these arent the right format really so i had to do some
resizing

assuming well work with the engine im using atm, ill post
sprite and img properties tonight, along with a site where
you can dl the program so well actually get something done

will also post a short demo where you can see how its gonna
look

ok.. im uploading the game now to my ftp.. but those cunts
keep cutting me off when im at 50% or so. the file size is
about 13 mb but with my crappy connection its likely to take
another fucking hour

this is driving me nuts

stay tuned kids, for another exiting episode of RDJ-RPG!!!

The story i came up with is really lame :D

rjd is happily mixing blender noises with porn beats, when
all of a sudden his brains shortcircuit and he goed into
some sort of coma.

well or not the game doesnt say that, its up to you

it starts with rdj thinking he took too much drugs, and his
dad (who turned into an undead) tells him he has to save the
world from some things (his own creations that are trying to
destroy the universe)

ah well

just download it :)

that's actually a very nice demo, JAroen. definitely the
roughest of tests, but presents a good idea of what to
expect.

ok i see, so you're basically making it on rpgmaker2000,
just programming around it to modify certain things, like
battle system, animation, etc..... how do you guys do
that? i know basic logic of programming but no idea how
to do that stuff......

I heard someone earlier said for it to have an "Earthbound"
feel with the parody-like dialogue and such.....that would
be superb, i love that game.

I'd like to help out as much as I can with storyline
concepts, plots, events, dialogue and such.....even spells,
items, weapons....I'm good at thinking up all that
stuff....I've been doing it in my free time for years
now.....

i feel that the game should have 3 stories (one for each
main char that you can select, which intertwine into each
other's story). And the title should be changed. I feel that
it shouldn't reside wholly around RDJ; thus "rdj rpg" is in
approiate, but suffices for a project "code-name" at the
current moment.

also, MINI_GAMES GALORE!

can we integrate a "tetrenet" like mini game? what about a
"astroblaster" game?

I was also thinking about celebrity cameos; ie RDJ could go
on a mini quest for his "LuSh" STOLEN!!!!!! 303! and who has
it?! PRODIGY!

heh, just some ideas i'm throwing out whilst on my lunch
break...will schedule and corrdinate a meeting for all
interested lvl designers/plotters around 1730 tokyo time.

Is there a way we can sync up a p2p client? slsk, aim, yim?
I personally enjoy showing the mb what we've been up to for
the moment; but feel we need to talk in real time, trade
files, and get on the same page if this is to be seriously
launched.

I'll take responsability as POC (military term for "point
of contact"), on this. It's imperative that everyone who's
interested in helping out, even in the slightest, e-mail me
with a description of what you'd like to contribute to the
project, contact times/info (please list a p2p client). In
under 24 hrs, i'll schedule a chat for all those who
notified me, and we can get this journey off on the right

Cool! I'm actually writing an RPG at the moment for my MSc.
Unfortunately the MSc focuses on the render engine and
scripting systems so I won't be able to get round to
enabling it to actually DO anything worthwhile for a while.

some things i feel the need to adress:

the game HAS to revolve around rdj. i mean, think about it.
you can create enemies out of u-ziq song titles. even if you
could, it would be a stretch. plus, in my opinion...
paradinas wouldn't even be one of my first choices for a
game anyway. but no one else seems to have the essential
cartoon-like qualities in their music necessary to make a
solid video game from. this is why i suggested an
"Earthbound" vibe. because of the cartoonish tongue-in-cheek
satire which is present in both that game and rdj's music.

we have to try really hard NOT to get overly lofty with
these ideas, or else it'll end up only getting half done. i
say focus on a main storyline revolving around rdj, and if
it gets finished and we want to add things, then cool.

also, i think we should stick as much to fantasy as
possible. i'm sorry, but the idea of prodigy stealing his
drum machine... not the best concept. to be honest, not even
a good one.

i'm gonna do a follow up post to this detailing what i've
had in mind doing the sprites, and you all can tell me if
you like the idea or not.

ok, my idea goes something like this:

some crazy crap happens an rdj goes on a quest. along the
way, he encounters mike p and tom (seperately), and they
join his party. both mike and tom have their own weapons and
spells (based on song titles or etc relevant to them, IE:
"bass kick", "go spastic", "square rave"). as they join rdj
on his quest to do something we haven't determined yet
(probably involving this "daddy" character), they encounter
living manifestations of rdj's work over the years (maybe
they're in his mind? dream? etc) whom they must fight to get
to their end destination. they find elements and items such
as calx (yellow, blue & green... HP, MP & EP?), phloam,
audax powder, chocolate coins, alberto balsam & ventolin.
rdj's attacks include a wide range of weapons (astroblaster,
ziggomatic, bucephalis bouncing ball & pulsewidth) and
spells (heliosphan, polygon window, etc), which he uses as
he travels over many locations (mt. saint michel, portreath
harbour, redruth school, pigeon st., the garden of linmiri,
schottkey 7th path & ageispolis) to do whatever it is he's
doing.

that's the general idea i've had going in my head.

making the test game

rdj gets fucked, goes on a quest, battles his own tracks and
inventions with his friends mike p and tommy j and
ultimately fights some goon

wouldnt it be cool if we made seperate classes? eg sqp being
the tough beserk guy (gimli) rdj being the all round
swordsman (aragorn) and mike p being the
natureguyweirdcontraptionsorcerer (...?)

sounds fine to me. if we try to come up with complicated
shit the game will suck, cuz we aint good designers and
all.. those cliches are pretty good for this, and if we add
some funny dialogues and weaponry we can transform the

ok, JAroen sent me the sprite sizes for the rpgmaker he's
using. what i want to be completely clear on, is that THIS
formt of character sizes, etc. is DEFINITELY the one we're
using. i have no problem converting the sprites to these
sizes, but i don't want to do it, and then have to change em
again. so basically what i'm saying is... oddio or whoever
is in charge needs to validate this before i proceed any
further.

before, i have about 30 unfinished projects in both programs
that i abandoned. so feel free to contact me if you have
any technical questions of want to re-use funny dialogue we
have.

stuff like
char 1: "your sword techniques suck. how do you expect to
kill someone doing so little damage?"
char 2: "oh like your white magic is any better. what are
you gonna do, CURE them to death?"

i decided, im just making the sprites, and people can alter
them, etc however they need to... i tried dl'ing that
rpgmaker thing and i couldnt even get my png's imported.
guh.

im not programming crap. im doing sprite design, thats what

need experienced rpgmaker2k3 operators.

Tibbar, i'm assuming that the sprite sizes/format that's
coherent with rpgmaker2k3 is what we're going with. I'll
confirm in about 5 hrs or so (when i finish my work shift).
I'll try to figure out, or find someone who can, how to
import your current work. Keep in there, bro. Your sprites
are pretty bad ass, so we don't want your talent to go to
