Hippy yaah yeaah!!! I got it... this morning I wrote:"

"I hope in the followings matches... they will be the best
for show, imo:

Manchester Utd. - Real Madrid
Barcellona - Juventus
Milan - Ajax
Valencia - Inter "

I'm really happy for the matches, they're incredible
exciting football matches... the only one sad thing is that
one (between me and you nacmat) will be happy and one will
be depress :-/
My dream was to meet Barça in the grandfinal anyway I'm
sure we will see two great matches and win the best

from barça official site

FC Barcelona will meet Juventus in one of the outstanding
clashes produced by the draw for the Champions League
quarterfinals.

Barca will play the first leg in the Delle Alpi stadium in
Turin and the second and decisive leg in Camp Nou. While
there's no all-Spanish confrontation in the quarterfinals,
there may be in the semis when the winner of the Real
Madrid-Manchester United game will play either FC Barcelona
or Juventus. There could be a repetition of last year's Real
Madrid-Barcelona semi-final, this time with the second leg
in Camp Nou.

The full draw for the Champions League quarterfinals:

Barcelona - Juventus
Ajax - AC Milan
Internazionale - Valencia CF
Manchester United - Real Madrid

The first leg will be played on 8th and 9th April and the
second leg on 22nd and 23rd. The semi-finals will be on 6th
and 7th May (first leg) and 13th and 14th May (second leg).
The final will be played in Manchester's Old Trafford
stadium on 28th May.

Of the eight teams present in the quarterfinals, seven have
already been crowned champions of Europe. Only Valencia has
never won Europe's top football honour, but has been losing
finalist on two occasions.

they are not an average team

roma won madrid

lokomotiv drawed madrid
dortmund drawed madrid
aek atenas drawed madrid twice
genk drawed madrid

cant agree with you

its ok that barça and juve maybe havent done a dream game
so far this year, but neither has madrid

madrid just played one good match in this champions:

roma 0 - madrid 3
first game of the season

the rest:
victory against dortmund: two lucky goals, no more

victory against milan: milan was already cualified as first,
so no tension at all

victory against lokomotiv: one aproach one goal, lokomotiv
failde like 4 clear ocassions

only 5 games have madrid won so far in this championship

5 out of 12

what is it so good that you see in that?
they have no good results and they havent really played well

that is true-very bad results so far for the way they're
playing (now)

i think they their game is a perfect example of what
football is all about
they're working wonderful as a team (usually), every action
they start make sence, they all do what they're supposed to
do, they seem quite homogeneous...

History favours Madrid or United
Friday, 21 March 2003
It bodes well for Real Madrid CF and Manchester United FC
that whenever they have met previously in the European
Champion Clubs' Cup the winner of the tie has gone on to
savour eventual success in the competition.

Class of 2003
Most recently, in 2000, the Spanish side defeated the then
UEFA Champions League holders 3-2 at Old Trafford to earn a
place in the last four following a 0-0 draw at the Santiago
Bernabéu. FC Bayern München then met a similar fate as did
Valencia FC in the final, beaten 3-0 at the Stade de France.
The Madrid class of 2003 contains the same core as the one
which denied United three years ago, save for a midfield
strengthened by Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane and a new
partner for Raúl González in the shape of Ronaldo.

I'm glad not to be playing another Spanish team so this is a
good draw from my point of view

Zinedine Zidane

Wait over
Zidane, whose wait for a UEFA Champions League winners'
medal ended at Hampden Park last May following a 2-1 victory
against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, said of the quarter-final draw:
"I'm glad not to be playing another Spanish team so this is
a good draw from my point of view. I don't mean Manchester
is easier but the way they play, open and with spaces, is
better for us." Madrid may have avoided FC Barcelona and
Valencia CF, but United, who have coasted through the two
group stages, will provide formidable opposition.

'Strong United team'
Zidane agrees. "All games are difficult from now on," he
added. "You have to play them and win them. If we want to
carry on in the competition we have to beat Manchester
United. This is a very strong United team." The French
maestro would rather have played the first leg away but
instead United will visit the Spanish capital on 8 April
ahead of a return on 23 April.

Holy Grail
Madrid first accounted for United in the 1956/57 season en

Holy Grail
Madrid first accounted for United in the 1956/57 season en
route to their second European Cup triumph, but the Red
Devils responded with a victory of their own in the
semi-finals of the 1967/68 competition, advancing 4-3 on
aggregate. With SL Benfica beaten 4-1 at Wembley in the
final, Matt Busby's quest for the Holy Grail was over.

'Worst scenario'
Sir Alex Fergsuon's fledglings won the Champions League in
1999 and the Scot would like nothing better than to add to
that tally on 28 May, the date of the Old Trafford final.
United assistant club secretary, Ken Ramsden, did not dwell
on a tough draw - "the worst scenario is not to be in it" -
but instead looked forward to the coming together of two
great clubs.

'Tremendous quality'
He told uefa.com: "We have a great friendship with Real
Madrid and have great respect for what they achieved. But we
want to beat them - it's that simple. When you look at the
tremendous quality of the teams at this stage it doesn't
matter who you play. If you're going to be successful you
have to beat the likes of Real Madrid." If United do that,
they will meet either FC Barcelona or Juventus FC in the
last four.

Lippi happy with Juve fate
Friday, 21 March 2003
The UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie between Juventus
FC of Italy and Spain's FC Barcelona brings together two of
the biggest clubs in world football - and Juventus coach
Marcello Lippi is delighted.

