portugal, argentina and france are 3 teams very strong, I
thought they would pass without problems and maybe one or
two of them will be out of the world cup soon.

germany cannot be too relaxed cos they can be out too,
though they depend on theirselves but with a tough match
ahead.

Italy is in a difficult situation, but they also depend on
theirselves.

belgium is going 1-1 against tunisia

one thing about spain:

we are all very hopefull about our team this time, we think
we can get really further than ever in the world cup, but
then I saw soem stadistics in the paper, the question was :-
"do you think spain can win the world cup?"- the answer is
75% thinks NO.

this means we think we can do a great world cup, but for us
a great tournament is to get to semifinal or to the final as
much, we dont even think off winning when we talk about
doing a great tournament.

this mentality is our problem.
for any brazilian or italian, doing a great championship
means winning it, getting to the final or semis is just a
normal thing, and less than that is a disaster, while we
leave very proud if we get to 1/4 finals....

spain has to change mentality if we want to get somewhere.

other point is, the difference of the meaning of the
national team´s shirt for an argentinian, italian or a
spanish

I think France is really in a bad situation.

France has onle 1 point and must win against the strong
Denmark with at least 2 goals... gulp...

yea totally agree, they are about to go home... anyway one
thing:

argentina in 1990 almost says goodbye in the first round,
they qualified as best 3rd (the first 2 teams in each group
qualified and the best two 3rds among all groups also) they
looked very bad at that moment... well they got to the final
after winning brazil and italy

this means we never know what will happen

rusia 3
belgium 2
tunisia 1

japan-tunisia

now they will have to fight against portugal for the
qualification.

USA seems to have it done, cos I think they can win poland
if they play as against portugal

so korea (which caused me a great impression) or portugal (a
normal favorite to get to 1/4 at least, will probably be out
next match.

Hold the front page guys !!

Every side who won their opening game at France 98
qualified
Every side who lost their opening game failed...

Hosts have qualified for the second round at every world
cup..

Portugal were better today, but honestly Poland gave the
worst performance of any side other than Saudi Arabia today.
Olisadebe is their star player and every pass of his went to
a red shirt.
Unless Korea get scared (and they have no reason to), they
will qualify alright.

I still back Korea to go through :)

If Nigeria beat England 2-1
And Argentina beat Sweden 1-0

that means ....Argentina qualify...
AND for second place>

THE DRAWING OF LOTS !!!!!! AGGHHHHH !!!

Nacmat>

I think the rules are as follows >

1) Points
2) Goal difference
3) Goals scored
4) Results between tied teams
5) Goal difference between tied teams
6) Goals scored between tied teams
7) Drawing of Lots !!!

So> Portugal would qualify ahead of the USA on Goal
Difference

Its different rules to the Euro champions league

France v. Denmark: Winner takes all since 1984
by FIFAworldcup.com

The stakes couldn't be higher when France play Denmark on
Tuesday. But hey, what's new? Since 1984, the two sides have
crossed swords on numerous ocasions, and incredibly,
whenever they have met in an official tournament, the winner
has gone on to capture the trophy. An amazing statistic,
which currently stands three to one in favour of the French.

France 1-0 Denmark, 12 June 1984
In the opening match of the European Championships, hosts
France faced a Denmark side packed with stars such as Preben
Elkjaer-Larsen, Michael Laudrup and Morten Olsen. The hosts
were hot favourites, however - after all, they had Michel
Platini as their mentor and playmaker.

The quality of the two sides made for a tense encounter at
the Parc des Princes, with France unable to give free rein
to their creative talents. Manuel Amoros was red-carded for
headbutting Jesper Olsen, whilst Allan Simonsen broke his
leg after a harsh tackle from Yvon Le Roux.

Despite all this, if one man was going to find the back of
the net, it had to be France's eternal saviour, and Platini
it was who drilled the ball home in the 72nd minute. France
were on the way to their first major tournament victory.

Denmark 2-1 France, 17 June 1992
In this third and final group match at Euro 92, the Danes,
last-minute replacements for Yugoslavia, needed a victory to
go through. A draw would have been enough for red-hot
favourites France, who had won every one of their qualifiers
and were spearheaded by Jean-Pierre Papin and Eric Cantona.
Papin thought he had done enough when he equalised on the
hour after a beautiful backheel from Jean-Philippe Durand
inside the area, but a tense Tricolore team ultimately paid
the price for their nervous play in the closing moments.

Flemming Povlsen sprung the offside trap and fed Lars
Elstrup, who smashed the ball past Bruno Martini. Denmark
were through, and with the emergence of "golden gloves"
Peter Schmeichel,

Flemming Povlsen sprung the offside trap and fed Lars
Elstrup, who smashed the ball past Bruno Martini. Denmark
were through, and with the emergence of "golden gloves"
Peter Schmeichel, went on to win their first (and only)
international trophy.

France 2-1 Denmark, 24 June 1998
Unlike at Euro 92, there was little at stake for the last
Group C match of the FIFA World Cup France 1998â„¢. The
hosts were already through, whilst the Danes only needed a
point to make sure they were not relying on a South African
victory over Saudi Arabia to progress. As a result, Aimé
Jacquet gave his second XI a run-out against Denmark's
regulars, and although the match never really took off,
goals from Emmanuel Petit and Youri Djorkaeff sent the fans
home happy.

Denmark still qualified for the second round, though, where
as usual they upped their game, thrashing Nigeria 4-1,
before being edged out 3-2 by Brazil in the quarter-finals.
Les Bleus meanwhile, had a date with history, and their-ever
first world championship success.

France 3-0 Denmark, 11 June 2000
The opening game for the two teams ended up as a mis-match.
FIFA World Cup-holders France were red-hot favourites
against a Danish team lacking its two main creative
influences from the past decade- the Laudrup brothers.

The ever-surprising Scandinavians did make the better start,
forcing Fabien Barthez into two world-class saves in the
opening 15 minutes from Jesper Gronkjaer and Ebbe Sand, but
Bo Johannson's men were soon rueing these misses. France got
into their stride, and after Laurent Blanc opened the
scoring after a quarter of an hour, slotting home the
rebound after Nicolas Anelka's shot was saved, it was
one-way traffic from then on. Thierry Henry doubled France's
advantage after an incredible surge down the left flank,
before Sylvain Wiltord made the match safe with a third.
Denmark's Euro was short-lived, but the French, once again,
would go all the way.
