I'm reading the original in story form...
I think that maybe reading the prequels would be far better for me than actually watching it.
I can make my own visualizations of what going on.

Im feeling a bit more confident now that it will deliver. One of the most important things for me is that it will have more of the ruff post war look of the old triology that i love.
Look at this clonetrooper for example. For one Its a Costume and not stupid fucking cgi hahaha!!

Did you see the other day that there was a solid bronze statue of Yoda stolen, which was on its way to the studios......they've put out a $20,000 reward for it

Not a lot was said about it, I guess it was some prop for the new film. I'll find the article and paste it here.

To be completely honest, it would take an absolute miracle to redeem this sorry excuse for a trilogy!
X-tomatic was right: in losing humour they've lost a strong part of the appeal from the original 'Holy Trilogy', and they've dug themselves an even deeper hole with a dry, uninspiring storyline.

Now hoping it will be good, fair enough... but actually thinking it will be, after the last two??

episode 1 - utterly disappointing. episode 2 - lost interest entirely. episode 3 - doubt i'll go out of my way to see it until IT comes to find me..
i saw most of the first trilogy again not so long ago.. +it hit home more prominently than ever how absurd the level of excitement which surrounded this new series of films is.
theres not much in the way of filmmaking, acting +scriptwriting to support lucas' abilities in any way shape or form.
the first trilogy was throwaway, stylish entertainment. it only shocked+entertained so many people because it had been anticipated as the worst film ever made (even by lucas' director friends)..
but its been done now.. 25 years ago. and no amount of new sfx technology can hide the fact that lucas is short on ideas + technical ability.
of course, i realise that this is just my humble opinion + that millions of people love the new films as much as the old films.
but ive not been impressed with a lot of what ive seen in the new films. i grew up with starwars (as has almost everyone these days) ..but im objective enough to see that, while he first trilogy has a lot of positive attributes, it was never a great example of skilled filmmaking. it was good clean, family fun - well timed in its release.
but the 20 year gap created too much anticipation, which the films could never live up to unless you were a "diehard fan" [because fans forgive all kinds of shortcomings]
..regardless of what movies lucasfilm the company has produced, the creator of the company did not (and still has not) proved himself as a filmmaker..
blablablablablabla.. stop.

theres a difference between taste + bias. taste is subjective. but films/albums etc should be anticipated/approached as objectively as is possible..
my point about 'fans' was that.. some people become so impassioned about something that they lose their objectivity - ignore its flaws (after all, virtually nothing in life is flawless) + disregarding the criticisms of others as 'not understanding'
let episode 3 prove itself on its own merit. just because its starwars, doesnt mean its going to be good. the last 2 films proved that to me, at least..

a little interesting roomer i found at Darkhorizons relating to episode III's action content:
TheForce.Net reports that Dreamwatch magazine has just published an interview with fight coordinator Nick Gillard who spoke quite a bit about the film's lightsaber battles in the last prequel:
"It's going to be the best prequel. I can't see how it won't be. Episode III has got everything the other films had and more! The movie is 60 to 70 per cent fighting. Ewan [McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi] had 1,000 moves to learn, as opposed to the three pages he had to learn in The Phantom Menace.
There's tons of fighting in this one. Episode III also ties in beautifully with all the other movies. And when I read the script, I was really surprised by how emotional it is. Everyone working on the film took so much care with it. Nobody wants to get it wrong".
"Star Wars: Episode III" is scheduled to open May 2005.

my point about 'fans' was that.. some people become so impassioned about something that they lose their objectivity
- ignore its flaws (after all, virtually nothing in life is flawless) + disregarding the criticisms of others as 'not understanding'
that goes both ways though. just because somebody may have enjoyed episode I or II (personally i thought II was at least as good as return of the jedi which was my least favorite of the originals) doesn't mean that they are somehow clouded by irrational fandom. People who are looking to bash a film may be focusing wholly on the flaws, becoming unable to appreciate the good aspects of a film
so yeah i agree with you that the best way to watch any film is to try to remain totally objective; something that is often difficult with movies that so heavily saturate the media prior to their release.

The old films were incredible. The new ones are shit. I saw the first and lost interest. I don't want to ever see these new fangled kiddie star wars films. I have a feeling they are being made by gamers and lucas just says OK all day. They are sterile, with no depth, bad acting, bad everything. The old ones were perfect. Hell,THX was better.

Episode 2 and 3 good you say, hmm?
Smoking crack, you must be. Highlight of movie yoda fighting was, far too brief the scene ran. Why didn't he just push anakin and obiwan out from under the collapsing pillar, oh wait i guess they needed to leave that plot hole open for the next sequel to drive through. and what the fuck ever happened to the jedi moving super fast like the flash? you can't just pull some shit like that in the movie and then pretend that nobody saw it later. fuck you george lucas, you ruined my boyhood dreams of jedi knighthood!
BTW, check out akira kurosawa's "hidden fortress" if you liked star wars.

"The burned Anakin pic is genuine ... from a certain point of view.
The face, neck, body, and legs are composited together from 3 real images from makeup tests for Episode III. The robotic arm is from Episode 2 composited and colored in. Credit originally should go to an insider named Timberwolf, but obviously at this point that is inconsequential."
