what do you mean? they always play like that...totti was
disappointing though...

i just saw that zidane free kick again...no wonder he's been
selected for best world player :)

Italy is like 8 defenders and 3 attackers that rely on the
counterattack, and Denmark knows how to deal with it

Denmark played attacking football which is much more fun to
watch

that's what italy is famous for...unfortunately. it's silly
coz they have couple of best deffenders imo (cannavaro and
nesta)...ahh, they should get rid of trapatoni, although
they would probably still play in the same formation...

I know, but I like to point that out because I hate it when
teams play like that,
and hopefully the winner of this eurocup will be a team that
plays (forward) attacking football

i was kidding. seems like you have hard time accepting
english team lose against french, that's all...and yes,
maybe i am a bit too excited about french. but saying they
play the most beautiful/best football is totally in place :)

common,
that was not the reason why they won the match yesterday, to
me it was a team that depended on one player ;)

you know, it's hard to score, when there are 11 players
standing in line infront of the goal :) and everyone plays
that way against france, coz they're all scared!!

haha
I think I watched another game, they played a little bit
more offensive after the first goal (which is natural) but
not with 11 players!

I didnt know that ultra supporter side of your personality

I am spanish, I cont care who won between frenchs and
english... well maybe I even prefer france to win so they
are first, that way if we are first we wont see them in 1/4
finals

but still it was obvious that they were lucky cos they
played bad during 90 minutes

england had some chances to even do the 2-0

I saw the match and I didnt see england being too defensive,
of course they were conservative in some way, but not at all
waited for the french to come to their area

Oh not at all m8,I didn't support a specific side for this
match. I thought the conclusion of the match was fantastic,
a real thriller and the Zidane free kick was brilliant.
I can understand how shellshocked 'n sour the England fans
must be though, but it was England's own fault anyway.

here's match statistics...it's pretty obvious who the better
side was...

(see passes and completed passes...shots on target...)

indeed, I think actually england is a weak team... the worst
of the usual top teams (italy, germany, france, netherlands,
england, portugal, spain)

entertaining and fair game

poor Bulgaria

yeah , they got a lesson in efficiency cos Bulgaria
certainly didn't play as bad as the final score makes it
sound but they just hopelessly wasted all the chances the
created. Top quality strikers in the Swedish Squad, they
looked like serious contenders tonight.

my connection has been down for the last few days, so here
are some thoughts:

-HAHA ENGLAND!

-well that italy game was pretty terrible... i don't know
what's wrong with those guys, but i'm willing to blame it
all on trappatoni, because he's been the problem in the
past... honestly at some points in that game i don't know
what the hell they were defending... the number of awesome
chances that dennmark got just because the italians just
kept collapsing, and collapsing and collapsing... you do
actually have to challenge the play EVENTUALLY!
bleh... i hope they can pull themselves together for next
game...

offline Phobiazero from the next Xltronic (Sweden) on 2004-06-15 02:04 [#01240612]
Points: 10507 Status: Webmaster | Show recordbag

but that is always how italian use to act in the beginning
of each tournament... lame and quite ignorant... and they
play some draw matches and always tend to win with some
small margins and suddenly they're among the top four
teams... right, woofer?

it's a surprise to see italy playing with strikers at all...

Exactly. Trappatoni is famous for his defensive game, anyway
yesterday we played with 3 strikers (Vieri, DelPiero,
Totti), while in World Cup 2002 just 2 strikers (Vieri,
Totti or DelPiero), so in this cup we're a step forward.

In the story of Italy we always won, with good defensive
game, with perfects tactics and then sudden
counter-attacks.

Italians characteristics are these, and it will be hard to
change that.

Italy has best defense of this European imo, with Buffon,
Cannavaro, Nesta and Ferrari, a bad midfield, and a good
attack but yesterday midfield didn't work well, so the
strikers received few ballons to play.

Anyway for next World Cup I will change Trappatone for sure,
he's too much defensivist for my tastes.
But remember, also with another coach Italy would alwaus
play a tactical football with strong defense and sudden
counter attacks.

"taly has best defense of this European imo, with Buffon,
Cannavaro, Nesta and Ferrari"

i totally agree! that is also why it's silly they play so
deffensive...i mean surely those 3 could do good work on
their own. but as you say...italy just plays that way :(

oh i'm totally in love with their defense... but even their
defense (in particular guys like panucci<--why is he a
regular starter?!) was allowing far too many chances...
italy was VERY lucky not to concede a goal...

-this czech game is pretty awesome so far... Nedved is so
amazing to watch sometimes...
