Ikaruga is the best gamecube game i've played. Is the new
Silent Hill game out yet?

i have Ikaruga, it's great : )
my favourite GC game remains Metroid Prime though.

Silent Hill 4 is out on september 29th in europe i think

i have an iMac 700 Combo, i think it can play DVDs... i
installed OS X 10.3 two days ago through an installation DVD
i think

i'm hesitating whether i should buy or not Burnout 3,
everyone says it's great but i'll ask my brother if he knows
of someone who has it already so i can test it (just because
everyone thinks it's great doesn't mean i will like it,
everyone loved Splinter Cell but i found it way too hard for
me, i gave up without even finishing the 1st mission in its
entirety -_-)

i have for GC:

Zelda Wind Waker (+ Ocarina Of Time/Master Quest)
Resident Evil 0
SSX3
F-Zero GX
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Soul Calibur II
Puyo Pop Fever
Ikaruga
Metroid Prime
...

i might be forgetting some

"i have an iMac 700 Combo, i think it can play DVDs... i

yeah, that will be able to play dvd's. I only asked because
the new Myst game comes on 4 dvd's, a 700MHz imac should be
able to run the new Myst game fine if you wanted to get it.

Excellent thread.

I am pathetically addicted to Final Fantasy XI. The
ability to have a sub-class adds to much to the strategy,
and you won't find a deeper combat system in any other
MMORPG. The Chains of Promathia expansion comes out
in 3 days and it adds Bahamut as a summon. Here's the trailer (.asx)

Whenever the servers are down in the previous game, or if
I'm feeling twitchy, I load up Street Fighter: The Anniversary Collection. I has all the
original Street Fighter 2 incarnations condensed into
one game. You can select how old the music system is, how
old the sound effects are, etc. But the real prize in this
game is the inclusion of Street Fighter 3: Third
Strike
. I love just playing through arcade mode and
working on my technique so that I can incur mass
devastation! Noone can step on my Chun-Li game.

On the horizon? You know I'm getting this...

That's an underappreciated game. It's not half as good as
the first Deus Ex, but it's not half as bad as a lot of Deus
Ex fans have convinced themselves it is. The headshots
problem really irks me, and the environments are so
undersized, but other than that, I loved it.

I'm still playing Silent Hill 4- The Room. Getting better
and better as the story gets more coherent and clear. And
getting harder and harder as things get more... haunted.

I'll have to pick up the Street Fighter Collection when it
drops in price a little... can you play online?

I guess on Monday, I'll have Silent Hill conquered, and I'll
be picking up... Fable.

it seemed glorious for the longest time, i kept up to date
with all the journal entries on the site. but all the
drawbacks they made in the end made it a lousy game, it isnt
even all that explorable! half of it is linear set walking
paths.. shame really.

i've been playing the pc port of hundred swords, and made it
to the final battle which is so IMPOSSIBLE that i want to
stab myself in the neck. so, to keep away from the
frustration, i'm back to dreamcast for a bit.

this week i have street fighter 3: third strike, jet grind
radio, bangai-o, and napple tale to play through. next week
will be whichever i didn't beat along with rez and ikaruga.
(god bless bittorrent.)

ah, maybe not then. i've been out of the gaming loop for
like a year now, and last time i read about fable it looked
like it had the potential to be one of the best games ever.
sounds like a fantasy version of shenmue from your
description, which would be a major letdown indeed. ah well,
i'll go back to my ignorance then and hope games get good
someday.

just imagine the future of gaming, virtual reality isnt that
far away, and once technology reaches a capacity to include
the information of quantum physics and enough memory
processing, virtual terrain will emerge. also, same goes for
the human genome, that can be converted to information and
included at the quantum level. i gurantee that before we
kick the bucket we will be talking to sentient AI life forms
about the same deep questions that mankind faces in a
virtual reality.

i just want decent gameplay. immersive experience is
interesting as an idea, but game companies have products to
sell, and they seem to be more concerned with making their
games resemble movies than actual games anymore. i noticed
that almost all games currently out are sequels, rehashes,
or tie ins. i want some original, solid games to come out.

I picked up Street Fighter Anniversary Collection today...
it looks so awesome the big screen, an explosion of color.
And the multiple soundtracks all rock. But I can't pull off
the moves! I got it for PS2, and I'm having trouble busting
out a fireball or a Dragon Punch when I need to. The D-pad
is awkward, and the stick is slippery. Hopefully I'll get
used to it... I'm a really good Street Fighter, but I'm
getting my ass handed to me on the harder difficulties
because I'm just not flowing.

On the packaging, it says it comes with the ''full length
animated Street Fighter 2 movie'', but, uh... I can't find
it anywhere. Is it buried in some options screen or
something? I only got the one disc... that's a good movie,
the fights are wild.

Also bought the Xbox version of Metal Slug 3, haven't played
it yet though. I sure hope there's an infinite lives code,
because I always get shellshocked when I play Metal Slug.

Silent Hill 4, which i received yesterday... so far i
finished the water prison level.

Eileen seems cool! i hope i'll be able to save her
(otherwise i'll just restart) : )

it's scary/unsettling in different ways than the previous
Silent Hill episodes, but just as much: i've been scared of
opening a door because i knew (and that's different
from the previous Silent Hill episodes, but just as
effective actually) what i would find behind the door...
just not exactly how....

so far the low point would be the "riddles", you're FAR too
guided it's almost insulting (i cringe when i read things
like "the opposite of north-east is southwest", or 'i'm so
thirty! chocolate!".... -_-) - and the french
translation is still as poor as for the previous episodes
(so i play in english), but the ambiance is there, so i'm
satisfied. i played until 2 or 3 am last night and had
difficulty stopping.

Found it, but unfortunately it's the edited version, little
sex or blood (sex and blood are the bee's knees), and the
compression/quality is horrid... understandable, you can
only fit so much on one disc! Nice bonus for those that
haven't seen it though.

Man, I love this Anniversary Collection, can't stop playing
it. I multiple soundtracks are great, I'm so glad the CPS1
lo-fi early '90s tracks are there. Bassy and driving and
grimy.

I'm also playing Sly Cooper 2- Band of Thieves. PS2 is the
best system in history, platformer wise. This game is
brilliant.

Uzim- Eileen is kinda tough to save. I don't want to spoil
it for you if you don't already know, but... even if you let
her get her ass totally kicked by tons of enemies, it's
cool. She can't die. But...

And yeah, the riddles and puzzles are way too easy. There's
a NIGHTMARE item fetch quest later in this game... have fun.
:_-(. Hopefully you won't overlook the same stupid little
detail that I did.

Overall, I loved the game, and I loved the ''room''. I just
hated going back there so much, loathed the limited carrying
space for items. Lowered the fun factor for this game a
slight nudge and added nothing in the way of strategy or
challenge. But... I guess they had to find SOME way to
inspire you to keep going back to that room! The events
there made it bearable, I thought it was really interesting.
I caught Eileen in some sexy positions via the peephole.

it's not very good, the animation of the main character
