A 3.5 is a solid 'B' in my book. If you like Pixar, as I
do, there's no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this film. The
first half even strays from that fish-out-of-water hide and
get chased around formula that you know what I'm talking
about.

The Darjeeling Limited 3/5

was an ok film, showed a lot of trademark Wes Anderson shots
and stuff, but i wasn't as gripped by it as his other stuff

Doomsday -20/5

worst film i've seen in a very long time. only film to:
1. almost give me a headache from the amount of cuts in one
sequence
2. to make me (out loud) exclaim "what the fuck?!" in the
cinema (at the Bentley unveiling)

Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs - 8/10

... that's me being generous. The jokes work fine and the
epic scope of the film is entertaining, but there's
something about the film's length and style that suggests to
me that it doesn't quite work as a feature length film. It
goes on for too long, without ending up anywhere special.
It's another extended futurama episode, but an above average
one for sure.

United 93 - 9/10

... now that's a good film! i was more intrigued by the
surprisingly copious on-ground stuff than the expected
off-ground panic, but the film on the whole has this
wonderful subdued quality to it that's hard to resist. This
is the only way it could have worked as a movie, and it
does.

Cashback - 7/10

bottom line, it's an OK film... BUT:

1) it's pretentious and shallow
2) it's an American movie masquerading as a British film
3) it's 90% utter derivation, 10% clever innovation (just
look at some scenes, characters, editing techniques and
ideas and you can find direct antecedents in real, better
movies)

I hope these kind of films don't become the norm. But wait:
they ARE the norm! that's the problem... gee

F for Fake - 9½/10

another Orson Welles masterpiece, one of the most confusing
and edgy "documentaries" I've seen.

Paranoid Park - 7½/10

I like Gus van Sant. But does every other shot reaaaallly
have to be in slo-mo? This is essentially the same film as
the director's Elephant, or even Psycho. Beautiful, with a
nice soundtrack, but cold as hell and more nihilistic than
the works of Larry Clark.

The Holy Mountain 1973 rating: 5/5

Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky

it's instensly encoded with strange philosophical and
political suggestions, which are hard to decode. it also has
some strange theological ideas which will be highly
offensive to religious people.

Most people might see it as just abstract, surreal and
meaningless, but i can see it has some very challenging
ideas and i think it stimulates me in a weird kind of way.

Play Time - 4.5/5
Filmed in Tati Town, everybody's going somewhere but no one
knows why.. under blue skies. A restaurant becomes a riot
and a car circle a carousel, long shots capture everything.
When the window washer swings the screens everything drops,
even my heart. I need to see more of this Mr Hulot
character.

Lolita by Stanley Kubrick, definitely not an essential
movie, the acting is pretty awful in most scenes and the
story has some narrative problems due to the censorship,
still the visuals and photography as well as some scenes
which are very well done like when Humbert goes to check
Lolita in the hospital and she's missing... I give it a
2/5

Next movie I'm gonna see is Dr. Strangelove, I hope it's a
little better :)

The Trial - 9/10

even though I got lost about half way through the film, I
still think Orson Welles doing Kafka is not to be
missed...

Heima (Sigur Ros) - 8/10

nicely edited and beautiful documentary about the band,
marred only by its lack of focus and of anything original to
say

It's fictionalized history with all the quirks inherent in
that kind of storytelling, they can annoying me sometimes.
In some cases, I get distracted over-questioning everything.
The dichotomy of the presentation almost nagged at me as
much as the dichotomy of the real story.

Actually speaking of that, the movie I saw before Munich was
The Assassination of Jesse James by Ben's Bro, and that is
another movie stacked full of dichotoies and revisionist
history. But it didn't bother me as much in this movie, 5/5

X-Files: I Want To Believe - 6/10

Has some good moments, but after ten years since the last
movie, is this all they could come up with? Sad, very sad. I
used to be a big fan of the original series, but the best
thing about this movie is a surprise ending after the
credits.

X-Files: I Want To Believe - 4/5

There were the good moments, not as much as I hoped for. I
too was a huge fan of the series. Definitely liked seeing
Fox and Dana on the relationship side of things. As for the
storyline itself with stem-cells and religion side of
things, it was quite good, but I liked other aspects of the
X-Files originally, and was hoping to see more of that
direction with the new movie. I wasn't disapointed with the
movie, but they could have done more I thought.

BoxBob-K23, what's the surprise ending? I have the rip of
this and I cuts off right at the end...
