AE REMIX CONTEST - UPDATE

phobiazero - there may have been a miscommunication due to
the e-mails back and forth. i uploaded my mp3 two days ago
to the xltronic server and tried again today. it seemed to
work both times, although i didn't see it on there.

am I the only person who thinks this contest has been messy?
I mean, no confirmation emails, full mailbox...I'd rather
have sent a CD to Sweden, the sound would be better than an
mp3 and there wouldn't have any trouble uploading stuff....

offline Phobiazero from the next Xltronic (Sweden) on 2003-04-22 05:17 [#00662748]
Points: 10507 Status: Webmaster | Show recordbag

relax people. you will all get confirmation emails as soon
as things are sorted out. so far i've received over 100
remixes
and it became quite messy because people
didnt follow naming rules and even uploaded the same
track as they sent me per email, but had different
tracknames. thats very confusing. people were sending me
links to their tracks, but the links werent working. stuff
like that - very confusing.

i'm currently sorting out all this mess and as soon as its
done i will send a confirmation email to each contributor.

... other from that it's been running very smoothly.

Points: 26326 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

That reminds me. Mine was named correctly except I put the
size at the end when I made it and forgot to remove it.
Sorry. Although not a major problem admittedly.

blash: did you actually contribute with your username or did
you used another name? stuff like that is also very messy.

it would be cool if Autechre played the winning track during
one of their concerts...

offline fat kaimo from Finland on 2003-04-22 06:18 [#00662814]
Points: 2003 Status: Lurker

i feel very bad that i'm out of this, that my mail was never
received...
but i am excited to hear what everybody have come up with..

the rules could've been more specific but most of the stuff
can be understood with common sense.

fat kaimo: feel free to send me your remix. no worries. i
know you've tried to send me your contribution.

as for the rules... i'm not sure what you mean.. autechre
didnt wanted any specific rules re:remixing.

fat kaimo is class, nice of you not to leave him out
Phobiazero.

gives me less of a chance though :-(

I'd just like to say GOOD LUCK to everyone who participated
and I'm really looking forward to hearing what everyone's
done. I'm sure there's gonna be loooooooads of different
styles.

hmm what were the specific naming rules?
i just put the tracks i mixed and my artist name.
were we supposed to put our board name?.. or no name?

yeah, the contest has seemed somewhat unorganized, but i
trust phobia has everything under control.. it's hard to
keep up with a 100+ people asking quesions and whatnot

and this is the first time anything like this has been
arranged..
if he ever decides to do something like this again, we'll
all know how to go about it and what to expect

This is how you're supposed to name it:

-if you remixed.... um "777" and called your remix... um
"noodlesalad", you would call your track this:

wayout_777_noodlesalad

It makes sense to use your messageboard name instead of an
artist name, otherwise people might not know who is who.

Thanks phobiazero for all your hard work. Cheers to you for
undertaking such a huge task.
I sent a track with incorrect naming conventions, I renamed
correctly and re-sent via FTP.

i may have named my tracks with some of the information in
the wrong order..
the information is all there, i just didn't know what exact
way it should be titled.
hope it's okay.
i want to thank the xltronic crew for having such a great
contest.
everyone here should go buy a cd from mns to help support
this site for hosting this wonderful event.

more than that !
about 80-85 submissions are from people regularly sitting on
the board with about 500 points.

there are many submissions of people only getting to this
board for the purpose of this contest...

man, id love to see some stats on this thing..

how many submissions they're were.. how many people did 2
remixes vs. how many did 1. how many 500+ post members did a
remix vs. how many 'newbies' had submissions.. etc.

I hope these details become available eventually..

you now, i come here from autechre.nu where i was on
messageboard , not very often , but always a
little.....besides , judging peolpe by numbers of enters is
wrong-judge people for knowledge about music, not for
entries...i haven't got internet in home, so i cant be here
very often-is that means that i'm newbie? It's not bad that
someone wants to just be here for only the contest...

im gonna be bold as an asshole from america, and say that i
too (obvious from number of points) only found this message
board recently by accident. but i am glad i did.

yes, i entered the contest, and yes, i just got here, and i
could care less what anyone calls me. this sounded like fun
and a great idea, so i wish everyone good luck and cant wait
to hear the results...
