[no, i'm just being ultra-honest. i don't like stories like
these. after about 30 minutes i was giving it a fair 3/5
[good] but then it was simply getting worse. this kind of
"wait the whole film just to discover that his mum was
pregnant with his own grand granddad's cousin" doesn't
excite me.

before i think of rating a film i consider if :
- i would gladly watch that film again
- i had fun/enjoyed the film
- the story/plot seems logical enough imo

perhaps it's a classic film, i'm not saying "it's bad", i'm
not a film expert. i just don't like it. it's only an
opinion. read this thread deeper to discover more shocking
reviews.]

giving away the ending like that.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

4/5

I enjoyed this one a lot. quite dark and yet fun and silly.
of course it left out much (most) of the longest book in
the series, but the 25% that it covered was the best 25%.
Best movie in the series so far? perhaps, I'd have to watch
the 3rd one again to be sure.

sunset boulevard: apparently one of david lynch's favourite
movies, a tale of holywood and people who will stoop to any
level for success. A struggling writer crosses paths with a
fallen actress from the silent era who has warped delusions
of grandeur passed. chanderian noir voice overs a plenty in
this 1950's black and white classic. worth a watch.

IDF's (Independant Dark Film) for fun...

The AX (Le Couperet) France 9/10
Redundancy, corporate..serial killer...the bain of
Greenpeace; loves wasting paper
tres bien... this intelligent thriller in the "American
Psyhco" mode is absurdly humourous yet totally plausible.

Truth About Demons (NZ) 7/10

Cultish neo-horror as Clive Barker's "Hell Raiser"; makes
J-LO's butt flick "The Cell" like like a girl scout picnic.

MPD - Psycho Japan (Takashi Miike)- 10/10
3 part series of cyberhorror; not for the screamish - flower
pot heads, piano wire...cyber punk horrors.. bring it on
baby...

Avalon Japan 10/10 Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell)

Forget Final Fantasy, this could be sequel to the above
movie the landscapes of rotting industrial decay, ...freedom
fighters in this live action anime - pure escapism...

Versus Japan 8/10 Ryuhei Kitamura
Live Action anime; like the Tekken video game played in a
forest with swords, high tech weaponry, sorcery is a blast!

Neat American Nasty
The Manuchurian Candidate -USA - 9/10
Everything is under control!
Denzel Washington rocks in this thriller stylised like
Jacobs Ladder or Clockwork Orange...

thanks for mentioning Jacob's Ladder! - 5/5

Collateral 4/5
- THESE kinds of roles fit Cruise perfectly.

The Interpreter 4/5
- Don't know about Penn, but Kidman rules.

MPD Psycho 8/10
- Even though I'm a miike fanatic, I just couldn't follow
the story all the way to the last steps, maybe the shite
subtitles had something to do with it. Anyway quite
intriguing.

I watched this entire movie thinking it was a documentary.
I was getting so pissed off, and then during the end

Atanarjuat (The fast runner) - i'm not going to rate this
one. it was a good watch though - interesting culture, lots
of drama, nice cinematrography. there were times where i was
having trouble piecing the plot together and really knowing
what the characters were thinking, but this was probably due
to me not understanding the language and culture all that
well (and being somewhat inebriated at the time).
