2011 'we need to talk about kevin' 3/5

tense drama - explores the factious relationship between a
mother and her malevolent son, who ends up commiting an
unforgivable act.

if speaking of spec effects and acting then yes Ill rate
this film 9.5 too. But main idea of this film is revenge and
script is not rly useful.

well revenge is good in movies because people see that being
evil has more than one downside. but yes war is crap , not
sure why im drawn to it at the moment?actually i think i am
try to appreciacte my life more before its over. after
watching ww2 docus ,its not that difficult to appreciate

if you enjoy massaging your brain from time to time, i
recommend kiarostami's "close-up".

simply put it's a great movie. it's not arty and po-mo (like
homer likes to call it).

no.

it's just interesting and 100 % original.

so there ya go.

.....i'd think of rating it if they cast someone else
instead of will smith and that stiff chick...they ruin what
might be at least bearable sci-fi film

melancholia (Lars von Trier) : 1/5

Watching depressed rich people waiting for the end of the
world ? really ? Just one point for the casting, I always
thought Kristen Dunst was the most boring actress in the
world. Nice choice Lars !

La piel que habito (Pedro Almodovar) : 4/5

Stunning actors, great visuals and an incredible story
twist. Never imagined Almodovar would hit me in the face
that hard !

melancholia 4/10 its like two incoherent story lines...Maybe
its good movie like some critics say, but in my opinion its
nothing special, except that is rare scifi and melodramatic
depression mixture. Lacks of intrigue.

"Chopper"

bladdy great mate.

you wanna love this guy, you do....then he kills someone.

certainly not an American movie , its kinda like lock stock
or snatch , filmed in australia. refreshing, yet totally
psychotic and un-nerving.

Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows - 6/10. Nice and stylish, a
great villain, decent action in parts and some nice acting.
Really misplaced humour though which never hit the mark for
me and no real sense of tension. It's established that
Holmes has near psychic foresight which means you
know he always has something up his sleeve which will
solve any predicament removing any fear that everything
won't turn out tickety boo.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - 8/10. Excellent!
Shockingly so. It has genuine charm and emotive pull while
containing the kind of creativity in it's action that has
been long absent from Hollywood. The entire Dubai segment is
just pitch perfect in terms of pacing, really nice. The
villain was strange, I'm not sure how many lines he has in
the film but it can't be many and that bothered me until the
finale in which his dedication to his cause is fully
realised and I understood that we had been told and shown
everything we needed much earlier on in the film, there
needed to be no more exposition, no dialogue between him and
Cruise, which packed a real punch for me. Very good despite
the ultra gurn double threat of Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg,
who seemed to have trouble keeping his face under control.

I'm a fan of the series concept of having a different
director take on each movie. Each one has its own style and
pace. The first is a great espionage movie, one of the best
action films of the 90s but the second is a massive lame
duck which is a shame as I have a great big soft spot for
John Woo. The third one was my favourite even though it's
not the best film. My reasoning for this is that it tries to
blend the style and campness of the 60s TV show with a big
budget movie. It doesn't always work but when it does it's
fantastic and I love the incredibly cheesy freeze frame
ending.

I wish the series would get over the concept of having
people disavowed and wanted by their own people and all that
though. Is it too much to ask for the team to be set a
mission and simply go on it?
