FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. there is supposedly a leak going around today, according to the WATMM forums. I'm going to take the plunge and try your file, as a rapidshare doesn't want to let me download shit right now. If I don't see you guys again, that means my computer has been virused and i've died. |

i just downloaded and checked it for viruses... all good. Shit...this is nuts . The best way I can descrive only after 5 minutes of listening to clips of songs is LP5 had a baby with Tri Repetae... but it was a crack baby...and the mom was on Quaristice as she gave birth |

I like it too. It just doesn't seem to have autechres "sound," particularly in the mastering. The melodies don't strike me very ae either. These sort of posts come back to bite you if it turns out to be real, but if i was a betting man i'd say fake all the way. |

I dont even wanna listen to it anymore because i wont be able to enjoy without question it unless I know its real. But then if I don't listen to it and it turns out to be real, ill have spent all these weeks missing out on something right in-front of my face. from a post regarding this leak on watmm: "What I'm listening is the real deal. ILanders matches the description of a sick beat with tri-repetae pads over it. Pt2ph is very much ambient like french electronic avant-garde of the 60s. Qplay is very incunabula-ish, one of the weakest track it seems. See on see is an other old schoolish track with a few vst twists over it. Treale is beautifully ambient with sort of synthetic birds noises. Jesus this album is getting really old school -> os veix 3 from the chiastic slide era. 0=o is more ambient / concrete/ avant garde stuff. This d-sho qub doesn't match jaderpansen description above. But it's definitely an ae track. Beautiful pads and melody by the way. One of the best tracks so far. st epreo is a massive beat reminiscent of Cfern but straight 4/4 wih the obvious twists in the end, and very nice hi sounds reminiscent of that third track on Draft. Excellent track. Redfall is another ambient track. The beat of Krylon comes straight from Tri-rep era but the pads are more modern with a lot of melodic emphasis. The album ends on yuop, another ambient track, not very good imo. Conclusion: A very melodic Ae album, very retro in some parts, no crazy beats like confield-draft-gantz graf but still some enjoyable beat shifts and breaks. It's looking good." DILEMMAAAAA |

The best thing that can come out of today's brief hysteria over this fake is Bleep releasing the real thing in days, as opposed to months. With this fake shit is spreading around blogs like wildfire, it actually becomes kind of ironic If people think this is actually real, this might actually affect sales negatively... People download this crap thinking its the real deal, trying to preview the album... then they dont buy the real thing when it comes out because their frame of reference is all fucked up. |

The only purpose of this "leak" is nothing to do with trying to pass an album off as Autechre, it is targeting those who will only listen to something for plain aesthetic value rather than for its content, and taking the complete piss out of those people. The ones who for example would buy a 12" with the sound of Aphex Twin's bowel movements, just because its RDJ and not for its artistic merit. Anyone in the Ae fanbase who knows and loves the work of Autechre will know straight away from hearing any of the "fake" tracks that this is a tongue-in-cheek prank aimed at the fanboys and in no way is aimed at taking anticipation off of the release of Oversteps. The ones who have the patience to wait for its' imminent release will be the most rewarded. This was an exercise in seeing how quickly false information spreads. Sure, Fluorescent Grey proved this last time, seems no-one learned this time either. We have a lot of respect for Rob and Sean, and in no way is this intentionally to piss them off. Just got off skype with a reviewer at [cough cough] - warp is pissed, apparently this is real, though it is a transcode from 192 to 320 so the high quality files are still not in the wild |