It will be a fascinating and exciting match

Marcello Lippi

'Fascinating and exciting'
"I said before the draw that I wanted to face Barcelona and
now I'm really happy," he said. "It's not for technical
reasons but just because I have never faced Barcelona before
during my career. It will be a fascinating and exciting
match, like all the other quarter-finals"

'Two extraordinary matches'
Juventus official Romy Gai concurred. "They should be two
extraordinary matches," he said after today's draw at UEFA
headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. "It is a good draw for
the whole competition as we have avoided any Italian teams -
so it is an excellent draw overall. They are a great team
with great fans and a magnificent stadium, it will be very
difficult."

'A great team'
The only unbeaten club remaining in the competition, Barça
defeated the Italian champions in the European Champion
Clubs' Cup quarter-final in 1986, though they lost the final
to FC Steaua Bucuresti. Barcelona also beat Juve in the
semi-finals of the 1991 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, before
falling 2-1 in the final against Manchester United FC.
Regarding a possible semi-final meeting with either United
or holders Real Madrid CF, Gai said: "That would be
something for the fans to look forward to and gives some
extra spice to the quarter-final."

Antic relish
Barcelona coach Raddomir Antic felt that the Spanish
representation in the draw was telling. "Having three
Spanish sides in the quarter finals means the Spanish League
is still the best in Europe," he said. "Spain again has a
big starring role in Europe." Antic also said he was
relishing the prospect of Italian opposition. "We will see
two different footballing philosophies on the pitch," he
said.

Pérez pleased
Barcelona's general manager Javier Pérez was pleased that
his side will be at home in the quarter-final second leg.
"We are really looking forward to the tie, and have a slight
advantage, theoretically at least, with the second leg being
played at our place," he said.

We have had a great run in Europe this season and just need
to extend that

Javier Pérez

Looking forward
"We have had a great run in Europe this season and just need
to extend that by five or six games now," Pérez continued.
"The Spanish league and the Champions League are two
different competitions, and we have everything to look
forward to in the latter tournament."

Quarter-final dates
In the quarter-finals, Barcelona will travel to the Delle
Alpi for the first leg on Wednesday 9 April before playing
host to Juventus at the Nou Camp on Tuesday 22 April.

Fiesta time for Spanish press
Thursday, 20 March 2003
By Patrick Hart

The Spanish newspapers assumed the cheerleading duties this
week after the UEFA Champions League second group stage
ended on a positive note for three Primera División sides.

'Epic match'
Valencia CF achieved the outstanding result of Matchday 12,
their 2-1 victory against Arsenal FC at Mestalla taking the
national champions into the quarter-finals as Group B
winners. Rafael Benítez's team duly took the plaudits in
today's press. "Carew sees Valencia through in epic match,"
AS wrote, while Marca also acclaimed the Norwegian
goalscorer, saying that "Carew lit the final firework" on
the last night of the city's festival of fire, the Fallas.

Europe's No1
Barcelona FC were already assured a last-eight place as
Group A winners, but underlined their European supremacy
with a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United FC - their eleventh
in 12 group games this campaign. According to Sport
newspaper, the Camp Nou club are the "No1 in Europe".

Hot and cold
European champions Real Madrid will dispute that after they
too reached the knockout stage with a hard-earned 1-0
success at FC Lokomotiv Moskva in Group C. Despite freezing
temperatures in Moscow, Madrid "were sweating", said Marca,
until "Ronaldo used his head at the best moment".

Italian vote
Italy also completed a triumvirate of quarter-finalists, as
Internazionale FC beat Bayer 04 Leverkusen to take second
place in Group A. The Gazzetta dello Sport hailed "the
discovery of a great African talent" after a goal from
18-year-old Nigerian Obafemi Martins set up the visitors'
2-0 success. "Martins was the protagonist," it said. "His
ability to run with the ball was fantastic."

Holy trinity
Inter joined AC Milan and Juventus FC in Friday's draw.
"Three teams in the quarter-finals," the Gazzetta remarked,
"only Germany in 1998, England in 2001, and Spain on four
occasions have achieved this."

Juve chance
While Milan had long been confirmed as top dogs in Group C,
Juventus owed their position as runners-up behind Manchester
United FC in Group D to a better head-to-head record against
FC Basel and RC Deportivo La Coruña. "The Italian champions
lost [2-1] against Basel," Tuttosport wrote, "but now have
the chance to win the Champions League again after seven
years."

Puppy love
AS Roma were unable to make it a quartet of Italian sides,
as AFC Ajax claimed the second spot behind Valencia in Group
B by holding the Giallorossi at the Olympic Stadium. De
Telegraaf paid tribute to Ronald Koeman's "puppies" who, it
said, "showed they are in the best eight teams in Europe".
Andy van der Meyde's early strike heralded what the De
Volkskrant newspaper called "a night of joy and admiration":
"The dark years ended with a brave performance that brings
Ajax back to the place they have longed to be."

German lament
Elsewhere, the reaction to the week's action was more muted.
There was "pride and frustration" for BV Borussia Dortmund
in the Süddeutsche Zeitung after their victory at Milan had
failed to edge them past Madrid in Group C. "Ten points in
the second stage is usually enough for the quarters," the
paper noted.

Bad form
The Guardian blamed Arsenal's home form for their Group B
demise, writing: "As Arsenal drew all three home matches in
the group, the dread grew that there must be bleak
repentance for such profligacy." While the Gazzetta dello
Sport levelled a similar accusation at Roma.

United challenge
Exiting the competition with honour intact were a Newcastle
