"The Fragile" seemed like a major over the top
production, this sounds more raw or something

you've got to be kidding me. the reason the fragile is so
over-the-top produced is because of the ridiculous amounts
of layers of sounds and instruments and grandiose
arrangements. the reason it's so great is because it was so
ridiculously over-produced. this sounds AS over-produced
proportionately for something that could be done on a
4-track. in fact, a 4-track recording would have made this
sound 1111000% better.

yeah, that's what i'm saying, exactly. don't get me wrong.
i like the layering and super production of The Fragile.

what i mean is hmmm.... something like,

'With Teeth' is to 'The Fragile' what Reservoir Dogs is to
Pulp Fiction.

get me?

NIN!

i didn't like that much the production/mixing/sound of The
Fragile, i don't remember what exactly how but i always felt
the sound could have been better...

it's not bad, but it would have looked a lot better if there
wasn't the stupid "parental advisory explicit lyrics" logo
on it.

so stupid - if they want to put it as a sticker on the
plastic wrap, fine, but why include it in the front
cover??

I didn't really like the fragile. I guess angsty teen music
should stay with angsty teens.

Pretty hate machine Broken and the downward spiral are still
the best ones. These new ones suck.

ho hum...i still don't care for this release. i've listened
to it for awhile now and there are still only 2 tracks i
dig. so i think i'll pass on buying it on any format. i
like reading the reviews...they're funny as hell

maybe some people don't like it because they grew up since
the previous releases and can't take the teenage-blog-like
lyrics anymore... i dunno.

the lyrics aren't teenage'ish' at all. they're just really
bad.
the music is too 'pop' sounding. i can see why trent never
worked with richard devine. i'm sure he had great ideas for
the sounds and everything, but trent wanted a radio/bullshit
friendly album to attract all they young kiddies...i still
dig nin's early stuff. still was fantastic. i just don't
understand how you go from making hybrid drum & bass style
rock music to this utter shit. if the perfect drug was any
indication of what was to come, i was totally psyched for
new nin material..but its just ended up really sucking dick.
and i should have known when he did that shitty track 'deep'
what a piece of schitty shit

some people take things too seriously. it's just an album,
that apparently a lot of people here aren't too fond of. if
you take offense, that's your fault, not theirs.

I never liked NIN, adolecent development phase music. The
only track I ever enjoyed was Perfect Drug. Also, I have
heard just about all his albums, my metal head friend who
was once my roommate played it more than i played autechre.

ok i finannly got in the thread
yeah the parental thing is stupid, its not his choice but
the companies

tracks:
all the love in the world, good intro track its hard to
imagine the word "love" in a nin track

you know what you are?, i like this song quite a bit, but
the constant use of "fcuk" gets sort old

the collector, has really creative lyrics

the hand that feeds, crank this one in the car, sounds
perfect, "i keep holding on to what i want to believe, and
on and on and on", then the sqeeks, PERFECT !

love is not enough, another one w/"love" is a nice little
song

every day is exactly the same, i played this one 10 times in
a row, is so good, a solid track

with teeth, :)

only, bass line

gettting smaller, the lyrics make a person fell small, or
they give power

sunspots, good indeed

the line begins to blur, the techniques of this song are
very creative, unusual

beside you in time, wierd fades, didigeroo sounds?

right where it belongs, a good slow, think about the future
song, i like the crowd noises

rating, 9.357/10

-waits full tour

Trent, even if there are people that hate the new stuff, its
great music and it is appreciated

thanks

where the hell do you hear didgeredoo sounds in "beside you
in time"?

I just hear walls of guitar feedback, and interference
between the feedback and the percussion when it comes in.

trent reznor is like that guy that doesn't come around much

wonder what happened to trent." and then five years later
he shows up and has sex with your mom and spits in your
ears.

sounds even better in the stereo at home

yeah the soudns are more mature, youll never hear PHM, or
downward spiral again, he used a lot of textures

i was flipping through the dvd section, can you believe that
""the perfect drug" is like 7 years old ? good god how time
flies

in the spin interview, you know when they put a little
quote in bold parenthasies, trent said, "im 39 but i should
be 26", recycle quote "im 30 but i should be 24" :)

overall the record is a progression/maturity of trent, and i
like it

qrter, my didigeroo statement was wrong

so i'm still listening to this and i'm up to the hit single.
the first song started off ok except trent kind of sucked
at singing it. then when it climaxed it was annoying
over-the-top disco pop. no thanks. then there was some
really mediocre pop songs. now the hand that feeds, which i
still totally hate. i am still giving it a shot though, and
i'm going to listen to it the whole way through.

so far, i am very far from being impressed.

i actualy think this album is really, really good... i've
listened to it quite a bit over the last month and its grown
to be one of my favourite albums by NIN, up there with PHM
and TDS.

Besides you in time is awesome, reminds me of My Bloody
Valentine!

this one tune is all right. i don't know what it's called.
i like it except for the pseudo-closer piano riff. "every
day is exactly the same" now it's boring.

it's really sad. i want to like this album! really, i am a
big fan of nin. but it's just not good. it's like he is
trying to redo bits of the fragile and it isn't working.

now here's a track with another slow, sleazy riff... ok,
more of the same... but this is pretty good so far...
wait, "with the teethahh!" now it's lame.

my main problem with this record is that it's so mediocre.
it sounds like he's out of ideas.

the fragile was a grower because the songs weren't all
obvious pop songs and i didn't understand it right away.

with teeth is not a grower because the songs are obvious pop
songs and i hate it right away.

the two records are night and day. the fragile had good
songs and instrumentals and complex arrangements. this is
rick rubin regurgitated bollocks.
