on
penalies all the fans get to piss on the people who missed

Sorry Tolstoyed, but it's now a fact that your impeccable
football insight has totally let you down this tournament.
France finally ran out of luck after their incredibly shabby
run in this tournament. This was probably one of the worst
quarterfinals ever, especially coming from the French side
with all their megastars.
Kind of boring to see Greece in the semi's though, it kinda
kills the grandness of such a stage in the tournament
because I can't say the Greeks have been playing spectacular
football thusfar, which says alot about poor France.

I told you that you don´t know nothing about football :)

I only watched the last 30 minutes of this game and Greece
played much better, France didn´t deserve to win imo

anyway if a team like greece is one of the best 4 teams in
europe... thats not good news for this sport

cos greece plays an awfull football, they just wait for the
other team to make a mistake... meanwhile they just run and
keep a solid wall

aww come on now people... this tournament has been awesome
so far... all the big teams that have been eliminated (with
the exception of England) were playing shitty football, and
deserved to be knocked out on their asses... it's nice to
see some of these smaller nations get all whooped up about
winning... this tournament will force the larger nations to
adapt, and everyone will win in the long run...

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2004-06-25 23:33 [#01256675]

oh yeah, and i'd just like to say good fucking riddance to
Trappatoni... Marcello, you were the man who i hoped would
take over... and i wish you the best of luck with this squad
in shambles...

it´s the other way around, this is good for football
the big teams play bad and need to wake up,
most "big" players are spoiled imo, let them work again to
win something, and a team should not rely on 1 player but on
all

offline nacmat on 2004-06-26 01:51 [#01256702]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to Aesthetics: #01256681

now that I think of it .... yea its true this is good for
football

but dont get me wrong... its good that france, italy,
germany or spain go home soon cos they play shit football,
but in the case of greece they are in semifinals with an
arcaic method based in destroying football... its not like
denmark or or for example korea in their worldcup in which
they played fast creative football

I am all for small teams winning the big teams, cos thats
the best part of this game... its far from being
mathematical... but I prefer when does teams win thanks to a
valerous game proposal

they and denmark have played great so far

netherlands had its moments too... and also sweden were fun
to watch... not that they play like brazil, but their
matches are always with lots of goals and emotion... and
they play fast too
