Jumper 2/5.

Enjoyable and all that, but it would have been so much
better if the protagonist didn't have an nemesis, at all.
Why couldn't they have let it be a love story, with a
sci-fi-setting, instead? The whole idea of "jumping" had
enough substance to provide a context for the whole film, in
my opinion, without a "bad guy", just for the sake of it (or
some cgi-action).

"Jumping" acts as metaphor of an anomaly within a system
(society), that, as such, cannot be controlled. They could
put him in jail, sure, but what would be the point with
that?

Aaargh, don't you hate it when great potential's gone to
waste?

but at least you got to see Monica Bellucci, but i guess
thats why it gets 0.5 and not 0 ;)

Rambo 2.5/5

I was expecting something beter from this one, Rambo should
have had more action than standing on the jeep with that
heavy machine gun killing everything in sight. Some of it
was fun though and wasn't a bad way to spend 90 mins.

Zeitgeist 8/10

A masterfully edited, surprisingly smooth documentary - and
even though there was very little new information in it for
me, all the three main areas were handled well and, if
anything, it managed to be relatively concise despite its
"catch-all" reach.

My main problem with documentaries such as this is that fail
to be critical of the critics themselves: the assumption is
that somewhere behind the web of lies there is some Truth to
be had, and if we just listen to the right people, we'll
reach this Truth. I doubt it. But listen to the message and
make up your mind on your own!

If approached with a skeptical perspective, this documentary
is a good primer on many important issues of our times.

the thing i like about that documentary is the powerful
sense of genuine concern and conviction, which really makes
you consider hard what is being said

yes, conviction and powerful emotional appeal (in more
honest times, it was called propaganda value). Also, I
happen to respect many of the people quoted and referenced
therein, and even the music was pretty good. Hey, simply a
nice package!

There Will Be Blood - 9+/10

yep, liked it, really did, only marred by some believability
issues, but full of fantastic (if theatric) performances and
a memorable story arch... and an escalation of tension all
the way to the end.

not sure if you're joking, but here's the imdb
link. it's the greatest silent film ever made, one
of the very rare instances of cinema becoming true art, and
will haunt me for the rest of my life.

It's a great film though, made even better by the fact that
it's completely silent and works so well with no sound no
music no nothing. Yay silence.

yeah, i actually watched it in complete silence. it's
definitely not a film that needs music to convey emotion.

I'm having an increasingly hard time dealing with music
scores on silent films. Especially modern versions or
reinterpretation, yech. It's so good to be able to just
Watch.

Diary of the Dead - 3.5/5

Social commentary was a bit heavy handed and pretty bad
acting, apart from that pretty good.

Seen a trailer for a Spanish horror film [Rec] which looked
really good!

I mean the 105 min version, I'm not sure how much of a
difference there is to the Grindhouse version, like 10
minutes or something.

Or at least the most emotional movie every made.

Congratulations on your good choice.
