I don't know about what people have said here but it's difficult to find people that appreciate killbill (esp vol 2!). This makes me want to hug you. These 2 films were lovingly made for film enthusiastes and movie geeks. But they all seemed to turn around and say "kill bill is shit! Tarantino is just sooo 90's". The only people I've met that liked killbill are chavs and nuts magazine readers. killbill 1 4/5 -there is nohting to hate in this film unless your looking to be fashionably otherwise. Nice tarantino style script, perfect story, great actors, wonderful music, flawless film structure. killbill 2 3/5 -i prefer the atmosphere in this one in many ways. but something about that whole bit at the end loses the edge that the first hour of the film captures so nicely. |

don't listen to big, he's just talking crazy talk. anyway, yes they are very entertaining. i think what i like most about Quentin Tarentino's movies is how he turns complex sociopathic criminals into regular people. he makes you relate to them by giving them all these endearing qualites. i especially liked Bill (the romantic) and Pai Mei (although his qualities are far from endearing :) |

Tarantino is perfect with charcter. Dusk till dawn is at it's best at the beginning. You just know that tarantino wrote that. Rodriguez is fun but he's terrible with character building. I think that tarantino is good in the same way stephen king is good. They both manage to capture the intricate ugliness in characters or they're subtle weaknesses ect. He can get under the skin in a way that isn't necessarily better than other directors/writers but is specific to him. He is special |

My favorite 'i'm so pissed' film is.........................Korean masterpiece BITTERSWEET LIFE. If your not sick of korean cinema it is a brilliant film. I t has a killbill charm. The guy that made this film is good (tale of two sisters) but his input in three extremes 2 was pretty dull. |

Dekalog 5/5 A 10 episode spanning drama by Kieślowski, each episode based on one of the 10 commandments. It's not exactly a movie but each episode feels like a fantastic short. Kubrick loved this stuff too. Too bad Kieślowski didn't release more because I loved La double vie de Véronique and his Trois Couleurs trilogy. |

hi AMPI MAX, hope that you are merry - I only watched one half of the dark half, I don't know which half but I remember it being a bit dull... I'm not a big fan of Stephen King even though I've ploughed through most of his books and seen most of the film adaptations: still, it's worth it for the occasional gem (both on paper and on the silver screen). |

It's hardly a masterpiece but i'm very specific about the structure and timing of a film. The dark half has all the right elements in just the right places. For example elmstreet 1 is great but for pure perfection in 80's teen horror cheese structure you want freddy 3 (and freddy 4 has the best freddy death out of all of them! So watch that and think of me!) |

I always thought of it as the worst of major Kieslowski's releases. Never understood how one could treat some of them seriously. For example the first one and especially "Short film about killing". It's unbelievable how bad the actors' craftmanship is in that one. It doesn't matter for foreign audiences and also it's not common to detest Dekalog in Poland, so I guess my lack of human feelings is at fault here. |

Actually, I'd really like to know whether you can notice something strange in the acting in "Short Film about Killing" if you don't understand the language. For me it's a pity that Baka and Globisz got the parts, because it could have been a really powerful movie. |

The acting didn't strike me as particulary good or bad. I remember liking the kid in the first episode a lot. In the movie about killing I had my doubts about the efforts of the young bloke that played the killer but he came out pretty solid in the end, imo. I do realize bad dialogue or speech can really destroy a movie. I guess I'm lucky to miss out on that. :) I did fell that some of the episodes (including the one about killing) had a very non-serious atmosphere. A lot of the characters are just plain caricatures so most of the slight overacting didn't bother me at all. |
