I can't wait for elusive to listen to it and start going
FD07 PIKE and shit. Those are the only reasonable comments
about ae.

I don't think Autechre have ever been the masters of
concept albums or longer forms in general. I'm aware that I
might be the only one to think so, but I AM RIGHT!!!

I'd have you say you're wrong there. It's so blatently
apparent that their preview albums have had consistent
themes and sound designs. Nothing on chiastic would fit on
amber, etc.

I don't have plastic, so I stole the album.
I'll buy the CD in March.
But I'll have to steal the 11 bonus tracks.

My friends review:

"i dont get how people were so positive about it. there
were
moments of such minimal whateverness.

like listen to steels. it sounds like a 20% complete song.
its dead. some bass in the background that doesnt do
anything. to me this one was one of the worst albums theyve
ever made i swear. that song sounds like it was shat out in
5 minutes.

Outh9X sounded like it could have become epic when that
lush
air started coming from the background, but then the song
just went nowhere. there was like 3 minutes of nothing in
there.

WNSN was a bit catchy and more serious, but didnt do
anything special.

Notwo was just ambience but it sounded good.

chenc9 was like a mediocre tuss song.

bnc castl was catchy and could be good for like some
retarded skit, but it was still something that could shit
out in 2 minutes

Thewere was pretty good because it actually had some high
fidelity sounds and a catchy melody.

fwzE was more of that tweedly toodly woodly kiddy mood shit
which i dont like

rale was okay, but still kind of boring.

Tankekern had a cool atmosphere and was pretty good but it
was still too minimal. could have done more with it.

Steels was poop.

SonDEremawe was just whatever, short repetitive nothing.

plyPhon started sounding like it was gonna be awesome but
then just got all disjointed and whatever and didnt
progress.

IO started out like annoying discordant shit but the beats
for the last minute were good lol

i honestly think this album sounded way deader and more
minimal boring and disjointed than untilted

and i honestly cant comprehend these peoples positive
feedback. its like they must hear a completely different
song than i do, i dont even feel like im being super
critical"

The 13th bonus track is known as "the ace of beards" in
magical societies and will only be heard when Tiamat arises
to throttle the earth in her coils.

Can't wait for the bitching about the bonus cd.
Hopefully bnc castle and dreamweaver are 10 minutes long.
And the long chenc9 has the 1st two chords of the elusive,
much sought after melody from the live Glasgow set, then the
track abruptly launches into 10 minutes of steels.

That is a better track in humble bumble opinion, because
it's got more of a COR BLIMEY thing going on. It makes you
go, Yeah! whereas this one makes you go Hmmm, okay.

personally im glad they aren't hung up on engineering a
certain sound this time - its more accessible, fun and
straight up, and still sounds immense. everyones always had
the same tools - its what you do with it that matters isnt
it?

An observation: many of these songs sound "wet." Yes, wet
effects wise, but also mentally I'm picturing gigantic
machines- dripping with water and slime- sputtering out of
control. WNSN is particularly evocative of this, also
paralel Suns, Simmm, Theswere, and Perlence.

A contrast to the dry-as-bones Untilted.

Fo13- an epic battle between two multi limbed machines
taking place at the base of a subterranean waterfall. A
third and seperate machine slowly turns a knob that stops
the flow of water.
