Anakin turns to the Dark Side of the Force, and battles
with Obi-Wan Kenobi
- Anakin becomes Darth Vader, a Sith Lord and eventually
becomes apprentice to the Emperor
- the senate on Coruscant is abolished by the Emperor
- Episode IV (A New Hope) takes place.

Here's a small bit of exclusive information from the
"Episode One Insider's Guide" on Episode Three:

Once again to be written by George Lucas, Star Wars: Episode
III promises to be the darkest installment of the new
trilogy. Ewan McGregor will return as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and
Natalie Portman will once again portray Queen Amidala.

Lucas will direct Episode III, which is scheduled to begin
filming in Sydney, Australia in June, 2003. The film's
current, tentative release date is May of 2005. Like Episode
II, Episode III will be shot entirely on digital media. ILM
will yet again provide special effects.

Tentative release date is quite correct. As with Episodes
One and Two, Episode Three will also be released in May.
And, just like every other movie in the saga, each film will
be filmed three years apart. As it was in the beginning, is
now, until Episode Three. In fact, episodes four, five, and
six were filmed in 1977, 1980, and 1983 respectively. The
new movies will be filmed in 2002, and 2005. What's more is
that Episode One: The Phantom Menace was filmed in 1999. So
that gives us: 1977, 1980, 1983, 1999, 2002, 2005. The first
three numbers are three years apart, and the last three are
three years apart.

This brings us to our next conclusion. Although George Lucas
did say that there would not be an episodes seven, eight, or
nine, if they were filmed, would it be in 2008, 2011, and
2014? Three years apart, after a

Episode 2 is something else.
Its really something else.
dont know what episode 1 is but all I know is that it sucked
and it is still one of the worst movies and disapointments
ever.

Producer Rick McCallum updated Star Wars Magazine (issue 42)
about Star Wars: Episode III.
"We're really moving now," he says, "I just did a
round-the-world trip. I finalized the deal at the studio in
Sydney. We met some new crewmembers who will be joining us,
including a new set decorator, Richard Rogers. Peter
Russell, our Art Director, has already started, but the main
bulk of the team will begin in January."

The magazine says that the concept designers are hard at
work designing the worlds of "Episode III" and the images
should be leaping into action as you're reading this. "We've
got our animatics artists starting to work soon... They'll
start working on the first of the action sequences for
Episode III. Then the pedal will be to the metal all the way
through to the time we start shooting."

All of the work, however, is proceeding without a finished
script, but that doesn't stop the veteran producer.
"Obviously, I would give anything in the world to have the
script. But I don't have it. That's the reality I have to
work under. That's the challenge for all of us - not to lose
our minds before we get it."

Happy Christmas Netlon! :P

I think its going to be great too, just my 2 cents though,
people set their expectations of what lucas will do so high
that nothing can satisfy anyone. He made a big mistake using
the cgi stuff though, maybe its me, but the 3d modeling in
the origional ones (like jabba's space ship..... the
hovership things in the return on the jedi) was so much
better.... wtf. He should have made models and less of the
new cgi animation techniques and more of the old style of
movie making with the new prequels, more camera work and
robotics...... the III one will be the best, I liked the II
one, the third one will be even better because it wraps
everything up, nice and dark. Yes!

true, though. with cgi characters you know they're not
really there

in the old days at least you knew that they're talking to a
puppet. if that makes sense :)

but i am impressed with the cityscapes and starships, those
are the best scifi graphics i have ever seen

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2002-12-30 11:13 [#00495359]
Points: 4130 Status: Addict

oh wait, my bad, the model work, not the 3d modeling..... in
the origional star wars movies, but I think some 3d stuff
was done also, not as much as it was spammed all over the
new ones. I wonder if it was more of a budget thing, you
would thinnk they would let him have all the money lucas
wanted to do this, so he could go crazy and build actual
clone robots and what not...... but nooooo..... they used
the 3d animators from the stewart little movies.....

hahaha, or like a robotic yoda, or ummm, a real space shit,
cause 20 billion or however much all of the movies made all
together... could produce a couple real life size robots....

I thought the graphics were awesome too, especially the
landscapes.... crazy stuff

space shit=space shit hahahahahahah!

wow I type REAL good.

I hated who ever played skywaker though in the 2nd
one......... damn that was funny stuff. I laughed so hard at
the guys acting sometimes....

the best part I think was when the robotron robot of the
whatever planet was all like:

ERRRR... this is roboticon from the robotic...
eerrrrzzzzzzeeeeeeeoooooorrrrrreeeeee...eeeeeeek
eeerrrroooooooo, from the robotica planet, you have my

i just rented the episode 2 dvd and the special 2nd disc is
packed full of doc's.

you get real insight in how they develop those special
visiual and sound effects, i must say not much attention is
spent on the actors acting skills through, its prety much
left up to them.

Some latest news.....

Episode III will further connect the Star Wars saga,
bridging the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy in new
and surprising ways. As such, familiar faces and places will
return in this new Star Wars film, which is currently in
pre-production.
Reprising their classic roles from the original trilogy are
actors Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. They
return to Star Wars as Chewbacca the Wookiee, C-3PO and
R2-D2.

"I'm delighted to return as Chewbacca," says Mayhew. "I
think his re-appearance in this film is a fitting way to tie
the whole saga together, especially for Wookiee fans." Given
that Chewbacca is a sprightly 200 years old in Episode IV,
he is more than old enough to fit into the prequel timeline.

great to see chewie return but it does sound a bit desperate
to bring back such an important character. and it's becoming
tiresome to see that every popular character from the old
series has to have some background in the new series. but
then again, it is chewie :) thanks for the update!

need to be tied in neatly with Episode 4. Bring characters

critical? nooo. chewie was only taken into the sw galaxy
when han solo saved his life on his homeplanet was he not? i
always figured he was a family-man before that. but maybe
that's all we're going to get, so i won't judge things yet.
i don't see how his history before han solo 'needs to be
