Diary of the Dead - 5/5

George A. Romero's latest installment in the dead series...

Friday I was privileged enough to see 'Diary of the Dead'
special test screening in Chicago. I am a huge fan of the
series, and was honestly pretty disappointed in 'Land of the
Dead'... this being said I was very, very pleased with Diary
of the Dead. I travelled 4 hours to see the movie, and it
was worth every minute and dollar. George Romero has
returned to his roots, and it shows very strongly throughout
the film. Very realistic, and very believable. This is the
ultimate zombie movie in my opion. Not over the top, and the
message on how people act today in society is spot on. This
movie could be done over and over from different points of
view and different charaters and it would still work. Now I
can't wait for it to actually be released to theaters...
everyone, go watch and support this movie when it finally
arrives. the dead walk

Raising Arizona - 3.75/5

It was alright I guess, lots of good parts but I would be
lying if I said I truly got into it. In fact, I watched
parts of it several times on the television. I'd say this
looks like good movie, but I don't like Johnny Cage that
much and I don't feel like watching it. This time, I watch
it all and I got no problems, except towards the end. A
funny, overblown movie is one thing, but why do that? I
don't care for that, showing stuff that is obviously
fake dreams. 4+ is for classics, this isn't classic,
but maybe it should be. I don't know.

Yea, I guess everyone can be their own judge. I didn't
expect much after Land of the Dead, but I was very
impressed. They never went overboard (that doesn't mean much
in a world full of zombies)

Raising Arizona? 2.5/5

Yes, it does have moments that are entertaining. More of a
weaker comedy in my mind, maybe it's just dated to me. I saw
the movie over 10 years ago, and a few times since.

American Gangster - 3/5. The same history told again, no or
new elements. Take a bunch of good actors and make a
gangster movie and you have at least 8.0 in imdb.

The ending is totally ridiculous. The movie should end with
the imprisonement of the main bad-character. The fact that
he helps the police-officer to put into jail all of his
partners should be maybe mentioned at the end with some text
but not take another few minutes of film...

The music is also not really adequate - it's too modern
sounding. It was okay in general but it didn't suit the
movie at all.

awesome, heard nothing but good things about Diary of the
Dead, can't wait to see it, sounds like a return to form and
people say its better than Cloverfield

persepolis 8/10

absolutely fantastic theatre experience. the black & white
animation is simply gorgeous on the big screen. i imagine
it's going to lose a lot of impact on dvd.

It seems the uglier the famous actor the better they are as
actors. That's enough of me messing up this huge ratings
thread back to your fractions.

You're right, "Pop" it is, says Fuzzball. From what I've
read, this is one of Hideaki Anno's lesser flicks. I can't
wait to see more!

Who here goes to imbd? Who here has gone there after
watching a film you loved expecting rave reviews in the
comment boards only to find "this movie sucked" or " Why the
accetns?" or " I wasted 10 dollars on this" or "Boooooring"
in the message titles.

yea and it really depends a lot on which review just happens
to be there waiting for you on the front page... that's why
I tend not to read reviews (at least not imdb) beforehand,
that can really affect the experience... average ratings are
bullshit anyway, they also have a tendency to favour
much-hyped recent films which habitually creep up to the
top-250 only to fall back down when the excitement subsides.

''technology is dangerous, here's what's going to happen!''

still some lol-worthy aspects that are not easily ignored.
Probably only a 4/5 without them, though.
