Just keep it for a month, watch everything you want, cancel
it. Wait 6 months. Get it for a month, watch everything you
want, cancel it. repeat forever.

They don't add worthwhile stuff regularly enough to keep it
all the time imo.

Mini Hitchcock Season

Psycho 5/5

Rope 4/5

Rear Window 4/5

Marnie 2/5

Sunshine (Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's ponderous,
depressing, ultimately stupid Sci-Fi with horrible music) -
1.5/5
(Sunshine? more like Sunshite amirite!?!?!?)

It isn't, of course, all one take, as some would have it, as
in those days the reels were only up to 10 minutes long.
There are also 4 cuts, not including the initial cut from
the titles to the interior, that aren't disguised at all.

Can you spot them all?!?!?!?

if it wasn't so reliant on jump scares.

The Endless (2017) - smart, funny and creative sci fi
fantasy horror with a smidgen of comedy and social satire,
from the guys who made Spring (also highly recommended) and
Resolution (which I haven't seen but I will now). 8/10

Yeah that's the one. It's so good because it starts off so
subtle with the scares, little movements and sounds that you
might not consciously notice, then just ramps up and up and
goes full cosmic horror. Great stuff.

The Endless is on my watchlist for my 31 Days of Horror next
month

Caught Philadelphia on telly, hadn’t seen it since it’s
original theatrical release. Some of the directing is a bit
dated but you can see this was an important film. 7

(That Neil Young song at the end is heartbreaking)

Johnny English 2/5 - wanted to like it so much but the
comedy is thin. Needed more witty jokes. The narrative is
fine, a standard 80s style bond film. Should be witty not
childish.

Watched that new Johnny English on acid in the week, can't
remember a single thing about it. Cinema was cool tho.

Xltronic the movie would be many intersecting narratives and
totally non-linear time and fucking rool... Would end like
Fear & Loathing, '...with the right kind of eyes you can
almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave
finally broke and rolled back.' .. with the box fade-out.
Not sure which member would be saying that.

Yes I did mean that, sorry!

Perfect Host - 3/10
Ant-Man 2 - 5/10
Still/Born - 6/10 surprisingly good!
Malevolent - 7/10 I really enjoyed this BUT they go to the
effort of getting all that 90s video equipment and use it
for one shot. what a waste when the difference in aesthetics
etc could have been very effective. also don't understand
why the main siblings were american unless it's to appeal to
yankee audiences?
Changeling 1980 - 7/10
Hereditary - 8/10

I find cult movies especially gruelling, as I've read a lot
about cults and I can usually tell what's going to happen
and how things will end (not well).

For example I love Ti West but I couldn't watch his
fictionalized Jonestown movie. I had seen the original
Jonestown movie when I was a kid and it disturbed the hell
out of me. Couldn't sit through that story again.

Might give this one a try as it looks different and
unpredictable.

Oh yeah I started watching The Haunting of Hill House
series, because I found out it was Mike Flanagan's work. I
loved his first movie Absentia. So first episode of Hill
House gets a 9/10 from me. I've read the book and seen the
original Robert Wise movie and I like Mike's spin on it and
how he's reworked the characters.

It's more supernatural than culty, the cult is the
framework. There is some horrific torture though. I'll be
watching haunting at hill house when I've got a week free
for sure.

Marlowe we have similar scores for thoroughbreds, I gave it
an 8, but I didn't like Hellhouse LLC at all, it was a 4 for
me.

Halloween: Resurrection - 2/10

Haunting at Hill House : 6.5 / 10 The scary parts are really
scary, but cast is annoying and the constant flashbacks are
dumb.

"more supernatural than culty" sounds promising.

Misantroll, in some ways you and I are very different
people. ;-) I thought the casting was perfect, and I like
the spiral structure that keeps adding layers to the past &
present story.
