I didn't like Juve yesterday but anyway it wasn't the real
Juve, they weren't much concentrated. DelPiero started well,
imo.

I saw some players interview, and it seems they would like
to play against Barça, 'cos it's a prestigious history
macth full of adrenaline and prestige.

btw: I think Barça would kick Juve out of this cup without
much problems...

Élite to gather for Nyon draw
Thursday, 20 March 2003
Eight of Europe's most revered and decorated clubs will
discover their quarter-final opponents when the draw for the
knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League is made at the
House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland at 12.30CET
on Friday.

Italian first
Valencia CF, the only team left in the competition yet to
win a European Champion Clubs' Cup, reached the last eight
on Wednesday night along with four-times winners AFC Ajax
and Internazionale FC, who have twice lifted club football's
greatest prize. The Nerazzurri's safe passage means Italy
has three representatives at this stage for the first time,
AC Milan and Juventus FC having also advanced.

Unbeaten record
Between them, the Italian challengers have won nine European
Cups, equalling Real Madrid CF's own sum of success. The
Spanish masters have emerged victorious in three of the last
five Champions Leagues - a run punctuated by Manchester
United FC's triumph in 1999 and that of FC Bayern München
in 2001. United, whose Old Trafford stadium will host the
final on 28 May, are in the hunt again this year, while FC
Barcelona, defending an unbeaten record, complete the élite
octet.

Spanish showdown?
The quarter-final matches are scheduled to take place on 8/9
and 22/23 April, and the clubs will learn their fate at
lunchtime tomorrow. The four group winners - Barça,
Valencia, Milan and United - will be drawn against one of
the runners-up, who will be at home in the first leg. They
cannot meet the second-placed team from their section,
though matches between clubs from the same country are
permitted. Thus, Milan could play Inter or Juve, and Madrid
have a two in three chance of squaring off against a fellow
Spanish side.

'Desire to win'
Madrid will be paired with either United, Valencia or
Barcelona, in what would be a repeat of last season's
semi-final. The holders qualified behind Milan in Group C
after winning 1-0 at FC Lokomotiv Moskva on Tuesday, and
their coach, Vicente

Vicente del Bosque, said of his team's potential
quarter-final opponents: "If we have to play a Spanish side,
I don't really mind. I respect all the teams, I know that
anyone we meet is going to have the same desire to win [the
Champions League] as we have."

Koeman wants return
While Del Bosque is taking the draw in his stride, Ajax
coach Ronald Koeman has made no secret of his desire to
return to Camp Nou. A European Cup winner with Barça in
1992, the Dutchman said: "In the quarter-finals I would like
to play Barcelona, but that is a personal view." Sir Alex
Ferguson, the United manager, added: "I would be happy
enough to face Real Madrid. I believe Manchester United
would be a challenge for them."

Semi-final draw
The quarter-final draw will be followed immediately by that
for the semi-finals. There will be no seeds in the last four
and the first team drawn will play its first match at home.
Two balls saying 'Winners of semi-final 1' and 'Winners of
semi-final 2' will then be placed in a bowl. The first team
picked will be the home side in the Old Trafford final. Both
draws will take place live on uefa.com on Friday.

that scholes-raul makes all the difference :)

players are great in both teams, but as a team real works
much better, imo
and del bosque is not affraid to take chances...
real have raul and zidane that can decide the match
united only have van nistelroy

at least this is what i see :)

yeah people usualy say that-it is completly normal with
names like that, but honestly-i see them play perfectly as a
team

a part of me wish that madrid wouldn't be so strong, but
when they get out in the field they just impress me each
time-nothing i'd rather do but watch the game when they're
playing :)

btw: I think you overestimate Milan my friends, this team
was really strong in the last matches of 2002, but in 2003
is doing very bad. I don't think it will be so dangerous for
other team in champion's league...

Anyway, tomorrow great football in Italy with Milan-Juventus

12:30... the draw...

I hope in the followings matches... they will be the best
for show, imo:

Manchester Utd. - Real Madrid
Barcellona - Juventus
Milan - Ajax
Valencia - Inter

I hope to avoid all kind of derby between Italians and
between Spanish

he has skills
but he is bad for a team, he has no football view

when I say football view I mean:
zidane (he scores no more than 10 goals a year, but still he
is considered the best, why? cos he creates football)

rivaldo doesnt create football, he just shows his skills
(and not that much lately)

he was very important for barcelona.

but I tell you something:

the better barcelona plaid the worst he did.

I will explain this:

he is a great skillfull player, but he just plays for him,
so if the team is lost, if there is no answer, he is the
solution, he can solve a complicated match with a freekick,
or a incredible trick

but if the team played well, as a team, fast passing, then
he was like always stoping the rythim and the speed of the
game, still looking for his personal game, breaking the flow
of the team.

i never really thought about this, but yeah-for what i can
remember he was always trying to impress, and it makes
perfect sense regarding how barcelona was playing at that
time
he is definitely a bit too full of him self (even now in
milan)

Milan situation for me:

Shevchenko: One of my fav player, but he's passing really a
bad period. He doesn't play much now and it's a little bit
disappointed. Unfortunately he's very distant from
Shevchenko of 2 years ago.

Rivaldo: I think he plays really well only in Brasil. It's
at 30% now.

Inzaghi: He scores a lot of games but make a lot of errors
too. I know him well 'cos he played in Juve for many years.
Not very good technic but great opportunist.

Dida/Abbiate: In my opinion, Milan hasn't a great goal
keeper has others big team. They don't convince me.

Tomasson: He doesn't play much in Milan, it's difficult to
find space there.

In the complex a good team but with problems in defense and
some in the midfield. Probably the better thing is the
attack (in this momenti)

When Rui Costa plays bad (and it's often...) he's really a
damage for Milan.
Rui Costa played really well only in Fiorentina two years
ago.

Pirlo is pretty good (especially to score penalty) but he
doesn't make the difference.

Seedorf is very good and he's playing well.

Maldini is playing well too, but unfortunately he's a little
bit old (same story of Ferrara in Juve)

I repeat if Rivaldo, Shevchenko, Rui Costa, Inzaghi,
Tomasson, would play as they are able to do, Milan would be
almost invincible, but at this moment it's a strong team but
nothing more.
