Planet of the Apes (1968)-8/10

Surprisingly quite good. Can't believe I waited this long to
see it.

Worth watching as a tribute to Charleton Heston.

:) ...but there was some nice giant-sized monsters, some of
the cgi worked in the mist (cause it made it less shiny,
flimsy and less artifical-looking)... (but of course the
film was a complete waste of time)

All That Jazz 10/10!

This is one of the greatest glitz and glam tour de forces of
showmanship i've ever barred witness to. if you're
interested in theatre in anyway its imperative that you see
this, and if you're not interested in it you still have to
see this thing. The editor of this film gets up, puts on a
glittered top hat and does a goddamn tap dance, cause its a
rare occasion i ever see editing energize a movie like
they've done here. can't say enough good things about it.

funny it kinda reminds me of Network in ways, one of them
being that they were done around the same time.

Shit, so I wasted 12 hours downloading that the other day?
To think of all the other things I could have done with that
bandwidth.

Lisztomania, 3.5/5, super setpieces like Nazi-Robot Wagner
and the 30 Foot Penis make this one a winner.

The Age of Ignorance - 2/10

I tried to stay away from this thread, but this movie really
pissed me to no end. How less original can you be? I'm just
glad that my opinion about Arcand has been proven right yet
once again.

I FUCKING HATE SAW! It's so awful and just stinks of se7en
but like a decade too late.

online dariusgriffin from cool on 2008-04-16 18:39 [#02195312]

Saw is very stupid and very mean, which is a worrying trend
in modern horror films. I hate that shit.

offline AMPI MAX from United Kingdom on 2008-04-16 18:50 [#02195317]
Points: 10789 Status: Regular

I suppose it's mean mainly because it's pointless and
unecessary because the plot says nothing but 'whoa THAT'S
LIKE SO DARK'. That fucking puppet on a bike thing is so
90's and it's just an insult to horror fans..........except
it isn't because EVERYONE I've asked about it loved it. I
bought it cheap just to give it a try. I felt like some
light fun teen style horror for a change but found it wasn't
fun, exciting, new, or even violent in the right ways. I
watched it once, then 3 months later gave it another try.
Half way through I took it out of my DVD player and held it
up to the light. I then squeezed it until it shattered then
i did this mad 'fuck-you-for-being-a-shit-film' dance on the
case (which hurt my feet). I burnt bits of it with a lighter
then threw it away. It even felt like it was an inslut to my
bin. I've NEVER snapped one of my films. NEVER until that
day.

online dariusgriffin from cool on 2008-04-16 20:41 [#02195326]
Points: 12381 Status: Lurker

Exactly. It's one of the most insulting films I've ever
seen. It's bad and it makes you feel bad. It thinks it's
smart because it assumes you're an idiot.

Yeah! I havn't seen the sequels but the first one was like
that too. 'Are the phsychotic motives of the killer really
so bad when we all live our lives in such a deluded foolish
way. Is he not the one that truely sees the light. Perhaps
it's us who are killing ourselves blah blah blah.
Such an insulting cliche. It's been done before but better.
The whole thing reeks of crap. The whole film is so posey.
Even if this wasn't a problem the dull faceless cast, gothic
'slipknot-MTV' lighting, and pants film structure make for
an utterly unlikable film. BUT SO MANY PEOPLE LIKED IT AS IF
OUR GENERATION SIMPLY HAS NO SHAME...........I guess it is
just a film and I should calm down..........

I've seen all the sequels because I hate myself, and I like
them better. Probably because they're more obvious in their
stupidity, or more likely you just get used to it.
