i went to see nine inch nails in chi-town last night....here
is my review:

I arrive way too early in The Dresden Drama Fags' set to
hear a howling man with face paint playing the piano
accompanied by another face-painted man on the drums. It
was like the insane clown posse on piano. Anyway, their set
was almost over when the howling man took a moment to thank
Trent, and I realized that it was a howling premenstrual
woman.

Nine inch nails took the stage, silently. And they
continued, just about silently, through The Wretched, as
their opening piece. Trent wore a school girl's blouse.
Anyhow, they were oblivious to their silence because
apparantly their monitors were working just fine. They
looked like idiots. Someone must have clued them in because
they ran off the stage in embarassment for about 20 minutes
until the technical difficulties could be resolved. I've
never seen such a big fuck up in my life. I thought for a
moment I'd gone to see Ashlee Simpson. When it was all
straightened out, Diva Trent stalked back on the stage,
muttering obscenities. It was obvious that someone was
going to be fired.

Anyways, from here, the Nine Inch Nails reunion tour
continued. Trent ripped off his schoolgirl's blouse to
reveal a spaghetti-strap tank-top that he probably borrowed
Stone Cold. From here, the band progressed from old raging
classics to new sleepers.

Highlights include: Trent's tambourine solo during "aWitha
Teetha," Trent jerking off with a water bottle just like
he's done at every single other show of his life, a touching
moment during Piggy in which Trent hugged himself, the
sing-along version of Closer, a homoerotic guitar-playing
pow-wow, and Trent's raging dedication of "The Hand That
Feeds" to his beloved "George W. Cocksucker Bush." Out of
all of these moments, my personal favorite was the guitar
player's hurry to get to the guitar smashing.

The nin ACCESS page is nothing but a joke. its just there
to get fans to buy more nin shit...or nin related products.
go back to when the downward spiral dvd edition was
re-released...sniff sniff...can you smell the marketing
department making up stupid questions...i just smell
bullshit.

i'm surprised to see Richard Devine got a mention in the
Thank You's...through that ghey PDF bullshit. Its called we
know this album sucks so bad, we're not even going to print
up a book for it...you can. what a douche.

your detached cynicism is really what makes the review fun
(and hilarious). i feel kind of sorry for mr. reznor - it
seems like he thinks he's still doing cutting edge stuff
when he's really just "fat elvis" version of himself. or
he's doing what he thinks people expect... just going
through the motions...

that monitors debacle really sounds like a nightmare because
it must make him start to think, "i've dressed up as a woman
to be ironic or something and now this all feels kind of
silly. oh, well, here i go. don't forget to smash your
guitars on cue!"

thanks for the warning mimi ^^

i was wondering at which day should i go to the
Eurockéennes this summer... i really didn't want to miss
Nine Inch Nails, but on sunday there are Isis, Sonic Youth
and Amon Tobin so... : )

(by the way, it's worth what it's worth but - aWitha Teetha
gets a 79 on Metacritic so far, the lowest score being
AMG's three stars out of five...)

mimi, you just didnt enjoy it like you should have

as for the fuckups, do you really think Trent gives aflying
"f" about that,no one will get fired, its just another one
of the jokes in the nin life, shite happens

sounds like the openeing band was truely shit, but he knows
that there are a lot of fanboys, that will be gone tomorrow
and even those diehards, who dont really care

jerking off to water is always fun

hugging self to hurt, always gets one laid

you should have sold me your ticket, id buy it for face
value, and do the 8 hour drive, what the hell

p.s. when you paint your house and listen to this cd, its
nice.

ugh. seriously, hot topic is disgusting. it makes me a
little bit sick on the rare occasions that i see it... i
just have to lament the dead culture whose corpse it kicks
with every safety-rubber-mtv-brand spike wristband it sells
to a thirteen year old with a "good charlette" t-shirt.

r40f: i never said that popular = good, i just gave the
rankings because thecrimsonguard asked.

epohs: yeah, but any well-known/"popular" album will
get a good average rating from customers on amazon (or any
other big online store) anyway. that doesn't mean anything.
metacritic scores are much more accurate if you ask me.

The audience was great for Chicago, too. I can't believe I
didn't mention the guy standing next to me on the
balcony
who was repeatedly yelling "Trent! TRENT!"

Yeah dude, you're really going to get his attention.

I'm fairly certain I saw the worst show of the whole tour;
it just couldn't get any worse.

from an interview about "the downward spiral" in '94:

"The reason why I hope people like Nine Inch Nails is the
lyrics. I think that's the element I care about most on this
record, in terms of honesty and nakedness of emotion."

uh oh.

trent reznor, to me, is god-like.
yeah he's my favorite ever, so i' guess i am pretty excited
about this new album.
I've already heard "the hand that feeds"... it was poppy and
shit, but it's pretty good.
I'm not really expecting much from his next 2 albums, but
i'm still excited to get them... if not just to add to my
nin collection.

top 5 favorite bands:
nin
beck
radiohead
cocorosie
neutral milk hotel

hehe he, i bought The Hands That Feeds 10" at Hot Topic the
other day. it has the B side track "Home" on it which is a
decent piece. only other thing that track came on was The
Hand That Feeds 7" promo given away at the pre release
listening parties, and probably radio stations.

Fat Elvis rocks. this is where careers really start getting
interesting. i love With Teeth. his next record will be
called The Humble.

i bought halo18, 2 mixes of "bite", but no "home" :(

qrter [#01592203] : um... yeah. : |
well, about The Downward Spiral, the lyrics themselves are
what they are, but i have to give it that the "storyline" is
pretty coherent and quite affecting... i dunno.
one thing's for sure though, i care more about the music
than about the lyrics.

tragedy [#01592296] : i'm into the first three ones of your
list a lot too... been listening to Beck a lot lately. i
have Odelay, Mutations, Mellow Gold, Midnite Vultures and
Guero, might also get Sea Change. : )

recycle [#01592413] : 'Home' is on the japanese and european
versions, i have it on my copy! it's a decent one yeah, if
you like the album you might want to download it or
something... to review it stupidly, musically it starts with
an oriental-sounding vibe, then pounding "tribal-like" drums
but not agressive; it has soft vocals and a pretty beautiful
chorus... lyrically, if you care about it, it's about living
with someone you shouldn't be living with (because of love
or something like that probably), yet not managing to
leave...

he also said he would release a new album "soon" right after

Yeah, like in the interview.

So he's trying to add a human element to the music by making
his tracks as fast as possible? Wasn't it like a few months
between when he announced he was scrapping BLEEDTHRU and
then came out with this?

i don't know exactly - are they really different projects or
just a different title? he did scrap something, didn't he?
this is confusing. anyway, he certainly made it in a
relatively very short period of time... i don't hear
anything new or interesting in the music like i did with his
other albums - just sloppy commercial pop music.
