Hah, Mortal Kombat? You really are a pimply faced
adolescent teen aren't you?
I don't want any trouble really.
So I think the best thing would be for you to go home, and
suck on your mothers flabby teet.

aww, that really didn't require a dictionary at all, did it?
is that the best you can do, you tiny quivering streak of
your father's snotty piss-spunk swinging from your sisters
bleeding mouth.

Actually I'd like to keep my insults based on reality, which
in reference to a sod like yourself doesn't require the use
of refined diction to get the point accross. This would be
as opposed to your attempted method of riling me up with
that obtuse, puerile, premature ejaculation of a post.

Dude that story made me laugh so much. I could just imagine
the incredible awkwardness and the extreme overreaction by
Tom. I would have rather had an experience like that
compared to a normal one. I mean dude, you nearly got into a
fight with squarepusher, that's fucking awsome! Now we all
know not to talk to squarepusher 'cos he'll 'ave ya.

When I met pusher he was kinda rude too. I saw him on his
own (understandably cos he's not very nice in person) after
the sinfonietta show. Came up to him, shook hands, told him
it was a great show, he said thanks then he walked off. He
obviously doesn't value the people who make him what he is.
I shouted to him I was his biggest fan (not anymore) and he
turned around and did a kind of sarcastic smirk/smile.

Enough of the bitching, he makes great music.

"I said, "Oh hey, do you mind if I take a quick picture
please?" - holding out the camera.

He said, "no".
Ok, so you're thinking like me, right? like 'no I don't
mind'."

I'm not thinking like you. I would think he meant "no, I
don't want you to take my picture" and would leave it at
that. You were just as rude as each other, except I'd say he
was justified in being rude to you because you went against
his answer.

I'm thinking about this purely in the normal "if this was
just two random guys" kind of way rather than the "is
Squarepusher a dick?" kind of way.

"do you mind..?"

possible answers:

"no.. (I do not mind)"
"yes.. (I do mind)"

logically, you'd think he wouldn't mind.

maybe.

he could just say "please leave me alone".

push him? no.

That can be perceieved as two different answers. In normal
english when you ask "if someone minds" and they answer with
"no" then that translates as "no i dont mind". If there is a
misunderstanding and/or altercation due to the fact that the
person answering perceived the question incorrectly than
that is the fault of the answerer.

by the way

I was a little nervous approaching a 'celebrity', I guess if
it was just a normal guy I was trying to take a picture of
and he said no, then I would get probably get clarification
before I tried to take the picture, since this person is a
stranger.

Listening to someone's music for years gives you a false
sense of knowing someone on a personal level, when in
reality you know little to nothing about them in this
capacity. The musician, on the other hand, knows nothing
about you on any level. To them, we are strangers and they
have to make up their mind about us in an instant. I made a
bad first impression, but only because of a
misunderstanding.

"logically, you'd think he wouldn't mind."

i see what you mean, logically you're of course correct
(though that's rarely how a question like that is asked or
answered, it tends to translate to "can i...?")

but then walking away calling him an asshole? hmmm...

if you think about it, it's kind of funny, pomme didn't
notice pusher's gesture when saying no...or maybe tom is
just that cold...ah well...i still love his music, and will
continue to buy it :)

Too bad this thread wasnt a positive experience. It bums me
out that a nice guy like J got into this bizarre situation.
It is understandable from many angles but too bad this wasnt
about how J took tom out for a couple of beers after the
show and made wise cracks about *kid606
