The Bridge at Remagen, 4.4/5. Great score by Elmer Bernstein
that I'm trying to find online, great acting, especially Ben
Gazzara in slimeball mode, good action scenes for the era,
smart portrayal of both the Americans and the Krauts... I'm
glad I saw it. History Television's ''Fact and Film'' is a
good thing in life.

The Center of the World - 8/10 (pleasant surprise)
The Hairdresser's Husband - 5/10 (god, even the camera
angles were predictible)
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me - 8/10 (People would love this
movie if not for the name Lynch. Now it's cool to diss the
man.)

whoa weird i'm watching this on tv right now. it's good
stuff.

memories (3 short firms, all written by katsuhiro otomo of
akira fame):
magnetic rose (directed by koji morimoto) - 9.5/10 a good
reason to get this dvd
stink bomb (directed by tensai okamura) - 8/10
cannon fodder (directed by katsuhiro otomo) - 7/10
suprisingly my least favorite and by otomo. interesting
animation though.

neo tokyo (once again 3 short films):

labyrinth labyrinthos (rintaro)- 8.5 / 10 unique animation
and fun and child like
the running man (yoshiyaka kawajiri)- 7.5 / 10 this was
aired on mtv's liquid television
construction cancellation order - 8 / 10 nice satire by
otomo

roujin z (once again, otomo) - 8.5 very odd concept for a
movie. once again a nice satire by otomo with some
akira-esque animation towards the end

oh and if i haven't mentioned akira before it's like the
greatest movie ever

Have any of you seen THX 1138?

I heard that the beating noise at the beginning of the
downward spiral was sampled from that movie.

Oh yeah...

American Pie: Band Camp 1/5
The titties are the only good thing about it, and they are
very limited.

Into the Blue 3/5
Decent predictable action flick with Jessica Alba, it was
actually directed by John Stockwell, Arnie Cuntingham's
friend on the movie Christine. Okay, I admit it, if Alba
wasn't in the movie, it wouldn't be worth watching...

Motorcycle Diares - 7/10 - Sorry, but this is just modern
day hagiography. Well filmed, easy to digest, straight to
the point - nothing interesting.

Elling - 8/10 - Though I know that it could have been much
lower if I had been in bad mood while watching.

Cuntychuck, I hope you like Mirror. It's the most memorable
outlandish piece of film I have ever seen. Not in a freaky
way like Tetsuo or Holy Mountain, it's beauty and depth is
unmatched. I hope I don't ruin it for you.

I can't say the movie is bad, just because I didn't like it.
I can't say anything bad about the script other that some
parts were somewhat simplistic and naive. There were no
technical faults I could notice. I just don't like the
hagiographic intention and I have watched too many movies to
immerse myself in a story like this. But it wouldn't be
honest to call Motorcycle Diaries a bad movie.

Basically what you are saying is that it deserves a 5/10...

5 being completely average.

A 7/10 would be a good movie, that let you down in a couple
of ways.

Brief Encounter - 5/5

wow, THE best British film i've ever seen! This is one i'll
definitely be watching a few times :) I'm addicted to the
Criterion Collection DVD's!

I can't wait to see Mirror by Tarkovsky, I've seen Stalker
and Solaris by him, both amazing.

If I would have to rate it for somebody with a taste similar
to mine, i would give no more that 5, rather a 4. But I'm
like a friggin' Ebert here, I try to base the rating on how
well they do what they intend to do. And this one does tell
it's story very well and shows Guevara as a pure and overly
honest person. If I liked what it tried to do, I would give
it a 9. Well, I didn't and I have the power to lower my
score by two points for not liking the content. Still, it's
a good movie.

after watching a couple of the ghost in the shell:
standalone complex shows, i got somewhat interested in the
series and rented the two movies

ghost in the shell 9/10 - outstanding. amazing animation
(animation around akira to the mid 90's which was like this
is near perfect to me), good storyline, my only real
complaint is that it seemed to end somewhat abrubtly. after
watching it i was hoping the 2nd would pick up where the 1st
left...

ghost in the shell 2: innocence - 7.5 - good, but i have
some complaints. the animation style really isn't my thing.
i really don't like cg mixed in with animation, but this
wasn't as bad as others i'd seen. towards the middle i
wasn't liking it too much, but it wrapped up nicely in the
end.

the 2nd movie reminded me greatly of metal gear solid 2.
batsuo (sp?) fighting beside the major (sort of) at the end
of the movie is a lot like raiden and snake (from mgs1)
fighting together in the simulation. similar premise of
reality being blurred by technology. not really sure who
influenced who, if anything.

hopefully i can catch standalone complex around the first
episode and get into that.

The Chronicles of Narnia 4/5
Great storyline.

I would've rate this movie a 5 if the director did not show
the "fake" close ups which were not necessary at all.

This movie is full of stunning animations which look very
very real (much better than the King Kong animations) but at
a few points in the movie you can see some close up's where
it is obvious that the background is fake... I still can't
believe why the director used these shots because they
weren't necessary. Without it the movie would have been top
notch!
