Bill Murray was today confirmed as the voice of Garfield in
the new movie being made! Which is ironic, as in the cartoon
Garfield was voiced by the same guy who did the voice of
Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters cartoon!!!

haha! I always remember watching Garfield as a kid wondering
"Is that Dr. Venkman?" :D

Wow, if he'll do the goddamned voice of Garfield, he HAS to
do GBIII! I was reading yesterday that he had agreed in '99
as long as Venkman got killed off in the first 5 minutes and
spent the rest of the film as a ghost! Good idea, Bill!

That could work... maybe he's just repeating Alec Guiness
here, who persuaded Lucas to kill him off in Star Wars so he
wouldn't have as much screen time and could pop up now and
again as a ghost. Apparently he detested the dialogue, and
who can blame him!

got 'Quick Change' through the post yesterday! watched it at
10am ;) It was pretty enjoyable on first-viewing; some
typical bill mannerisms, the humour of seeing him dressed up
as a clown - naturally, the film was a tad predictable, but
it barely mattered! I can see it being added to my
repertoire of 'films to fall asleep to' :D

I saw 'Osmosis Jones' yesterday on Sky Movies - I liked it
quite a lot - obviously the King isn't it in it that much -
he kinda reminded me of his Carl role in Caddyshack - 20
years older :D

some nice quotes from groundhog day:

"I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl. We ate
lobster, drank pina coladas. At sunset we made love like sea
otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get THAT
day .. over and over and over?"

"When Chekov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and
dark and bereft of hope. Yet, we know that winter is just
another step in the cycle of life. But standing here amongst
the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of
their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate
than a long .. and lustrous winter."

"This is pitiful. A thousand people .. freezing their butts
off waiting to worship a rat! What a hype. Groundhog Day
used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the
hog out and they used to EAT IT! You're hypocrites! All of
ya'!"

"You want a prediction about the weather, you're asking the
wrong Phil. I'll give you a winter prediction. It's gonna be
cold, .. it's gonna be gray, .. and it's gonna last you for
the rest of your life."

"This is one time where televison REALLY fails to capture
the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the
weather. I for one am very grateful to have been here."

phil:"I have been stabbed, shocked, poisoned, frozen,
hung, electrocuted, and burned."
rita:"Oh, really?"
phil:"And every morning I wake up without a scratch
on me, not a dent in the fender. .. I am an immortal"

"I am A god. I'm not THE God, .. I don't think."

"Does he have to use the word 'poopy' ?"

"Ned Ryerson! (hugging him and rubbing his back) I have
missed you SO much. I don't know where you're headed, but
can you call in sick?"

rita:"You're missing all the fun. These people are
great! Some of them have been partying all night long. They
sing songs 'til they get too cold and then they go sit by
the fire and get warm and then they come back and sing some
more."
phil:"Yeah, they're HICKS Rita."

"Winter, slumbering in the op

that last one was:

"Winter, slumbering in the open air, wears on his smiling
face a dream .. of spring. Ciao!"

I have The Man Who Knew Too Little on blank VHS - it
certainly has that old-time feel about it, and is a rare
performance as Murray isn't being cynical or sarcastic in it
!

I watched Forrest Gump again last night (it happened to be
on Film Four weekly) - and I was just thinking how funny it
would have been if they had cast Bill in the title roll as
originally planned. Man, that version would be fantastic!
