Godfather II: 3/5, the Vito story was great but the Michael
story was boring af except for the bit in Cuba, Pacino do
you think you could brood a little more, I don't think the
audience understands, that you are brooding

Trainwreck (2015) - 4/5, I laughed lot's

LOTR saga, extended edition rewatch: 5/5, watched while
sipping from a big mug labeled "hobbit tears"

the florida project * * * * *

- loved the director's previous film, tangerine; this
is so deeply felt, compassionate, real & affecting film,
takes over from blade runner 2049 as film of 2017.

if you like jim jarmusch or john waters then watch this.

Shit, I didn't even know about The Florida Project. Will
check it out toot sweet.

I really loved The Shape of Water though. IMO our fables are
as important as our social realism. I was murdered that
Sally Hawkins didn't win best actress.

yes I did enjoy the shape of water, and sally hawkins was
deservedly awards-nominated for it, and I was half rooting
for her (though I also loved mcdormand in three billboards)
- the florida project combines the two (fable and social
realism) using visual metaphors comparing the disney next
door with the trashy reality, I hope you like it.

kiss the girls starring morgan freeman - 5/10 - the very
definition of mediocrity in every aspect of its production
along came a spider starring morgan freeman - 6/10 - utterly
ridiculous drivel that was so hammy and OTT that i enjoyed
it a lot
3 billboards outside ebbing, missouri - 8/10 - i enjoyed the
movie mostly for the performances. sam rockwell elevates
nearly everything he's in.
thor: ragnarok - 6/10 - one of the better marvel movies but
it should have stayed on planet goldblum. very funny in
parts.

"The Last Jedi" 0.3 /10 Amazingly aweful toys add. I've seen
like four star wars movies in total and forced me into this
one for the sake of it.It's horrendous sci-fi, bad acting,
plush toys everywhere. And no intelect interest at all when
it's supposed to be the greatest sci-fi itteration of all
time, it's just bad acting bullshit for buddahs sake. I
barfed real bad. And to know that the people involved
claimed to have done some stuff to promote ecology when you
see "Luke" breast feeding from a monster then fishing with
an apron. I felt so environmentaly blessed. Fucking christ
this really as to stop

"Pacific Rim 2 - Uprising" 6/10
I went along to see it with my friend and his son (he's only
20, bless) who wanted to see it. We went to the Empire,
Leicester Square and you'd think "at least it'll be a big
screen". No. It was in a room the size of a walk-in
wardrobe. And the only seats were right at the front, I
genuinely could have leaned forward and touched the screen.
The film was absolute balls of course, but I can't say that
I didn't kind of enjoy it, and some of it looked good. As it
was coming to the end I was going to joke about being
already stoked to see the third one, but then they drop a
steaming great "next time we're coming for you" so it
wouldn't have been funny.

It was better than the Last Jedi.

I'm surprised they made a sequel. First one was an OK
popcorner, didn't seem like franchise material. What did
they do, mind meld with another kaiju brain?

I hate those little cracker box cinemas, feels like paying
to sit in someone's halfassed suburban basement home
theatre.

Hmmmm, left me with the same gluten-free feeling I get with
all these ponderous indie sci-fi flicks that raid Paintbox

Bushwick - stupid movie starring the famous actor wrestler
that isn't the rock. tried to do a one shot gimmick to
detract from how bland it was - 3/10
The Commuter - starring Liam 'pissed me pants' Neeson.
Drivel, only watched it cos i thought it was set on the
London underground but it was set in new york - 3/10
Raw - French movie about a vegetarian getting a lust for
meat, I loved it although felt it was a bit too french -
7/10
The Neon Demon - Pretty, empty, tried too hard - 4/10
Copycat - pretty dumb serial killer movie elevated by
performances from Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter - 5/10
Unstoppable - runaway train movie starring Denzel and
Nu-Kirk. Garbage but hilariously the runaway train toots its
horn despite there being no one on board - 2/10

Winchester - 6/10. Fascinating story behind it all but
pretty poorly written and not greatly executed.

The Clapper - 6/10. Again, a unique premise but a typical
emo com, that lacks in the com part.

The week of - 4/10. Adam Sandler's becoming the Nicholas
Cage of comedy.

Rewatching it I was struck by how much the movie actually
plays up to Bloom's "strengths". His small, pretty boy
appearance matches the characters idealism and naivety, his
vacancy is good for someone who has lost everything, he's
not a physically powerful character and gets bested by
stronger opponents, particularly in the DC where he has a
couple of smaller extra action beats, but excels in tactical
thinking.

It's easily his best performance that I've seen and it's
insane how much the extra hour adds to the movie.
